I have eight thoughts outside of the being bombed during WWII, (which I didn't think of before reading comments). 1. My first thought, which was posted first by rollofnickles, is that a fire broke out and took out several houses before being contained, so those houses had to be rebuilt later. 2. That area was some kind of special building that they no longer had use for. Maybe a stable for horses. Maybe the garage that they kept maintenance equipment for the neighborhood-Mr. Soup said in an earlier video this was built for the workers way back when. Maybe a one story office for admitting workers to the housing and taking care of various affairs. Maybe a school, church, or even a small hospital for the workers. 3. The space was a small park, playground or cemetery for the residents. 4. A gas pipe or water main ruptured under one of the houses and took out the adjoining houses. 5. Earthquake. Also, do they have tornadoes in England? 6. Some deadly contagious disease was discovered in the residents of one or more of the houses, so the houses were destroyed, and rebuilt years later. 7. Some worker's son became fabulously wealthy and just to show how successful he had become, he bought several houses, knocked them down, and built a large one story house in their stead. When he passed away the new owners found it more profitable to tear down the place and replace it with several new houses. 8. Places were infested with vampires and werewolves. Had to burn 'em down.
Are you planning on making anymore in this series I enjoyed this! I'm from howdon so not far from you and I LOVE learning local history as do my 2 kids! Both have a huge passion for history and love your channel x
My thought as well. Bombed out or destroyed by aerial debris. It could have been re-purposed by the war ministry as well though it would seem unlikely.

Great idea for a series. I've got an idea for this one but I'll wait and see if I've guessed right.

sounds like a promising series :)
Catchy street-name, Mr. Soup! Good place to begin. I'm also guessing a bomb -- or maybe a V-rocket. Did they go that far north?
Yeah, I'd guess the Blitz, too.
Was that section of houses bombed during WWII?
My immediate thought too.

Could be a fire bomb where the fire spread to neighbouring houses, hence the pavements are in tact as the explosion was small.
jaocheu Yep, that makes sense.
The Tyneside area was hit pretty hard during the Second World War, so this looks like evidence of a bomb.
HE shells during the Blitz
Blitz
Must have been bombed.
