  • If you are wondering which stand mixer to buy, then look no further than Kenwood. I am a massive Kenwood fan, and in this video I review two Kenwood models, the Kenwood Chef and Kenwood Chef XL, based on my own daily experience.
I'm pointing out the pros and cons of both models, so I hope this review is useful for you to make an informed decision about which model would be best for your requirements.
Note - I am not being paid for this review.

Hi you can adjust the whisk with the screw on the top, it can be a hair from the bottom of the bowl
Please do another video for the XL to see the difference it would be educational for kenwood owners!!

Very useful thank you, and the comments below about adjustment spanners are very helpful too.

Great, practical review. I particularly agree about the difference between a sturdy Kenwood Chef and a Kitchen Aid.. As for the problem with the Chef XL whisk attachment not reaching the bottom of the bowl and so being unable mix small quantities so effectively, there is an adjustment spanner for the attachment which you can use to correct this problem.

Attachment doesn't reach the bottom because you need to adjust it . Should come with a tool to adjust and lower.

Lovely and informative breakdown of the differences between the two. May I ask if you have encountered any issues with the coating on the XL attachments?

I picked up a standard Chef on marketplace a coupleof years ago for £40. It's 20 years old, I use it every day and I'd recommend it to anyone. When I got it the attachments (especially the dough hook) were very badly adjusted, but once I had fixed that I can't fault it. My mother had one of these which lasted over 50 years so hopefully this one will see me out!

Thanks for this review! I’ve been trying to decide whether I should get an XL or standard size Kenwood and this was helpful.
    P.S. are you Afrikaans?

    Good review.
I'm trying to decide if i should bye one.
I'm concerned about the fact that the bowl doesn't have handles, did you encounter any problems with this?

There are bowls with handles and even on the plastic ones the are two handles by which you can hold them.

Power doesn't mean much. Commercial models have only around 300 watts. The big factor is the gearing for torque. If a mixer has lower wattage, but higher torque, it will easily outperform higher wattage mixers with lower torque.
