    Excelent. My brake pin fell out this weekend, and I lost brakes instantly. Luckily, I was going about 5mph and could use my hand brake to stop. What I needed to know is, how that brake pin is held in place. Perfect info for me. Thanks.

      Tension holds the pin in place, that's it. One or both ends could be peened over after the pin is pushed into place.

    When living in upstate NY I modified my pedal assembly by adding a grease fitting and passages and groves so I could grease it in place a

    JBUGS, I appreciate your friendly answer, maybe I am thinking like if the car be mine, I must tell you about the complete restore done to a beeetle 1964 of my own, thanks for your attentions.

    Why is the stock accelerator pedal replaced with a roller ?

    • @Sam_Mebane
      @Sam_Mebane Рік тому +1

      Personal preference, VW used a roller pedal stock in the Beetle until 1957.

    Dear sir, interesting video, but please talk a little bit slower next time so I can completely understand what you're saying. Many thanks in advance. Grtz. Henny (hailing from The Netherlands)

    JBUGS,
    I know this video is older, I'm trying to restore the pedal assembly on my Karmann ghia and the pin that holds the pedal is not coming out.
    Maybe I haven't hammered it out hard enough as I'm not trying to mushroom it
    Any tips or tricks? Good ol'torch?

      A torch can certainly help and we’ve used one on more than one occasion, absolutely.

    What does the pedal stop do exactly? Does it keep the pedals from going next to the firewall and that's it? Thanks

    • @Sam_Mebane
      @Sam_Mebane 4 роки тому +1

      The pedal stop prevents the pedals from falling towards the back of the car. If the stop wasn't in place the pedals could fall opposite of the front firewall, and lay flat on the floor.

    With the roller did you use the stock pedal or did you replace the pedal as well. Part #?

    • @Sam_Mebane
      @Sam_Mebane 3 роки тому +2

      The roller pedal replaces the stock pedal.

    Why you didn't restore the floor area of the pedal assembly, there is a big corrosion problem, you should also paint the pedal assembly.

      The car will be coming apart for paint and body at which point the pans will be cleaned up and coated and all the components will be painted.

      Sorry, I'm not a voice over actor. There is a little gear you can click to change the playback speed to whatever speed is easiest for you to follow.
