- This was the last time up to The Tent before the 2018 Deer Hunting opener. We moved my Dads stand. Put up Zachary's new stand. Cut down the dead birch in the Tent yard. Set up the ground blind. Sighted in the deer rifles. This was a very busy trip up to The Tent.
I've been disabled unable to hunt for 5 years. Your videos sure brings back great memories.
Always entertaining to watch and so professional. I'm 88 now and feeling it, so this takes me back to happy days in the woods. But I don't
know if I could have driven all those miles even when I was in my prime. I'd like to be up north with you but my old bones now need these balmy Florida days down here in St Augustine, 75s, and sunny almost every day. Good luck with the deer and all the best to your family.
Thank you Robert. I could use a few 75 degree days.
Oh man. Just awesome. It seems like the relationship with Zach is so special. Good for you. Be grateful for that. Not everyone gets to have that with their father.
we enjoyed your programme. your camp is a place in paradise . you have a nice weather station. thank you for this fine entertainment.
Another excellent video! Can’t wait for deer hunting 2018 the movie!
Thank you for taking us along with you Joe! I stumbled upon your channel last fall 2017 and have kept up ever since. Cant wait for deer season videos. "Sarah, it's 4:30" ha ha
I posted on one of your previous videos that it was 'time' to see Father and Son together at The Tent. So, you can only imagine how awesome it was to see not only that, but you captured quality family time with three (3) generations! #ThatsGoodStuffRightThere
I had thought that. Have a great weekend !
cherish that time
I'm watching Joe slap on that spice to the steaks with his bare hands and sleeve touching the meat. My wife would have a meltdown if she saw me do that in our kitchen, LOL.
Great video...and even better camaraderie. Hanging out with family and friends at a deer camp is fun. I always enjoy my time doing the same.
I love how you showed off your hand gun! Respect!
Pork steak at 9:52, Polka at 33:31. Now I can just relax and enjoy the visit. I think Winter would be the coziest time up there. Maybe try some chili (if you’re alone).
Yar Nunya: you will notice I made absolutely no reference to “properly” prepared chili. I suspect that you are one of those folks (generally, but not always, from Texas) that thinks it is a sacrilege to add beans to the recipe. If that’s true you can have all you want and even go to a movie. Lol!
It's a pleasure as always Joe good luck to you and the family from Florida hope you all get your wall hanger
Good times with 3 generations priceless!
Great video. I used to hunt with my Father as well but I sadly lost my Dad this year, enjoy this time with your Father, memories will be forever.
For approx. 8yrs, I've successfully hunted from a ground blind. For the really cold days, I use a small propane heater where I can stay for hours. To help with noise, I also place a rubber runner on the floor of the blind. A ground blinds worst enemy is strong winds, I've lost one. I always use at least one stronger stake, I use one "cork screw" dog tie out, get them from a dollar store.
I am sorry for your loss. My dad is 75 so every year he makes it up is a good year. thank you.
Another great video at the tent! Joe, you are a workhorse man. Always working on some project. Look forward to every new tent video getting posted. Thanks for sharing!
Joe, you're a total beast, you could outwork and eat more meat than 10 men! As alarming as that is (lol) I really like your sense of tradition and family. You have a great relationship with your kids and you are blessed to still have your father around. These days when everything seems to be going to shit, seeing you do the same things year in, year out gives me as well as others who watch your channel a lot of comfort!
I agree too much meat man you are going to need a heart doctor soon, love the family time you take time for though!
It is so refreshing to see how you and your children get along and do things together.
Hello Joe,Zack and Sara I really enjoy your UA-cam page.Takes me away to very peaceful PLACE!!!
Another of many FANtastic videos 👍 Thanks !!
GOT TO LOVE THEM OLD TIMERS HAPPY HOUR BEFORE HARD WORK.
Joe I have seen your other channel’s and I must say I enjoy The Tent the most. I can set and watch every one I can find for hours. You make them so interesting, everything you do it’s just like I haven’t seen them before.Keep going to the Tent and please keep making the videos.I have only been watching you a couple of weeks ,God bless.
Looking great! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for another killer video Joe and Zach! :D
Love your Dad, very telling where you get your work ethic from! best wishes to all for the coming deer season. would love to see you cooking the meat. I have seen you cooking some.
Great Video! Can't wait for Deer Hunting, The "Movie". Love it!
Another great video guys thanks.
Great father and son relationships you have with your dad and Zach! Mine is not so good with my dad (not by choice), but my hope is that when my 12 yo son is Zach’s age that it’s just as strong as yours.
Nice. My portable fish house is just like that ground blind. Totally awesome unless you have to set it up yourself in the wind. lol.. Love your channel.
Thanks for minimizing the wind noise it can annoying I know there's not much you do about it. Thanks for the content I enjoy it.
That was a awesome video, I bow hunt but this year I have a Bad knee and am waiting surgery and have not hunted but 1 time but after watching you guys putting up and moving stands I cant wait for my gun season to come. I live in Illinois and our season is the 16 of November. Thanks for your video and cant wait for you Deer hunting video to come out, Good luck.
I love Star Trek Voyager! Another great video!
Zach's stand is in the perfect place. He will get deer this year.
I would say you’re right. Sure hope so. Hope they all get one. I love deer hunting. Even tho I don’t always get one, it’s the icing on the cake :)
Great to see you both, the place looks great. Good film guys.
Awesome video. I hope you all fill your tags.
I hope you bag a good one this year. Good luck, be safe.
I like the Zach's blind he picked a nice spot.
Well put together videos, wow you boys can eat!
Helps to brush the blinds in, Back them up to a cedar and cut limbs to pile around it. Helps with scent also!
Joe , as a general rule , you do not touch a barrel with anything, a fence posts , a finger , nothing, just touching a barrel while shooting can change the point of impact as much as six inches at one hundred yards. Especially in the middle area, and especially on the bottom.
That wind sounds so good!
88/59f today. Sending lots of love 💜 from sunny 🌞 Arizona 🌵, 90f tomorrow! Yikes! 😲
Well,Joe what you guys did to get ready for deer hunting season, Are camp guys ,will be doing about the same thing in two weeks, For are Bear and deer season.here in Pa .Good luck to you all this hunting season and Be safe
Lol, Melissa taking care of you long distance (the roast). That’s a good woman..👍🏼
That was a lot of hard work getting ready. All those trees that had to come down is a shame. The place looks so barren now. It would look so pretty with a few maples. Good thing everyone was on hand for the removal and setup of stands. Guns sighted, your all ready now. Good work and can't wait to see what we get this year.
Next year you can put flower pots on top of the stumps
Hi, Joe. Nice to meet you at lunch today!!
Great video!
hi from Ireland and tanx for all your posts, but i still miss seeing max with you , :-(
Awesome video. FAMILY FIRST
great video God bless
Do you think hunting blinds would work for camping? Hoping to find a super easy set up tent
Greetings from Perth, Western Australia Joe....love your videos.
Thank you.
Great seeing all you guys working together, moving your Dad's stand, obviously enjoying a joke or two as well. What will you do with the birch stumps nearest the deck? I was thinking of adding some sort of table-top to them and make an outside table...but it not really in a good spot for that.
you really make us feel like we are there too-another great episode. maybe think about numbering them?
Watch you relocate your dad treestand. Deer dont usely look up but they do look straight ahead. Stand back 50 to 75 yards and look straight ahead in directions of tree stand. If dad move deer could pick up. I like putting blinds on tree line , this way you have cover behind you so you blend in. Just my thought . Love the tent love you tube
Popcorn and a movie! 😍
Hopefully you're alot more blessed then the past few years hunting. 🤘
TFS. I enjoyed your video.
Best time to still hunt is when the wind is blowing like that.... just walk up wind real fast and the deer will never hear you coming..got a few bucks like that...just see them first...
I'll just share with you how i do this .. Loose scope bases or rings but most of the time it's the bases .. I use Loc-Tite (BLUE) which is thread -lock which means if you ever wanted to removed the screws later on you can.. It doesn't take very much of it on each screw to do the job.. Like on your model rifle where i would say by what you show the play is in the bases not the rings .. Remove one base screw at a time after you first removed the scope , clean the screw threads (several good cleaners are on the market for that task) apply one drop of Loc-Tite to the threads and screw it back in firmly .. Go on to the next screw until you have all 4 done.. I have handgun barrels (3) that all have a scope mounted and over the years now nothing has become loose not even the hardest kicker i own..It's an excellent product .. 9 years later and the scope is right on every time i target the gun on paper ..This might help you.. Loc-Tite is a great product that works very well..
Good job on the trees.
U SHOULD HAVE GONE FOR hAPP HOUR W/ THE GUYS- U EARNED IT
Good luck in deer season hope you get the big one. It will probably be the last year for bating for the upper michigan.
Great vid .....
Hats off for happy hour
Looking forward to deer hunting movies.I just got back from deer camp (archery) be back next month for black powder
Joe how come you don't brush in that blind. It kind of sticks out like a sore thumb. Down here in Iowa we brush them in and a person that doesn't know a blind is there wouldn't see it. Another question.... do you pur the skirting on your ladder stands for concealment or for protection from the elements? That's another thing we don't do down here. We just sit in them in the open even while in our orange for shotgun deer season. Good luck this season!!!
That ground blind will only be there a short time. No one would ever steal anything so I do not worry about that at all. The deer will be used to it. The skirts are used concealment and to protect from the elements. For me it is mainly for concealment.
Hey joe when u going to finish the front of your tent u should make a small front porch
Love your "Movies", but you really need to add some "bloopers" at the end. Uncut and uncencored. LOL! Oh, and also, I am an Authorised and Certified STIHL dealer. Great promo with the saw. You handle it well!
Lol. I post bloopers with mainly the F word on the Joe and Zach Survival community Facebook page sometimes. My Stihl is getting quite old, I need a new one soon. Lol. Thank You Becky.
I want a tent ⛺. I can't wait for the movie. I hope you get 2 bucks. I thinking of one of those blinds for the squirrels at my folks place..😁 How does Birch burn? You should invest in a wood splitter. My friend has one at their cabin in the Sierras. Each year we go up to the cabin to Split wood. Comes in handy. Wait don't you have one at your house?
He just showed his log splitter in the previous video.
Hi Joe, another great video. What do you do with the tree stumps? do you leave them as is or do you end up pulling them out? Sorry if its a stupid question
They will stay there for now and either rot away or if I get a backhoe up there for something I could get them dug out.
Man i can't wait till fall!
If there was ever a zombie apocalypse I'd want to be at Joe's place.
The amount of work that Joe can accomplish is Impressive, Plus filming! Joe why don't you just open those scrapes up? Under Sarahs stand you should just Kick the dirt out and piss in the scrape. The deer will start hitting it Immediately. I would also make one other mock scrape out there in front of your stand Where you said there hasn't been any activity
Have you thought of making a 4 ft.Steele rake use with a tractor .To clear out those weeds out of the lake in front of your tent ?
that first tree you cut down looked like you could have made some good lumber out of it
Man I love watching you videos. Im out bowhunting our 600 acres in Wisconsin now. Last night at 6pm I shot what I consider a giant. It was an 8pt around 150 class deer. But I hit a branch and the shot deflected and I hit him far forward. Watched him bed and waited 5 hours before going into the woods at 11pm. Only reason I went in the woods before morning was it started to rain. I had the farmer come out with his blood tracking dog and after 4 more hours the dog lost the bloodtrail and it got dark so we stopped looking. I am so wrought with guilt i don't think Im going to hunt anymore this year.. The deer here are already chasing.. tons of open scrapes and 7 different big bucks on camera.
Wow, what a story and I know that feeling of "defeat" you are feeling right now. Damn, and it was a big one. Hopefully you will see it again. Thanks for the comment.
First buck I've shot at with my bow in 10 years. Told myself years ago that Im done shooting young bucks. Im by no means a trophy hunter I just know if I shoot em small they will never get big. But to put in all that time and effort to finally get the chance I got and I messed it up. Brokenhearted and totally lost my confidence to hunt. Ughhhhhhhhh
always look forward to and enjoy your videos. where did your dad get the ladder rack for the atv?
Joe, will 2019 be the year of the new cabin?
Can someone explain difference between his tent and a cabin? I see wood walls and doors so im confused.
johnroosterrod65@gmail.com David Gutz, his Dad has the cabin, and Joe has the 'Tent'! Joe will build a cabin, eventually... But it suits his needs for now! Joe's 'Tent' does have a floor and walls, but it's a tent, for now. Semper Fidelis
How much land do you own at the tent
We call them Tamarack in Canada but I thought Americans called them something else. I know where there is a 2 story log building made with 24 inch squared Tamaracks. We figure it is 160 years old.
Hey Joe ...kylie from New Zealand .....about how long do you cook your pork steaks and
Potatoes on the BBQ ....looks delicious .
Put the potatoes on the grill 20 minutes before the steaks right over the coals while the coals are burning and turning to ash. Put the steaks on at about 20 minutes because they will take about 15 minutes with the top closed. Take and squish the potatoes between your fingers and if they squish they are done if they are still hard they will need a little more time.
Did I see right? Does your truck have nearly 200,000 miles on it?
I had the motor totally rebuilt and bullet proofed at 151,000. Shes almost broke in now. Lol.
That's brilliant: I just bought a 4x4. It's an ex demonstrator from a dealer, Skoda Yeti 2.0Tdi and I'm hoping it lasts as well as yours. I like to look after my stuff too.
Hey Joe I live in California I was wondering how much it cost to fill your truck up with diesel fuel where you're at and how much fuel does it take to get from where you're going to the tent as always I enjoy your videos so much keep up the good work
Diesel is 3.19 a gallon right now. My truck runs on average about 475 miles per tank. It is 225 miles to the Tent. I have a 30 gallon tank.
May have been asked but what make is that indoor weather unit is that? I like. Thanks.
Ambient weather Osprey
was that a salt lick zach was bring in ?
Yes.
Did you cut all the brush around your ground blind ?
Hey Joe its Joe I'm curious is to where abouts you deer hunt because i deer hunt jut off of hwy 21 outside of Ely on johnson lake in surperio national forest...good luck hunting this weekend
❤️❤️❤️
Awesome video, so when are you going to turn the tent into a cabin I can't wait for those videos
I am in no hurry, the Tent is holding up very well.
Hey Joe what ever happened to ur Argo? Haven’t seen it in awhile.
I have two diffrent guns i hunt with one is a 303 british and the other one is a remington 770 in 243 de pending on where i go hunting depends one what i use most the time i use the 243 its lighter then the 303 hunting started here in maine today
the .243 is a good gun, not much recoil and a flat shooter. I have shot many deer with that .243 as well as Antelope.
What brand and model number is your weather station you show off and on during this Video. Would really like to get one. Thanks.
It is an Ambient weather Osprey.
Thanks Joe and or Zachary.
Joe- is your new house closer to the tent ?
Yes, almost exactly halfway there.
Why not split it close to the tent where you use it
what do you have under your stove in the tent?
Durock cement board.
ok thanks! i am putting in a wood stove in my porch on my RV! looks like it would work good!
i don't know what it is, but it seems like us hunters eat more and better at deer camp. i thought we ate a lot at are camp but you out do us and your only 1 guy lol... your camp reminds me of mine up in michigan's U.P can't believe you leave that log splitter up there out in open, it be gone in are neck of the woods. the wife wants to know if theres a misses? cause it seems like your always at the ''tent''
Tell her to watch the videos on my other channel Northern Seclusion. I have all the Melissa and I stuff on that channel. she is my fiancee. I was married 26 years and had 3 children and then got divorced. During the divorce I met Melissa who lived in Louisiana. You can follow the whole story and my busy life on Northern Seclusion.
@@JoeandZachSurvival she just needs to stay off my computer lol... didn't mean nothing by it . keep the great video's coming
Thought you put in a water well... yet toting water?
Yes I did and I use it sometimes but water up there is very iron stained so I still like to bring up water and use the well when I run out.
Another great and relaxing video one u should just go up there and do nothing relax u earned it and yes iPhone is better they can take the hits looking forward to deer opener video soon u said 13 days yahoo
If I went anywhere and did nothing I would go crazy. I actually slept pretty good when I was up there this time and for me to do that I have to exhaust myself out during the day.
Ok cool joe keep the videos coming they relaxing to me watching them and will u still be going south during winter
Hi Joe, I was wondering if you ever cook breakfast? Your food always looks delicious, but I haven't seen you doing the eggs, hashbrowns ,etc.
I never eat breakfast, my first meal of the day is lunch.
johnroosterrod65@gmail.com Backer5874, I don't think he eats breakfast. I think his first meal is lunch. To each, his/her own!
Ever thought about foodplots?
I don't think Joe can have food plots, because it National Forest Land. Joe only has 10 acres that he owns. He hunts a few miles away. Semper Fidelis
