His last fight against Delahoya. He was getting his ass handed to him, then the liver shot, heard around the world. That look of utter agony on Delahoya's face, as he squirms around on the mat in the fetal position.
Damn, Bernard just waited patiently for that opening, because he watched 100s of hours of Oscar's fight. Then BOOOMMM!!! & he collects that victory check, because he put in the work!

Bernard Hopkins is right regarding sugar. 3 out of 4 Americans over 18 are now considered overweight or obese. No wonder so many people are getting cancer, diabetes or having strokes and heart attacks. Our bodies were not designed to carry around so much extra weight. I've had to learn the hard lesson myself. Props to Bernard Hopkins regarding his nutritional decisions!

Also, Bernard Hopkins makes good observations regarding alcohol. Alcohol has no productive use within the human body. What is the point of drinking alcohol? I never found alcohol to move my life forward. Alcohol is just unnecessary, wasteful calories.

I gave up soda and fruit juice 4 months ago(only carbonated drink I have is perrier as well). It was hard to get over it but once you do, you feel so much better. Less bloated and easily knock off 10lbs without trying. Your brain looses the craving for sugar as well over time and you begin to crave water more.
I truly believe that sugar consumed in large amounts is a drug and can change the way your brain functions.

I follow the career of Bernard Hopkins religiously. He is a very intelligent man. I got into boxing five months ago and boxing has permanently changed me and my life for the better. Bernard Hopkins has been a huge inspiration to me. I have been able to quit drinking and smoking and clean up my diet to almost exclusively healthy food with B-Hop in mind. Bernard's eating habits are disciplined and intelligent. The average american has no idea how much better life can be with a diet, mindset and lifestyle more similar to Bernard's. Putting only good food into your body and making tomorrow even better than today is challenging, rewarding and intelligent. I'm grateful Graham has allowed Bernard to further spread his intelligent message. Bernard's defeat of Antonio Tarver was masterfully planned out, executed and intelligent. His diet was one of the tools and weapons that allowed him to intelligently do it. Bernard is perhaps the most intelligent boxer of all time even more intelligent than Floyd. Bernard's record isn't quite as flawless, but his body and health and mind now is...
    Intelligent.

    Soda goes amazing with food.
    Its very hard to quit.
Its everywhere and its soooo good.
Diet soda makes people think its safe, but really its a bottle of chemicals and artificial junk.
    Water is the anti-dote.

His allusion of sodas being like crack is so accurate. I used to have sodas a lot, even as I saw my friend succumb to diabetes at 11 years old. But one day as an 18 year old, I quit for 3 years and my back and joint pain went away in a week; as well as my weight gain normalizing instead of ballooning in a year. I still was eating a lot of food then but just no sodas and it was a game changer. I'm not above taking it once in a while, one glass at a party or something. Reading up on the long-term studies about sodas, it's literally poison that we consume on the reg. Maybe there will come a time when sodas would be a controlled substance but it is what it is.

Hopkins ideas on diet are very good, and he sounds very disciplined in avoiding things that he said "are not good for you". However, he loves the sport of boxing, where the brain gets intentionally battered all the time, and many end up with substantial or even tragic brain damage. Hopkins seems to have been lucky in that regard so far, but what a gamble it was.

On the other hand some fighters took horrendous punishment in multiple fights but appeared mentally normal in old age.

I 100% agree with him on soda, as well as fruit drinks and cold coffee drinks they sell. There's tons of sugar in all of that stuff and it is killing us with diabetes, overweight, high blood pressure and so on.
