As a mexican who has had both, I would agree mexican food usually relies more on spice with a kick, while puerto rican food is like spice to accompany a general sweetness(?). I feel alot of PR food always has a tinge of sweet to it, be it a sugar sweet, a milky sweet, or a fruit sweet with just a dash of spice.
The thing is that Connor is from the UK/Welsh, so while he's had contact with Spanish people, he's quiiite a distance away from the Caribbean, even further from Mexico, so it makes some sense that he's not super familiar with the breadth of Latino people and cultures.
This, nearly all the latino diaspora is in the Americas, and most of what Brits get taught about Spain in school comes down to "hey, you guys know that one time they tried to invade us and it hilariously backfired and that was totally what started their slide into global irrelevance? wasn't that neat?" You're also more likely to be offered German as a language option to learn there than the one hundreds of millions of people speak across much of the Caribbean, Central and South America, so its really no wonder that there isn't much knowledge about Spanish speaking countries. What is messed up to me is that other than a bit about India, the US(mostly well post independence) and the "Race for Africa" we were never really taught about former colonies, not even like geographically let alone historically. We did learn about our role in the slave trade, so that's something at least
Yeah, I'm from the north of England and I have literally zero knowledge of Puerto Rico, I have like 0.1% knowledge of Mexican culture and that's from some small amount of food that I've had and some media stuff, even Spanish culture I have no idea because I've never been and was never taught Spanish in school, we studied German instead. So I know so little about any of this stuff. Germany I know a bit about, I've been to Germany, France, Belgium, Cyprus and Italy so I know bits and pieces about their culture but outside of that it's just nothing but US and Japanese stuff.
Your mom correcting Gordon was a funny and so relatable bit, my mom (we're Filipino btw) does it so much! Also, I just learned that pegao is similar to what we call tutong na kanin, basically when the rice is either left in the fire for too long or the fire is too hot, it's so good!
Poor connor, innocent welshman always made fun of. The irony is people just call him an englishman which is tbh a bit of an insult, same as calling a scot or Irishman English, they hate it.
The pegao part reminded me of when Gordon tried to make pad tai and the chef who specializes in that style of food told him that he didn’t make anything close to pad tai

All jokes aside, this is adorable, tu madre es adorable y I love to see some representation of Puerto Rican creators on the internet ☺️🇵🇷🇵🇷🇵🇷
Gracias!💗
Connor earned an evening... with La Chancla with that discussion.
so you see folks... even a Puerto Rican mom agree with IronMouse.
case closed
It reminds me of how my mom and I started reading mangas and anime together and she then got into kpop. It can happen. Funny thing is, she was as skeptical about anime as an other regular mom, then she fell in the hole.
Your mom is here, FOREVER. But seriously, this was a treat, thanks.
first I was expecting some sort of shock at Ironmouse's behavior
then Gordon Ramsey showed up and became a common enemy
I just want to say that I really apreciate your mom for being so respectful. My parents can't even respect a 'regular' person, image a girl with a anime avatar
Honestly I had the biggest smile when I saw this pop up on my recommend. Can't wait for mouses reaction to this
Same
Same
Aw man ya had to hit us with the 4th anniversary and then straight into Ave Maria, I wasn’t ready for this 😭😭😭
Very funny to see your mom react to the reaction tho, very cute. Another banger of a video spiky.
Really brings the tears
I very much enjoyed you translating the clips as well when iron mouse spoke
I like how connor is being clowned on lol
Mouse: WHY DID YOU SHOW ME TO YOUR MOM?
Him: and I’ll f*cking do it again too
Interesting to learn how different Mexican food vs Puerto Rican food
it blew my mind to hear that Puerto-Rican cuisine isn't spicy
As a mexican who has had both, I would agree mexican food usually relies more on spice with a kick, while puerto rican food is like spice to accompany a general sweetness(?). I feel alot of PR food always has a tinge of sweet to it, be it a sugar sweet, a milky sweet, or a fruit sweet with just a dash of spice.
@@Thewisemanoncesaid yep, and mostly is fried. Anyway both of our countries have to much tasty food for any occasion.
i love how the face changed on your mom's avatar as she reacted to iron mouse's clips, nice touch
Spikky your a genius for this bro and also your mom is wholesome as hell
I love the reactception at the end. and really the whole dang thing, it's great. unironically, word to ya mother
She said the same thing Koefficient said, that it looked like mamposteao
Man, next thing you know, Mousey's gonna be callin' your mom in to collab.
Show your mom the oven story.
The time her father sprayed holy water
oven story?
You got my attention. Where can I watch that part?

The thing is that Connor is from the UK/Welsh, so while he's had contact with Spanish people, he's quiiite a distance away from the Caribbean, even further from Mexico, so it makes some sense that he's not super familiar with the breadth of Latino people and cultures.
This, nearly all the latino diaspora is in the Americas, and most of what Brits get taught about Spain in school comes down to "hey, you guys know that one time they tried to invade us and it hilariously backfired and that was totally what started their slide into global irrelevance? wasn't that neat?"
You're also more likely to be offered German as a language option to learn there than the one hundreds of millions of people speak across much of the Caribbean, Central and South America, so its really no wonder that there isn't much knowledge about Spanish speaking countries.
What is messed up to me is that other than a bit about India, the US(mostly well post independence) and the "Race for Africa" we were never really taught about former colonies, not even like geographically let alone historically. We did learn about our role in the slave trade, so that's something at least
And Europeans keep giving us crap for not knowing anything about them, SMH.
@@seawind930 I mean there are a lot more islands than European countries.
Germany I know a bit about, I've been to Germany, France, Belgium, Cyprus and Italy so I know bits and pieces about their culture but outside of that it's just nothing but US and Japanese stuff.
i mean thats why you learn about stuff before making dumb statements like you are an expert right?
These videos are so damn wholesome, I love it.
This confirms what Koe said. This is definitely Mamposteao.
Your mother is wonderful, thank you for sharing a little of her with us.
I'm 2 minutes into this video, and I already love your mom
Honestly your mom seems like such a nice lady. Was nice seeing the first and second part to this.
Thanks a lot!!!
@@spikysmom8216you need to be a UA-camr. Id sub LIGHTNING FAST
Your mom correcting Gordon was a funny and so relatable bit, my mom (we're Filipino btw) does it so much!
Also, I just learned that pegao is similar to what we call tutong na kanin, basically when the rice is either left in the fire for too long or the fire is too hot, it's so good!
No me esperaba una parte 2, que alegría para un viernes por la noche
Your mom is so freaking wholesome! I love her reactions! 😄😄😄
Thanks!
This video is so adorable, also if Connor reacts to this I'm gonna lose it XD.
Poor connor, innocent welshman always made fun of. The irony is people just call him an englishman which is tbh a bit of an insult, same as calling a scot or Irishman English, they hate it.
Seeing her cry, i don't know why, i don't know her .. but it honestly brings a tear to my eyes.
It is because Mousey is that sibling we never knew we wanted.
When she said even we Mexicans have spice in our breakfast i died and I immediately thought of tamales
I just like when Gordon adds the butter and both the mom and Ironmouse are just YELLING in Spanish at him. hahaha
Thank you for the Inception flashback. Your mom reaction videos are so much fun.
The pegao part reminded me of when Gordon tried to make pad tai and the chef who specializes in that style of food told him that he didn’t make anything close to pad tai
this is one of the best things i've ever seen two anime girls team up to shit on Gordan Ramsey
That was so enjoyable to watch! Really funny stuff and also very sweet. Mama Spikyy really is a lovely person, and I hope you give her plenty of hugs. Thank you for the video.
Thanks!😊
The sequel we all want and got
This reminds me so much of making dinner & hanging out with my grandma. It's really beautiful. Thank you.
Your Mom is so nice, patient, and smart. These videos were wonderful and I hope she has a great day.
Double roasts on Gordon and ending absolute warmed my heart, I subscribed. First time seeing your videos!
Gonna wait to Moucey's reaction to this now, hope you'll upload the second one also since I'm not much of a twitch person)
Sooo wholesome! Sooo much fun!
I love you, MamiSpikyy! ❤
This was so wholesome and funny and my face hurts so peace
We need a Puerto Rican mom ave Maria cover. Video was awesome!
10/10 would love to see this be a series where you get your mother to react to internet clips!
Also gonna start learning this language so i can listen while doing house work.
as a puerto rican seeing this i have to say this is torture, pegao is something natural from cooking puerto rican rice .. XD this video heart my heart !!!
Why did you have to do Connor like that and that be the first clip she’s seen of him please show her more clips of mousey and Connor it’s so funny I love this series it’s really good
I did show her more clips of Ironmouse and Connor but, if I left everything in, the video would've been over 45 minutes long
@@iSpikyy ok is that going to be in the next vid Friday or in two weeks or no
@@peterhunsberger5002 Hopefully this Friday, I'll have to record some other clips to fill it out so we'll see
I see this as an absolute win
Let the young son compete.. if you know what I mean
@ispikky the next one should include the part that shows how supportive Connor actually is, when their not screwing with each other. (E.g. the time he asked her what the noise was that sounded like a Geiger counter, and she got super embarrassed because it was her Oxygen Tube. He legit panicked like never before trying to make it right. Lmao. Also just for reference, they were playing 'the forest' during that vod..)
She's so wholesome! She reminds me so much of my own mom! She warms my heart
Love this reaction, also love the sketch art of your Mum, really great styling!
Both of these videos are gods works, iv haven't laughed this hard in a long time both you and your mum are awesome.
I had respect for Gordon but he didn’t know how to do pegao and he disappointed all puertoricans 😂
I enjoy this. Congratulations to you and your mom. This is both wholesome and enjoyable. I hope mouse wacthes this to, as it was great to wacth the 1st one on stream.
The first one is this series Excelente! Never thougt there whould be a part 2! Muchas gracias iSpikyy! :^)
Me too
These are so cute. Can’t wait to see your mother react to mousey reacting to this reacting to mousey reacting to her
I hope they find a cure for IronMouse, I wanna see her actually get to hang out with her friends not just on stream but safely IRL 💙
thank you ironmouse and puerto rican mom for teaching me that pegao is not a dish, but a phenomenon
Your mom is amazing man Cherish her
This Was Lovely This Was A Great Part 2 Spike
Can you imagine how funny it’d be to show this to a stadium full of Puerto Rican moms? You’d need SWAT by the end just to stop them from storming Hells Kitchen! 😂
I fucking love how the mom called connor a moron LMFAO, i love this vid so wholesome and funny
I was waiting for this 🤩
Still can't get over the future mother in law comment
😆😂
