My home network is now completely monitored and I can see all my port info, network packets, CPU/RAM/Disk, etc..
UptimeKuma does on thing. Uptime-Monitoring... If thats the only thing you need, thats fine. Monitoring is way more, than just checking if a server pings, or a page loads.
Back in school for my end project I made a PRTG server for monitoring and it certainly was a game changer to have such monitoring. One night I thought I'd just quickly do something for my endwork, I check the PRTG server and instantly could see that 1 of our servers was messed up big time. (Had an absolutely clueless teammate). He ended up getting 3 folders on a server with an infinite loop of more folders within them. Inspecting element 1 folder could say it contains like 1234 folders and 426 files, then checking 1 folder deeper it could say 7325 folders and 9423 files. Folder names were too big to be deleted and it fully filled the harddrive to the very last bit. Not only that, it escaped the VM and filled the entire physical machines storage. The same machine where my classmates and another class also had their endwork VM's on so it was a big issue that I spent 2 hours that night at midnight together with a teacher to fix. Spotting this issue early on and getting it fixed before anybody else suffered from it was 100% because of monitoring.
I've used PRTG at my last job and current job, and have a PRTG server set up at home. The only thing I don't like about it is it's Windows only - I've fully switched over to Linux for my PC and file/Plex server, so now I have to keep a VM open running Windows just to keep the PRTG server up. I was hoping this WUG would be an alternate solution but it looks like it's Windows Server only so it's a no-go. I may look into Zabbix.

followed the instructions, every device was limited to ping monitoring. Thinking of Homeassistant, which has basically any device, its drive and their mothers on display, running on a slim raspberry, make this almost obsolete. Only the notification is something you don't get directly out of the box and not sure if it does work without subscription.

Yes PTSD. This years of my career are the worst!!!
yep- java was great!🫵🤣🤷🥰✌️
I've used a bunch of 'em. Big Brother, Whatsup, Nagios, Zabbix, Uptime Kuma. I always go back to Nagios. Zabbix is a close second.
Is it still "real" Nagios or is CheckMK the new Nagios?
Wow!... Time for cold brew coffee! ☕️☕️ ☕️
whats the difference to your last video with uptime kuma?
@NetworkChuck - You've probably been asked this a gazillion times, but what software do you use to write on screen like that? I'm looking for something similar for my meetings/presentations.
8:34 - you nano loving moster :P hehe
Never fails to entertain!🎉🎉🎉
Would love to use on my network but Security Department won't allow open source if its not FEDRamp
13:54 - could use some emphasis that it is "Administrator**S**", very easy to miss.
I’ve been in cloud eng / IT for 15 years and I never knew what SNMP was. Thanks for this video. It was fantastic
i love your tshirt, where can I find it ?
funny enough, I have seen a few companies requiring SNMP on a few of their help desk applications.
WhatsUp Gold! That was how I (DJ) started in monitoring in the early 2000’s!
This is cool, but The Dude is the most undervalued free monitoring solution on the planet.
mr chuck,
i have a question for what happens for AMD gpu's, do you happen to know the command to add a monitor on linux (in my case customised ubuntu) what command would i use for that?
i have a jellyfin server you see, so would be fun to try and add that.
Thank you so much ❤️
I like vim! It's my favorite text editor! :)
can you make a video on grafana/prometheus?
Please make a video on log server
I am just curious, is there any benefit to this over like ProxMox (or any other VM management) as, monitoring wise as far as I saw it does nearly everything roughly the same
I'm getting really paranoid to the temperature on my Laptop just lately. I've figure it out tho I've narrowed it down to apps running in the background and the type apps I use. 🤔
The glowup is real!
Chuck -- is there such a thing as "SHADOW" Windows running on my machine? Changes made to the computer, like disabling stuff in the Startup list, even putting new files on the hard drive, are all gone when I re-boot. Getting the BSOD... troubleshooting, but hardware seems fine. Virus?
followed the instructions, every device was limited to ping monitoring.
Thinking of Homeassistant, which has basically any device, its drive and their mothers on display, running on a slim raspberry, make this almost obsolete. Only the notification is something you don't get directly out of the box and not sure if it does work without subscription.
Hi chuck.. im stuck at the first WMI command .can you help please
Just throwing my opinion into the mix. Zabbix all the way!
