One of favorite projects this year has been our 1JZ converted NASCAR drift car. We bought this car as a shell and set about making it a drift car! It was a challenge from start to finish, but at this weekend's LZ World Tour in Mondello Park, Adam LZ, Chelsea Denofa and James Deane will be seeing if they can actually make it do a clean lap. Three in a row NASCAR short track champ here.. Run as much caster as you can, 7 8 9 degrees and set the camber at 3 to 3.5 degrees, you will get return to center action and massive weight transfer to the inside rear wheel when you are full sideways because of the front geometry.. Everyone has felt a large car tilt the hood when you steer lock to lock sitting still, these settings increase that.

@@driftgames_life Adjust the bump steer so it never toes in. If you have to compromise, have it toe out in bump. If it toes in from steering or bump travel it will bind up front rolling resistance and be unpredictable and more easily spun out.

@@driftgames_life I heard one of you say the upper a arms are not the same.. A circle track car runs caster stagger to get it to turn in more to the left. Caster affects the straight line pull to one side or the other. If a car pulls, it is usually caster stagger, not toe causing it. You may have to chop the a arms to have matching caster and camber on both sides. A road coarse car would be all set.

After building Nascar race cars for over 25 years, its interesting to see that what you guys need to do to the car to get it to drift is opposite of how we design and build them !

The main problem you're having with suspension tuning is that these cars are built for high speed left turns so transitions are going to feel really bad

Change the steering rack and steering wheel is too big and to close to the chest...

Looks like it's digging in to the front end to much so to much pressure on the outside front and maybe even loosening up the inner rear which is screwing up the balance which overcurrent you or spins. Crazy car hope you figure it out enough for the event can't wait to see the videos
Those cup cars are pretty heavy pretty sure there supposed to weight around 3800lb with driver or 36 or something so not the most ideal car for drifting but you guys seem to have it pretty good
your gonna always have problems with drifting a nasscar chassis as its not square its build to turn left so watch cleetus macfarlands videos on it as it explains everything on there vids
LZ, Chelsea, and Mike essa have all tried to explain steering geometry to me thru videos and I’ve never understood it

Get cleetus on there drifting. He is used to drifting crap that aint ment to drift especially crown vics.
The adjustments on the rear control arms are to give it rear steering in the corners remember its made to go left .....unless its a roadtrack car and thats not a roadtrack car or the rear end would be square instead of the way it was so both front and rear control arms are made to turn the car left every track is different so they have control arms for each track which depends on the bank of each track you might want to maybe do a whole new front end on it
Seamed like you both did better going through the right hand corner. And nascar only goes left…… does it have a ton of rear steer and camber still in the rear.
You guys should do the livery as a jzx chaser or something to match the theme of the build with the jz engine.

Let Chelsea do an early test run in it, he's Mr. Chassis set up guru and he might be able to figure out how to get a tad more positive camber in the rear! For the front, the bolts look long enough up top so you could get more negative camber by simply adding a few big washers in-between the backside of the new top hat plate and the upper A-arm mounts to pull it in some....../
Its a solid axle you cant get rear camber either direction it will be 0 unless the axle is bent and broken
You should do a VIN search on one of your guys's race cars

His was very different to this one, we know Aaron well so it turns out his was a bit closer to a regular car as it wasn’t an actual pro nascar
