I switched to a certified cat-eyes cage (Bauer), bought at The Hockey Shop. I like it, it has its benefits and draw backs like you say. Spots that are two bars wide (where the bars meet) are also a bit distracting at times because there is so many of them. But overall I do like it more than the regular stock cage.
I just got one yesterday and it’s great rn but I haven’t used it in practice or game yet but I loving it easier to see straight without bars in the way also you do have to adjust the mask a little bit more to see through the eyes part
Certified cat’s eye, can’t stand straight bar. Ever since my old Vaughn mask came with a certified cat’s eye I can’t go back to straight bars and I’m so happy my Warrior F1+ can use the F2’s certified cat cage

Been using it with my nme 7 for years. Will get it again on the next bucket.
The timing on this is wild, I just had my straight bar cage get smashed in, and was looking at a cat eye as a replacement.

never used a certified cat eye, but i have no problems with my trusty straight bars.
Never a fan of the stright bars. I use a not certified cat eye. To me it has better view.
I wear the guardian angel Cateye cage. Extra open but safer than a standard cateye.
Regular cat eye with is for the last 25yrs
I prefer the certified cateye over the straight bar cage.
