I met Electronica at the Million Man March anniversary. I told him that We needed him and asked when was new music coming.... he smiled closed his eyes, took a deep breath and said " In Perfect Time" shook my hand and walked into crowd.
I would kill to just have a conversation with that man. His mind moves so fast he stutters trying to get the knowledge out. There’s a reason Jay Z grabbed him years ago and hasn’t let go.
If ya'll are listening to this and haven't seen the Film Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind make it happen. There is a reason this man took the soundtrack.
didnt get the chance yet.. apparently ive already watched half of it and didnt really like it, thats what my Girl says... im gonna watch it again though ...
Elpadaro F. Electronica Allah I came across the song at a time in my life where I felt powerless and utterly helpless. There is something about the eternal sunshine theme song that is so dreamy and melodic .It reminds me of a time when I believed anything was possible. Coupled along with Jays lyrics it's empowering. It's a song that actually has something to say; about the meaning of our lives... here I am 5 years later.. Travelling and teaching in Brazil my dream!
first time i heard this song, i literally cried. i have no idea why. there are so many rappers that rap about garbage and make u feel inadequate when u look at urself in the mirror. but jay somehow found the beauty that lives in everyones soul and put it into a song. no matter ur background, no matter ur race, no matter ur wealth, jays music doesnt give a shit. it doesnt boast. it balances with the natural karma of the universe in a way thats very unique. it gives you hope that there is beauty in ur life that spans beyond space and time.
I cried too... this song still makes me cry. Even Erykah talking about J gives me goosebumps in a good way... It almost feels like your listening to someone's funeral but Jays very much alive APITDA
jay electronica believes in god, not religion. he doesn't insist god is something, or someone, he raps about his idea of "god" and the energy and soul it gives him. I think he wants people to know "God" is what makes a person great, an individual, "God" isn't there watching over you, making choices for you "God" is just there, a ever pervading presence holding the energy of the universe in place
Jake Mullen I love when people write like this about people they've never met. imagine a stranger telling another stranger about what your belief in God is all about.
I remember towards the end of college, I had broken up with my long time high school GF, I didn't know where I was going in life and I would take these long walks listening to this, and the other Jay elec pledges and all the mixtapes...It was my time to think and reflect and heal myself....None of these young kids can tell me that THEY know more about hip hop than I do, none of their music gave them this feeling I had. This spirituality in music that I needed, WHEN i needed it. I was a white, Christian, college student, being as different from Jay as you could be, but I appreciated what he gave me when my soul needed it..thank you...I'll never forget this....
Niggas been sleeping on electronica for way too long. I try to tell my friends about him but they don't feel it. People need to expand their mental to understand jay lol
Listening to this today reminded me of my son in the backseat when he was a newborn, whenever he would cry I’d play this and he just would stop immediately.
Used to listen to this on repeat back when I was 15 or 16 playing World of Warcraft during summer. This song always made me feel good and his words spoke to me. Love this right here
Anyone believe in signs? weirdly i was cleaning my room and listening to this track for the very first time. And i so happened to be standing over my computer shining my fav diamond ring. And just as i began to buff it out i hear "Every thing i touch, turns into Ethiopian Gold shiny and Buffed." That verse made me stop and truly wonder was that just a well placed coincidence or a sign to keep pushing myself even harder towards my dreams and goals? The power of real music is boundless!!
Occam's razor, most likely a coincidence my dude. Check ur beliefs.. do they empower u or weaken u? go with the former rather than the latter. Its ur movie
after hearing this about 2 years ago i went back and actually found the movie Eternal Sunshine of the spotless mind with Jim Carrey and that movie is soo dope
This song is so next level It feels surreal just listening to it, like how did one man come up with something so magnificent and great, it amazes me every day the power each of us could have if we just worked at it and believe in ourselves. Truly a work of art, I will forever be grateful to be blessed by this because this changed my life when I first heard it 4 years ago.
My favorite line is in the end when he says "call me Jay Dogone I'm on some Sirius shit" and then do your research about the Dogone tribe..and their ancient knowledge that still can't be explained to this day.
This guy is incredible, His words and how he puts things together, is what hip hop is about, it's poetry not drug dealing, killing, sex, and chains. Honest music is the best music for your heart, not lies and deceiving.
This song is masterful. It utterly traves me back in time to my childhood, when all of my relatvies were alive. I remember so much, and miss so much, when I listen to this piece.
Right hand to the Almighty, Jay Elec is in a whole other dimension when it comes to making "rap" songs. These are pieces of sonic art with movements and the content is truly intelligent and can tell the man who wrote it is well read and cultured. I see a lot of smoke and mirrors with modern emcees who spew philosophical buzz words over a jazz beat and people think they're a "real emcee" whatever that even means. Better In Tune With the Infinite was the only other rap track to move me existentially. Hear it at the right time and it might make the eyes Misty. I can't blast on him for not putting out new music for the people because I don't know his personal life or reasons. Just hope he knows there are people that would really appreciate it and could really use the things he has to say now and again for the good and bad times. Which many of his songs portray ceaselessly.
heard about jay electronica decided to listen after i watched the erykah badu breakfast club interview where he had the 5percent chain same one jayz wore sayin he "stole" it happy i finally took the time to listen "Fuck that, fuck rap this God-hop..."
Wtf mane!!!!!! How is it im just finding this! Finally someone dropping truth and no one really wants to hear this. Its a sad state we're in when the people dont wanna learn no more.
I heard this song a few years ago and then watched the movie Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. It is one of my all time favorite movies now. This song is too perfect as well. I love cerebral rap and Jay is one of the best out there.
It’s literally blowing my mind how I came across Jay Electronica, I’ve heard him in another song w chance the rapper. I’m literally watching keeping up w the kardashians and they play Kanye’s song “waves” and I was sitting here like damn I really disconnected from music, I miss music so much wtf, and so I went and played the song and it just made me feel some type of way so I went thru the whole album idfk what I was looking for and Kanye’s last song in the album was giving me chills. “Saint Pablo” he said something like “ can see a thousand years from now in real life Skate on the paradigm and shift it when I feel like” and that shit gave me chills then he said “Thank God For Jay Electra, he down with the mission” and I went from there looking for him. Listened to a few songs then found this. Feeling like I was being led here. Really really feeling crazy like what does this all mean. I have a craving to understand I love shit like this I listen to this beautiful artist named Londrelle he gives me life, and I feel so happy to have found Jay and idek man. Tripping bro like how was I led here the turn of events was crazy. I woulda been asleep already on a normal day. Yet here I am. Trippin
The roaring of the lion of juda, the words of wisdom entering through the hearts and minds of listeners worldwide with the message of peace and sincerity. This does bring eternal sunshine within my mind.
There's only a few songs that makes me tear up, not because of the melodies, but because of the message. This is one of them... ...thank you Mr.Flowers.
Jay Electronica is so much bigger than rap. He's elevating our minds and souls to another level, like the lady said 'He's an alien, in a beautiful way...' He's giving life to the lifeless. The last King of rap. ALL HAIL JAY ELECTRONICA!!
I swear to god, Jay throughout time left little hints of the reality we live in, with wisdom knowledge and hope through his lyrics. I keep digging back into his music, his references with samples or lyrics and the more I research what he means and says The more in tune I am with not just with god (or gods idc what you believe in as long as it’s true, genuine and love) not just with the universe, but with myself. This man is definitely in my top 5 favorite artists of all time
Listened to this song for many years. There's four sections of course with different instrumentals: interviews, first, second, and third verses. Each section in order feels like a transition between a sunny clear-skied day, to a party cloudy day, to an overcast ominous day, to a rainy day
Aesop Rock next for you, my friend Shrunk (psychiatrist visit) Tetra (escape from his ex) Gopher Guts (loneliness and inadequacy) Dorks (dissing the 'cool kids' in rap) Lotta Years (dealing with aging) Daylight (random awesomeness) Defender (bobcat in the 'hood, lookout!) Crows 1 (death) Nickel Plated Pockets (life in NY) Christ there's so many. Lmk which were your faves and why ... and I'll narrow some more down for you .. pz bro
many people aren't privy to him or his music for the simple fact that he is so intellectual & knows his history VERY well. . & sadly, only a few amount of individuals can keep up, relate, & follow along & realize the ART they are listening to isn't your average rap. love it.
Alba Gonzalez He just seems to spit baths of wisdom and knowledge and sincerity when he raps. I think it comes from life experience, seeing lots of things and being able to analyze things deeply and in the context of life rather than just where you're coming from and alot of talent obviously. Pressure makes diamonds
+Jaikay1 If I may add. It's not just life experience. If you listen to his lyrics and his interviews he explains quite simply where he gained his light from. Even in this he says "Elijah" as in Honorable Elijah Muhammad, Nation of Islam, The five%ers (Clarence 13X "Father Allah") Then you can assume Prophet Noble Drew Ali information as well because all three coincide. It will bring about an awakening within ones self that hungers for the defeating of the devil you see in the mirror every time you wash your face until god is seen in that same mirror when your sinful ways (that being ignorance) are cleaned away. Then will the beast lay a sunder. PS Studying (not speculate or get told) the material laid down by those people above (The Prophet, The Honorable, Clarence 13X)and you too will have the knowledge and wisdom once understood to spit like lyrics guaranteed. Most importantly you will be on the path of self realization. Know ThySelf!
+Krishan Sapkota he stole music lyrics and melodies from other artists. I like him too but I put him in the entertainer category, he's not a writer, but he obviously has a great ear for music.
Listened to this for the first time while tripping. It’s been a favorite piece I have come back to ever since. Thank you for uploading it in it’s entirety
Elpadaro F. Electronica Allah - It is songs like this one that allow the hip hop fan to get a glimpse as to how Hip Hop can begin a transcendence towards the truth of humanity and it's Evolution. This is one of the most sincere compositions of sound...An amazing piece of the Universal symphony...#eternalsunshine #SOULHOP
Peace. So this has to b the best album I have heard in a long time. I can't stop listening to it. Also I don't to stop listening to it. Thank you for bringing Hip Hop back.
If i can be honest for a moment. This is the type of hip hop composition that gives me- honest to fuck-, hope for the future. I rarerely leave comments but, i dont know. Its the kind of music thatd make you grow some kinda owl like wings and put you in a real good up high area. One that today's hip hop could never reach Away from the bullshit.
"Call me Jay Dogon, I'm on some Sirius shit" got me so much in 2007 on top of the fact this dude came out of nowhere with a 24th Century hip-hop masterpiece.
This whole song has gems and occult knowledge. Jay is so ahead in time it’s ridiculous. This one also had me laughing because it’s so subtle. “I got a firm understanding on the minus and plus so I ain’t(ion) got time to argue with a rapper” it’s referencing ions but also the energy exchange all interactions have and especially the negative energy exchange in arguing and he has a firm understanding so he won’t engage
This song is one of the realist tracks ive ever heard! the samples are fkn genius! makes me question so much every time I hear it! I know im just the little man but keep doin what your doin!! Keep showin people its more to life and keep that elaborate and spiritual poetry alive!!
back in March 2012 on a cold Sunday morning I was walking to my local store to buy the morning news paper and some cooking oil. Anyway this man stopped me and asked if I knew the way to Proxima Centauri ? I laughed and pointed to the sky and said, " how do you plan to get there buddy ? ". " I've never left he replied " . Then he was gone , he disappeared before my eyes like some kind of day ghost . That man was Jay Electronica !.
i appreciate that you uploaded this piece in its entirety. Its the 1rst part of 3 Acts. only the Children of destiny truly get it.
Keep making beautiful music my G
I have a feeling we are already experiencing Act 2 ? , and waiting for Act 3 your prestige. keep making your magic.
Jay You are the best I salute you my friend peace and love
maximum respect keep making that monumental music
This is some excellent music, I think the world needs to be exposed to your talents and brilliant mind, sir.
I met Electronica at the Million Man March anniversary. I told him that We needed him and asked when was new music coming.... he smiled closed his eyes, took a deep breath and said " In Perfect Time" shook my hand and walked into crowd.

He said he identified as a Muslim in a recent periscope
Jake Mullen I love when people write like this about people they've never met. imagine a stranger telling another stranger about what your belief in God is all about.
He's a Muslim before that he was a 5 percenter. As knowledgeable as he is, he's always subscribed to religious beliefs.
5 percent is kindve not a religion.... and it kindve identifies with this comment

Nothing like this. Man 14 years later I still get chills especially on the last one
I get goosebumps from the little snippet after the intro ends just before the second instrumental starts. Even my body recognizes greatness.

Everytime I get in a dark place in my life, I always come back to this masterpiece. Thanks jay elec
I found it in the darkest place of my life. Nearly 11 years ago now - crazy how it helped.
Niggas been sleeping on electronica for way too long. I try to tell my friends about him but they don't feel it. People need to expand their mental to understand jay lol
sometimes i feel like im the only conscious..maybe even halfway conscious person in my city.. its terrible, my friend.
C James I hope not... that would be sad
***** Brotha you will hear of me in the future, and i dont know your name, nor do you know mine but when i change the world i wont forget you
Exactly everybody just sticks with the same rappers that there's no variety jay is gonna make classic albums just wait on it
Their are new energies aligning with the earth; everyone is not feeling them. Not at once. They will though.
This is a masterpiece. Jay electronica is a virtuoso
It's been over 10 years but this song still gives me all the feels. Thanks for uploading the whole thing.
Absolutely same
Truly timeless
Listening to this today reminded me of my son in the backseat when he was a newborn, whenever he would cry I’d play this and he just would stop immediately.
Jay has still somehow managed to be in my top 5 fav rappers with such little content to back it. He's different.
Quality over quantity my friend :)
Judas Boscorelli exactly how I feel. Absolutely incredible
sorry bro didn't mean to Mimic your thoughts but I also said quality over quantity... Dec 26, 2016... king god
Yep, him and Andre 3000
same he has stayed in my top 5, probably my fav one still. Nobody else is writing the subject matter that he does... incredible pen game!
The Erykah Badu phone call is some intense ass shit. Breast feeding to self-empowering masculine aura. Damn
Erykah is intense, period.
His lyrics are next level, its like hes rapping from heaven
He is one of the great ones . . . output actually means nothing. We'll still be coming back to this 20yrs from now and it will still hold true.

Daylight (random awesomeness)
Defender (bobcat in the 'hood, lookout!)
Crows 1 (death)
Nickel Plated Pockets (life in NY)
Christ there's so many. Lmk which were your faves and why ... and I'll narrow some more down for you .. pz bro
When I first heard this many years ago, my jaw dropped when he said “i.e. spaceships”
many people aren't privy to him or his music for the simple fact that he is so intellectual & knows his history VERY well.
+Persona self realization is deeper than history ..
Can i marry you
If Act 2 releases this year, I'll shit bricks.
you're gonna need a doctor my friend.
OG Logan Foster My man you should feel honored, because you just got a response from the one and only Jay Electronica.
Elpadaro F. Electronica Allah OH SHIT. Our king has spoken.
Elpadaro F. Electronica Allah woohoo
Elpadaro F. Electronica Allah Jay electronica is that really you?
Jay Electronica is the greatest of all time I don't even know if we deserve such greatness
Can't help but cry on some parts. It just came out at a wierd time in my life.
Jay is the Bob Dylan of Hip-Hop; a wise nomadic man travelling around the continent and the world, spreading the Tao of Hip Hop culture to the masses.
+Krishan Sapkota no comparison, bob Dylan is a thief...
+Krishan Sapkota he stole music lyrics and melodies from other artists. I like him too but I put him in the entertainer category, he's not a writer, but he obviously has a great ear for music.
Krishan Sapkota Sorry
Thanks Jay. For the inspiration, guidance, and reassurance. You do all that.
Peace
Last verse was spotless. Beautiful song
Listened to this for the first time while tripping. It’s been a favorite piece I have come back to ever since. Thank you for uploading it in it’s entirety
First time hearing this... and ... wow. This is real art.
Among my top 5 rap tapes of all time
Jay is the GOAT to me, from how this record makes me feel.
I love how Eryka describes Jay, how could you share that kind of admiration ad love and not continue to be together... that part is interesting....
She did said she hate it as well
This may be the single best thing I've heard from Jay.
I will be listening to this every day for months, heart melting.
Never ever ever wanna hear that this man isn’t one of the greats based on the lack of an “album”; make a greatest hits of his works and there you go.
And this is why I love Jay's work. Brings motivation into my life.
I cannot wait to see the heights you reach sir. I have nothing but respect for your fearlessness and artistry
***** maybe you are.... must you be so negative? Jay has actually responded to people on here ....
This is timeless.and he tells you that.
Same old cross different crucified messiah. Damn.
this is beautiful! I hope people talk about this when I'm gone.. and he's still here. WOW! what an impression he's leaving!
Peace.
So this has to b the best album I have heard in a long time. I can't stop listening to it. Also I don't to stop listening to it. Thank you for bringing Hip Hop back.
This is one of my favorite things of all time.
If i can be honest for a moment. This is the type of hip hop composition that gives me- honest to fuck-, hope for the future. I rarerely leave comments but, i dont know. Its the kind of music thatd make you grow some kinda owl like wings and put you in a real good up high area. One that today's hip hop could never reach
Away from the bullshit.
Jay Electronica is your favorite rapper's favorite rapper.
Saw your profile pic and thought this was u 😂
So inspired!!!!! I needed this! This is right on time!
This song is one of the realist tracks ive ever heard! the samples are fkn genius! makes me question so much every time I hear it! I know im just the little man but keep doin what your doin!! Keep showin people its more to life and keep that elaborate and spiritual poetry alive!!
Why are we not talking about this person being one of the best? Keep teaching, Jay.
back in March 2012 on a cold Sunday morning I was walking to my local store to buy the morning news paper and some cooking oil.
You have to love the subliminals throughout this track. Never forget the mission Jay.
Fifteen minutes of brilliance.
