    Great interview!!! If you could ever snag one with John, I'd be eternally grateful if you could ask him what pedals he uses!

      It's been a while since I've asked him, but a few years back he was playing straight through an Ampeg SVT amp. No pedals. Next time I talk to him, I'll see if that's changed.

    • @DaveScottBass
      @DaveScottBass 6 років тому +2

      Erik Stone Yeah his tone changed sometime last year. In a podcast he mentioned to Korey about hitting his pedal. It’s a lot more punchier now. Seth told me on Twitter it’s a dirty and clean tone blended, but he didn’t know specifics on the dirty.

    • @ErikStone1
      @ErikStone1 6 років тому +1

      Hmmm...I wonder if he's using the Ampeg "Scrambler" effect. Scrambler is an effect built into many of the new Ampeg amps, and it combines clean and dirty signals to emulate an overdriven tube sound. It can be turned on and off with a foot pedal. I use this on my Ampeg, and it does make it punchier and raw sounding. Next time we text each other, I'll ask him about it.

      Erik Stone Thank you so much! I’d appreciate it a lot!

      I looked into the Ampeg Scrambler and it sounds a bit too fuzzy/overdriven in my opinion. Not quite a match. Seth said that it's a Mesa Pedal and guessed the Grid Slammer. He also said that he thinks John uses a Sansamp. If you need a sample on what he sounds like now, there's a recent video from Winter Jam this year in Atlanta. If you look at Whispers in the Dark, both Korey and Seth accidentally cut off during a portion of the song so only the bass is audible. It's a really cool sound that I'd love to emulate.

    Just gonna leave this saying it's nice to see something good come from Scioto County. I grew up not far from where he was from. Never knew him though. Friends of friends did. Scioto County is a hellish nightmare of drugs and prostitution. Littered with poverty.

      And? Seth is continuing Bens work while doing his own work, and Ben was continuing Ken steorts and Kevin Haalands work while doing his own thing as well. All are super talented and fit the band perfectly. With this current lineup of Skillet and the band constantly switching between their old school electronic sound and their newer heavier sound, Seth fits right in and pulls it off
