I am watching Frances and Friends on SBN and Frances just said that Walt went home to be with the Lord last night. His song....I'm On My Way to Heaven....has come true, Frances said. What a loss to the body of Christ....praying for God's peace and comfort for his dear wife Betty and family. Walt will be missed but we rejoice for the life he lived and that he is now in the arms of God, rejoicing with the angels and fellow saints.

Our beloved father, father in law, grandfather and husband Walt Mills was promoted to his heavenly home tonight around 5:30pm CST. He is now rejoicing with those that have gone on before him. We will greatly miss him and look forward to seeing him again one day in that place called heaven.
Funeral arrangements are pending.

I'm really going to miss seeing Walt Mills down at Brother Swaggart's church. I always looked forward to his singing and preaching. It was also fun to listen to Walt and Jimmy give each other a hard time. Boy, they could make you laugh. Well, Walt, you've made it to Heaven! Now you can sing praises to our King Jesus, and we'll join you when we get there!

I appreciate the fact that JSM is opening their door to other Holy Ghost singers out thee like Walt Mills and Nancy Harmon. PTL for the anointing of the Holy Ghost on this song! I remember Swaggart singing this song way back in the 70s........he did a vamp with the line....."I'm on my way to Heaven....and sang it over and over and over before he got to the last line: "And the journey gets sweeter every day.." :)

Yes it is the original Walt Mills. He's much older now but still one of the greatest singers in gospel music history wo wrote the classics where the timbers cross, one day I will and of course this his signature song im on my way to heaven.
