Can't wait to see the new design guide. Good guidelines for setting up different type of filtration would be great along with different pond shapes.

Really been enjoying the videos and helpful information. I hope the design guide includes info on bottom drains and bog filters.

I want to make a raised pond (about 4000 gal.) with both an undergravel filtration and a bog filter. Both similar but I want bog plants to help consume nitrates.

I laugh hard when you said "5 gallons bucket with a small goldfish". That is how i started when i am 7, a bucket with some floating plants.. :-D

Design guide. I like the current design guide for its overview of the different types of ponds. I would like to see something that would help me after I pick my pond type to lay out the pond and come up with the final plan.
Additionally, it sounds like another video series suggestion... Under gravel pond filtration installation....

Is there any form of equation regarding pipe size and length. I've got excavation on approximately a 150x200 ft pond beginning in spring. It will be stocked with panfish, large mouth, walleye and perch.... Maybe a few goldfish or koi. My thoughts are approximately 1/3 of my surface are will be in the 1-3 ft range. This will have some trenches cut to lay 4 inch perforated throughout the shallow. The trench will be filled with a good bit of river wash and topped with several inches of pea gravel. I plan on a shelf that will lock this smaller stone in and my corrugated pipe will emerge at the transfer to deeper water 6-9 ft deep. Where my shelf is I'll connect some powerful airlifts and secure in place. That depth will allow more head and flow due to pressure gain at depth. On my deep end I plan on running 4 inch perforated as well same idea but trench with pipe, enclosed by river rock and topped with rip rap rock. The shallow and deep will be connected at the drop off shelf via airlift. Essentially with a double wall airlift I can drawl from the deep as an inlet, enter airlift and push out through planted shallow for regeneration zone. I forgot one piece my 4 inch perforated pipe will have a 4 inch cap allowing access should I need to feed a transfer pump in for solid or waste clean out. My thought is running 2 hiblow 100LL or 120LL pushing six 3 inch ID sleeved 4 inch OD airlifts with 2x4 inch stone. I've got a handle on concept. I've kept many fish and exotic reptiles and amphibians. My career was private military tech literally building missiles and rocked systems. I know how to work tools, math, prints and have sound mechanical ability. I've not seen any form of equations based on flow, diameter or run length say per volume of water. I understand I've really got one opportunity and would prefer getting it right and not being forced to add or change as waters filling. Any help would really be appreciated or any nudge to a reference of similar theme. I figure principals are principals regardless of size but due to the size this isn't an easy change or correction. Thanks.

Why do a pvc suction grid. Just make a platform, just like an undergravel aquarium filter. Then you can have a back flush valve.

Thanks to your video on how to build a koi pond I finally took the plung and built my pond 3m x 2m x 1m. I do have a small question on the stone lining though, is it ok to use a lime stone edging or will the buffering effect change the water chemistry to much?

Hoping to get information on how attach the grid to a pump. Can you guide me on this system? Can you hook it up to a helix skimmer with a submersible pump?

you are awesome dude, the other day I went in to get pvc cement and by mistake I grabbed the transition cement. I did the job anyways - should I expect to have to redo my pvc to pvc connections ?...and why is there "medium" cement ?..is it viscocity or strength ? thank you - sry I don't have twitter or fb

In your opinion, is it just as effective as a bare bottom? With a properly done UG filtration do you ever have to empty and vaccuum after so many years? Thanks !

for an under-gravel filtration/suctions system, is it crucial to cover the PVC with "round" shaped gravel? also how crucial is the size of the gravel?

Sad day at my pond last night hubby and I were sitting on the front porch enjoying the pond and a we saw a big toad grab 1 of my fantails and stuff it in his mouth before we could get to it .We searched for an hour .Well I stayed up all night and caught 12 regular frogs and 3 toads .But my fantail popeye is gone .Olive oil is lonely for her mate .They were 11 years old and big .they were some of my original fish .My 13 original fish. You don't know how much I wanted to smash the toads but I took them to a creek 10 miles from my house .The frogs went to people who needed frogs to cut down on mosquito's .They just moved in and could not enjoy there porch
