- A must watch video for all exchange students coming to Tsinghua University 清华大学. Includes tips for moving in, dormitory rules, life in Tsinghua tips etc...And for all of you who aren't coming, this just an overall funny video...don't worry I didn't forget about you ;) "You're still the one that I adore, ain't much out there to have feelings for."
I'm making a couple of Tsinghua University tips/guides to help incoming students in the future because moving in was such a stressful experience for me. I want to make the process easy, especially for students who don't speak Chinese. Don't worry, I'm still going to be making normal short films. I'd like to call them "Drake songs in vlog form."

How did you apply to become a scholarship exchange student? Im to Tsinghua for next year from Canada but I didn't see any scholarships to apply for through out the process.

Do you have to take the dorms or you can just have your own apartment? Outside the campus.
You definitely don't have to take the dorms. BUT it's way cheaper than renting outside fyi. Are you thinking of coming?

Nanae Honda I just wanna get a good understanding so I can answer all your questions and make sure you can make the right decision for yourself.
Hafu Guo of course studying is the most important thing but for me personally I care about friendship so I wanted to know if there are actually people who don’t only care about studying. I hope I don’t offend any people by saying this, but I’m scared if there are only people who just care about their grades. And also I was curious if Tsinghua has any English classes.

Nahhh I'm here on exchange from my home university. Are you thinking of coming straight from highschool?
Yup. I really would like to major in computer science and do research in the field, and Tsinghua is one of the best universities in the world for what I want to do, even more so than American universities. Did you take courses in Chinese, or those for English students? I ask that because I hear that the best professors are the ones teaching in Chinese, and I would like to take normal courses in Chinese along with the other Chinese students (I studied up to HSK 5 and am taking it this December, as part of the application requirements)
I'm so glad to hear that Isaac! You're gonna love it here. I actually took 80% of my courses this semester in Chinese. I had one professor who does branding and marketing for Microsoft and Huawei and all these billion dollar companies. I say definitely take Chinese courses if you can understand. I hope you get in!!
Why not choose more competitive universities like MIT, Stanford, CMU or UC Berkeley?
Tsinghua university major in computer science are very good but it is more biased towards the theory, if you want to become a researcher or scientist, you need to learn not just knowledge of computer science, including physics, mathematics and bioinformatics, and so on, if you are going to accept the challenge in undergraduate, tsinghua cross information institute (hereinafter referred to as "yao" class) is very suitable for you.But the standard of admission for yao's class is very strict, as only 30 students are admitted to the class every year in China, and most of these students have represented their country in international Olympic competitions in various subjects and won MEDALS in high school.By the way, all the classes in yao class are taught in English.Again, if you just want to be a good engineer or programmer then you don't have to choose tsinghua. Going to any of the top30 universities in the United States is not a problem.
