@@festersuncle6298 No they didn't tour and might have been somewhat bigger though you can never depend on the lousy tastes of the masses to appreciate greatness. Jim Morrison/Doors did, Robert Plant said Forever Changes was his favorite record of all time.
i know im asking the wrong place but does any of you know a way to log back into an instagram account..? I was dumb lost the login password. I appreciate any help you can offer me
What a great interview and what a gracious man! Nothing but the facts, as he lived them, without a drop of rancor or cynicism. These guys made incredible music, and that fact never changes.
Forever Changes is unquestionably a desert island disc for me. What an interesting interview. Echols was so gracious to agree to do this. I loved hearing his stories and learned so much. I thought you also did an amazing job with your interview. Great questions! You handled it like a pro. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
2023 and this is still a great interview. It was good to hear Johnny's side of the story of Love. For someone like me who recently discovered the music of Love, this 60+ year-old appreciated this interview very much! ❤
Thank you for this wonderful interview with Johnny Echols. I bought "Forever Changes" back in 1967. I love, Love, today as much as I did 50 years ago. Loved hearing LOVE's story.
The best interview about the original group I have ever heard. I remember Love playing at our High School in 1966 in Pasadena. One of my top 5 fav groups all my life.
Johnny Echols is literally now a " Senior " spokesman for Rock & Roll. An amazing summary of Rock royals he worked with. Great memory. He has a book in him.
Indispensable album. Had it from the beginning and still dipped into regularly. In the first wave of magical sounds from the States. Wonderful that Arthur was able to revive the album and bring it to a new audience in his later years.
So good to hear Johnny talk about my fav album of all time. What great bloke. I've always adored his superb guitar playing on FC but never knew he was responsible for the gorgeous 'Flamenco' guitar on Alone Again Or. Great interview.
Wow! I have been a fanatic Love fan for years and there is info in here that I had no idea. This was a fantastic interview! The store Luv Brassieres was inspiration for the band name for instance. So cool. And the interviewer is a model of how to do an interview. He lets the subject talk and fully express himself. Thank you.
Excellent interview. A rare case in which the interviewer actually knows what he is talking about, and Mr. Echols articulated his experiences very well. Have heard some of the studio banter during the recording of this classic album, plus outtakes, very interesting.
Had the pleasure of meeting Johnny recently what a humble guy the man is. He had time to sign autographs ,have pictures taken and most of all to talk to the fans. Love a truly great band and Baby Lemonade with Johnny gave us all there in Bristol a night to remember.
What a great interview , very interesting to hear all his stories. Forever Changes is a unique special album , love your channel , keep up the good work
This band changed my life, no pun intended. Forever Changes is an album that took a few listens to really hit me, but when it did it's like it unlocked something magical. It's one of those rare albums that just becomes a part of you and I couldn't imagine life without it. Digging into the backstory of the band and the rest of the discography was one of the most fun discoveries I've ever had musically. This is a band that within a few months of discovering I knew had become one of my all time favorites, thanks to Arthur Lee, Bryan MacLean, Johnny Echols, and the rest of the various members for your contribution to culture and changing my life forever.
What a fantastic interview Eric! Johnny is such a chill/cool guy with a wealth of information on one of my favorite albums! Hats off to you, and keep up the superb work you're always spoiling us with! :)
Johnny Echols you're the best.keep it coming.never stop. Love 4 ever (ForeverChanges no.40 on rolling stone?huh?everyone secretly knows its the best.) I guess there will never be another Love but we can only try.
Great interview, amazed at Johnny's memory. I always liked Love, I knew Arthur had a fine voice, but I was hardly ready for how great Forever Changes was. It was the kind of record you brought home and just played it 20 times in a row. Only other record like that for me was Beggar's Banquet. Bummer in the Summer was my song, the one I sang to myself while driving around.
Huge thanks to both of you for having this conversation which was a total delight. Much respect and thanks for filling in some of the spaces for us in your history. Johnny, you are a wonderful human being. I have appreciated listening to your works and albums since the beginning. It's fascinating that Arthur Lee was more of a poet than a musician. Having the Castle to work out of and collaborate out of, must have been fantastic. Take good care, gentlemen.
That was a great interview, Eric. Forever Changes is without a doubt in my top 10 favourite albums of all time. It sounds like nothing else and no matter how many times I've heard it, the melodies are both beautiful and unpredictable - there's always a sense of "where is this going?" You got some great stories out of Johnny, stuff I never knew. Thank you!
+youmalty Ya know I did try and write a review for the album but it felt like I was just saying what's been said in so many other reviews, I felt I was adding nothing new, which is what lead me down the path to get Johnny on the show. At this point, I don't think I'll be covering anytime soon but I could revisit sometime or review some of the other albums by Love
I have heard of this album for years, but amazingly had never heard anything from it over the years and they are not discussed enough so I kinda just missed the boat on this one. Finally heard a couple of months ago and the hype is justified. Absolutely brilliant almost like they made this album with absolutely no regard to the outside world which is why it is timeless.
Thanks so much for getting this out there; Love and especially "Forever Changes" is and has been, a favorite of mine for decades. It's good to see Mr. Echols and his take on the music the group made decades ago.
Johnny Echols if you read this. Thank you so much for this great music you were such a vital part of. This may be the most outstanding interview I have ever heard with a World class Musician. Humble honest wow Thanks . Yeah Forever Changes to me the best Album of 1967 and I Love the Beatles . However your Guitar work was great. I play a bit myself so I know. THANK YOU
Johnny's turn now! Good man...im reading the book about Arthur now that is going over the same early years. I adore LOVE so much, a huge influence on me and on my writing also. Fantastic stuff.... and well done Johnny for calling it 'the UK' rather than just 'England' as 90% of Americans do, much to the annoyance of the Scots, Welsh and Northern Irish!
What a great privilege to be able to interview Johnny Echols! You've really won my respect with this one. Love has been one of those bands I had wanted to get into, but their stuff was super super hard to find. I had my hands on Love Revisited for a while but that's it. "Forever Changes was something I had read about for nearly 20-years before I finally heard it circa 1991. I immediately knew what all the fuss was all about! It would've been cool if Johnny Echols had a similar solo career running parallel to that of Arthur Lee's the whole time. Is it just me when I think that when people where digging Lenny Kravitz, it was really Johnny Echols that they would've really wanted?
What a cool interview to land!!! This was awesome. I love Forever Changes and it was so cool to get more on the 'Love' back story. Thanks so much for all of the additional interview bits you had to cut out in the end.
+BarakaPDub Thank you Paul. Yeah, it was one of the rare cases where my interview episode was longer that the bits that cut out, so I that's why I made them separate little videos.
Eric, kudos on a wonderful interview with Johnny. This was terrific and I hope that you might be able to do more of these kinds of interviews with the actual artists themselves. Keep up the great work!
A terrific interview! Thanks so much for this! Johnny turns out to be a very well-spoken man with a terrific memory and an ingratiating manner. Some fascinating bits here about one of the all-time-great albums....
Man I love Love! I wish that they spoke more about the first two albums witch I think are so much better than forever changes. The first time I heard forever changes I thought it was a wretched disappointed of an album compared to the first two albums.
Johnny gives very insightful answers in your interview with him. I learned a lot I hadn't heard of before, and I've been a fan for decades. Thanks for another great episode!
why love arent even in rock n roll hall of fame is beyond me when lesser bands swan in!.......love influenced the doors, lez zeppelin, syd barrett and countless others!....... was lucky to see love revisited with johnny echols and their amazing last touring band called baby lemonade!......the guys played the 3 classic albums! ....... blew the roof off!..... johnny had all the cool of arthur lee in spades! .... every inch a rock legend!..... so uber youthful and achingly cool and likeable!........ simply amazing! ......best gig ever in glasgow, scotland
Awesome memories and details that Johnny shared here. Learned a ton of info that answered some questions i’ve had for quite a while. 10/10 interview this is great
forever worthwhile interview. I am grateful to be enlightened by the stories, and now know that what I always assumed was the shape of Africa , is the shape of a heart, changing my comprehension of the cover art.
Utterly fascinating 👍🏻. I was into LOVE from the start and bought my first copy of “Forever Changes” when it was first released. MASTERPIECE then and now 🤷🏼
Love and Forever Changes disappeared from memory until interest in the early the early 80's by UK post punk groups that were blending punk and Psychedelic. Interest built up until the later 80s where a complication was released for the U.S/ Canada and I bought it. The albums were very hard to find before that...or very expensive.
Very interesting and informative interview for the band love, and all the band histories prior. Nice yamaha amp and turntable clean the album and stylus and put that album on. The fact that the music industry would promote the new album with a billboard, A BILLBOARD, is too cool, make it known and put everyone on to the music.
Great interview. I'd written you off because of the retro cartoon stuff, but it was great to see you being genuine and of course Mr. Echols is always a class act. Great stuff dude.
Johnny is just as cool I thought he'd be. I have always loved L❤VE!! How they're not up there with the BEATLES & STONES & the other big bands has always a mystery to me!
Love is such an underrated group.
Love is now and will forever be a cult band. That's why they're so special to folks. Agree?

Thanks for this. A real contribution to rock history.

What a fabulous interview and what a great guy Johnny Echols is. A real treat for us Love fans!
Greatest record ever made.
Yup, had it from the beginning.
Excellent interview ..Forever Changes one of the best Albums ever..
Great interview.Thank you ever so much. I'm so happy I ran across this. Great history lesson.
This is absolutely fantastic. One of my favorite albums.

Thanks Johnny for telling us how it really was!
5 minutes into this interview... I'm thinking wow this one of the most interesting interviews with a musician I have ever seen... Great stuff
Great interview. My late brother was a big fan of this group in the 60's! Excellent!
+Colldan09 thank you for watching
WHat a treat this was, great to hear such background, these interviews are really so special. This show should be mainstream

excellent interview of someone who hasn't been heard of since 1968 (Your mind and we belong together b/w Laughing stock)
What a fantastic interview. I LOVE the history he went into. Learned a few things.
So sad Glenn Frey Eagles passed! Happy you are safe and sound home from Miami shoot! Johnny Echols rocks!!!!!
Again... The most underrated channel on UA-cam. Great work Eric and company.
+jfretless thank you very much
Yes concurred. Great interview. This team did your homework.
What a fantastic interview Eric! Johnny is such a chill/cool guy with a wealth of information on one of my favorite albums! Hats off to you, and keep up the superb work you're always spoiling us with! :)
John was interviewed for the current Charles Manson series on HBO. Intelligent, cool
Love these kinda of interviews with legends like Johnny Echols. Thanks for posting. Forever Changes rocks on.
legendary band! great interview.
Bless him, Love influenced so many artists, he deserves an imense recognition as being part of this timeless masterpiece.
One of my bands used to do 'A House Is Not A Motel' years ago, it was a favorite of mine to sing, it flows so well.

WOW, Johnny Echols and Arthur Lee started with THE Coasters, Little Richard, Billy Preston (of Beatles fame) AND Marilyn McCoo of The Fifth Dimension!

Fantastic review! Thank you and keep it up man! Keep our great legends going!
great interview. forever changes will always remain ..
This is so cool! Thanks for making this fine interview with an important guitarist available.
I saw Lee in a small club in 1995 in NYC, he was great.
Bought this album back in the Spring of 1968 after hearing "You Set The Scene" on WYBC (Yale radio station). Never stopped listening to it.
I must say it, I love Love. Forever Changes is one of my favorite albums ever!!! They’re so underrated!!

Bravo Well done.A very informative and enjoyable interview.
+doccyclopz thank you
13:04 I don't understand what Johnny says because Arthur is credited as a guitarist on the album
Arthur was a minor player when it came to instrumentation.

fantastic interview, I really enjoyed listening to his personal story.
nice interview

High Moon Records outta NYC has rolled out stellar releases of Black Beauty and Real to Real:)
I just discovered this fact and I want to pick them up now.
only the cool kids had that album--it's a fantastic record, and the live dvd of it with them young people always brings a tear to mine eyes
One of the best interviews I've ever seen! Great stories!
