I do miss a bit more edge in the characters but i've grown attached to everyone, and I spend all of my time off playing. Been a while since that happened😅
"I was back in Thedas, and I was home". Hell yeah, that's how I feel. It's quite different to how I felt about Mass Effect Andromeda, a game I do like but feels divorced from it's predecessors, Veilguard still feels somewhat like Dragon Age! Yeah there's missteps and the dialogue and some writing isn't up to standard, but I'm having a blast. Did Siege of Weisshaupt this morning and companion/faction quests this afternoon. So enjoying it! Maybe it'll turn out to be my least favourite Dragon Age, I'm totally expecting that, but it's so good to be in there again.
The important thing is you're enjoying it. Unfortunately, it's not my favourite DA game at least at the current stage. It's fun and I like it, but there are too many little things, you know. Separately they don't mean anything, but together they become noticeable. It's like leaving your home while your younger siblings are 5, and then coming back 10 years after only to find them smoking and traumatised 🤣
Despite mixed reviews, I think the game deserves MUCH more credit. The puzzles are smarter than they seem, and exploration is rewarding. The writing may feel simple at times, but it’s accessible, and the lore connections are intriguing. There are some technical issues with controls, but overall, I’m enjoying the combat, even if it’s different from classic Dragon Age. The characters feel real, and the story reflects the world today in many meaningful ways. The Veilguard might be different, but it still feels like home! I absolutely agree with you! I have been a fan of DA ever since the first game and I must say that I’m totally hooked on Veilguard so much. I love the music, the atmosphere, the story and the companions. I enjoy the exploration so much. I can honestly say that I’m enjoying Veilguard at least as much as all the previous games. I do not tend to read or watch a lot of reviews online, yet when I stumbled upon some, I was apalled and genuinely surprised by the negative feedback. No game is perfect, but I feel that a lot of this is not constructive criticism, just people ventilating their negative emotions. I wanted to express how much I love the game in order to combat this, but I’m sure your videos have wider reach and I genuinely hope that it’s not just negativity that reaches the devs and all the people working hard on this and that there are many people appreciating their game.
Thanks! Between you and me, I've never been connected to reviews that much before this channel (it's only 6 months old 🥹). The way people create content is quite different. Negative stuff has more views and always will, unfortunately. It's important to say if one doesn't like something, however I still believe in manners and respect. Hopefully, the devs can have some rest after their work. DAV is not perfect, but many games are not haha. It's impossible to be likable to everyone. Anyway 😅 Hope you are having fun!
Finished it yesterday, was very concerned and nervous before, but given how many hours I've put into Dragon Age and Mass Effect (not Andromeda)... I LOVED it! There was A LOT of fan service, sort of sappy at times, but I thought it was amazing. Very happy with it.
2:20 I don't think I agree with "Many gamers are young". This is a Mature game, rated 17+. The problem with the writing is that it treat you like you have 12-13 and this spread to the game as well. It is okay to have easy puzzles, Genshin Impact also have hundred of those, the problem is when the game start to tell you how to solve it when the solution is there. I'm Brazillian, and I agree that english could be hard to understand sometimes, but why put a puzzle in the game if they where planing to give you all the solutions??? If the game had an option to just disable all help, and let me figure things out, it would be a lot better.
I too think the hatred for this game is undeserved and unfair, there is just too much people bandwagoning on the "must fail" train out of greed for fame without giving due credit to a game that came out polished and fun out of launch in an era when unplayable garbage has become the norm. I am enjoying the game despite the exposition dump at the early hours and I plan to finish it 100%.
@daunted232 Over exaggerated for sure. They can feel what they want. But many just straight up is lying to try to prove a point. I am playing this game, and the madeup things from some creators are crazy.
I understand half of the fandom enjoys Veilguard. I am guessing many females, newbies, and leftists. However, Bioware did nerf boobs or butt sizes of female characters like Isabella, Morrigan, and Miranda, or the design of desire demon, etc over the years. And immedietly insults those who talk about it, with names like incels, bigots, porn-brained, hater, and banned or whatnot. As a straight male, i am not sure how are we supposed to interpret that other than discrimination or politics. Even if i like the game, as a self-respecting man, the message is clear, and some fans like me shouldn't support current Bioware. Moreover, I suspect EA is trying to lay off or weaken Bioware covertly behind the scenes. I hope my comment isn't perceived as hate, but there it is. Better yet, help me understand this even if we end up disagreeing. 🤔
@@marcomongke3116 i don´t get what is the problem with less boobs or less ass? Like many males aren´t looking like super models either and it was never a problem so why is it a problem with the females?
Thanks for the sub and welcome aboard! Usually we are very chatty here and discuss stuff respectfully even if we have different opinions, so don't be shy to join any conversation when you are ready 😉
Anderan atishan Goose, I completely agree with you. Nowadays people seem to be too willing to defer to other “more influential“ individuals judgement rather than come to their own conclusions. I personally can’t put the controller DOWN. The combat is fun, the story is interesting and the companions are engaging. My gripe is that I found some level designs better than others but that’s personal preference. Turning down the difficulty does dampen the experience so I wouldn’t recommend. This being said, those dragons KICKED my rear. 😂
Haha, glad to hear you are enjoying the game! It's different and has issues, of course, but it impressed me that Bioware tried to please as many gamers as they could and it worked on many levels. Have fun and explore with pleasure, vhenan! Dareth shiral ✨
I am in 1st hour of the game and so far I am enjoying it as an artist and I am interested in fantasy as a whole. That is my main reason to play the game. I do not care about the negativity or hate people are aiming. I like the combat as well as mage so far!
As a fan of Dragon Age since the very first game, I’ve eagerly followed the journey, playing every game and DLC, and reading all the comics and books. For me, Dragon Age: The Veilguard was well worth the 10-year wait. This new installment adds so much depth to the story, offering answers to long-standing questions about the lore while also introducing exciting new mysteries. It feels like the perfect continuation of the Dragon Age universe, delivering everything that true fans would want. I know some people are disappointed that the game isn’t the same turn-based strategy style of the original, but the tactical elements are still strong and deeply enjoyable. The gameplay is smooth, and there’s a real sense of choice and consequence. It’s a shame that the negative reviews seem to stem from hate-bombing by certain groups upset about the game’s inclusivity, especially regarding transgender identities. This is just a minor aspect of the game that you don’t even have to engage with if it’s not for you, so it feels unfair to judge the entire game on this point. Overall, I highly recommend Dragon Age: The Veilguard to dedicated fans of the series. It’s a beautifully crafted game that enriches the Dragon Age world and keeps us longing for even more. BioWare are back and better than ever before!
@daunted232 I still play it. I like it a lot. Still have the same problem that every RPG have eventually, even the best of them, the interactions with npc become repetitive as the game Is way longer than the number of interactions and u start to become eager for the next story bit so the game feel alive again. Still this Is something that happened with every RPG/open world game, even BG3 and Cyberpunk. So don't mean that this game Is bad for that. Though would wish it had More companions cutscenes AND interactions (but again this happen with most games). The gameplay itself still addictive to me. When I sit to play it, hours fly
I started a replay of Dragon Age Origins last month, and I plan to replay Awakening, DA2 and Inquisition before starting with Veilguard. But I'm looking forward to play this game.
Im around 50 hours in and feel very much the same! I wish there was a little more experience for talking with companions but thats a minor. The darkness is still there, i dont understand the hate from everyone!!!
@@daunted232 in stills definitely, but when you've got a few of them running at you like that? They scared me more than any previous darkspawn design, I saw those bloody arm things in my dreams 🤣
I haven't recruited Taash and Emmrich yet, taking my time exploring and reading everything. Enjoying the game a lot. It has it's downs, sure, like any other game. I am not a big fan of a new combat system, but meh. I'll live with that. Lore, story and companions are way more important for me than combat.
@@the-dark-side. Ability to really pause any moment. Ability to control companions. Tactical view. More abilities on the active panel altogether. I am just more found of cRPG system. I can play Action style as in ME games or Witcher series well enough, but it is not my favorite.
40 hours in myself and loving it! The faction quests along with the companion stories are so great. The hidden quests that are easily missable yet feel so important to the narrative are done so well that they feel like main quests. The lore, combat, art style, call backs, and well all of it are amazing, when i come off the game after a long session im still thinking about it and cant wait to hop back on For an AAA game to come out and be this polished is nearly unheard in this age of gaming yet its being overlooked from rage bait hate online. Once the next big game for them to move on too to hate hopfully this game gets the praise it should have and not just from DA fans
i'm so glad to hear you say this because i'm going ALL THE WAY IN on everyone who utters a negative word about this game. And not in the good way. I just finished this game. Don't think I got the best ending and I"m not going to be more specific than that. Final Act is REALLY GOOD actually made me cry. ME! Like wailing and screaming Why into the void and all that lol.
If your problem happens every 3 hrs, I would rather think that it comes from your OS that tries to do something. I don't have neither of those problems (I'm playing M+K). My husband once had a similaar problem with Cyberpunk where is screen just would go off. I changed the sleep mode settings to "never" and it didn't happen again. Everything that is plugged in to your PC goes in sleep mode if your OS says so. It is at least worth a try. To your review: What if I tell you that the game will get better the nearer you get to the end? As I said in a comment on another video, I take the game as it is and don't compare it to the other Dragon Age games because it would have needed to be better than Origins. It isn't for me. Origins is still the best Dragon Age title in my book. But bloody hells, it is damn close. When I played it I could see and feel the love and work they put into that game. They pulled my heart strings, made me rage and cry for pixel people. I'm happy that I chose to be a Grey Warden in my first run, it kicks a bit harder when you are. Also I only had 2 bugs in the entire game on launch and that's damn impressive.
Just finished the game. Let me put this staight: Apart from the title this is NOT a Dragon Age game. This is an action adventure game with very little RPG elements made for a broader 'mainstream' audience. I am really dissapointed. The writing is very flat and often meaningless, the choices you make hardly impact the story (do not intend to play the 'bad guy' like in previous DA games because that's just not possible). The combat is fun early in the game but it gets so repetitive that after 10 hours I was getting bored. A lot of cutscenes smash LGBTQ+ subjects straight in your face but in the very wrong way (I say this as a gay man myself), obviously as a part of the Bioware agenda. I play fantasy video games to get lost in another world, not to get lectured about modern time ethical subjects. The story could have been engaging but it 's torn down completely by all the other shortcomings The positive: the game looks gorgeous on PC and runs smoothly right off the box, a rarity in modern gaming. The last 2-3 hours of The Veilguard are phenomenal (compared to the rest of the game) My conclusion: The end of Dragon Age (for Bioware). Score: 5/10
Thanks dor the review. Now I'm a bit hopefull. I've been on the bench for a while, not certain if I want to get the game right now or I should wait a little. I do agree that times have changed so have the characters. My real concern, though, is the quality of writing. I do agree that not everyone is a native speaker, but at the very same time games like "The Witcher", "Cyberpunk" and previous Dragon Age parts had a superb writing in my opinion. They had well-written dialogues that helped to properly reveal a character, gave "juice" to each and every companion (in DA) and, in general, felt more mature. I'm worried that the game has become a bit simpler in this regard. Like, for example, "Dragon Age: Vows and Vengance" had an interesting story and intriguing characters, but the quality of dialogues and development of interaction between the very same characters was mediocre at its best. Which made me sad, to tell the truth. BioWare were well known for their writing. So yes, I do agree with you that the game should appeal to all groups of players - young and not that young anymore :), but at the very same time I still have a feeling that I should forget what the previous games were like to be able to fully enjoy this one.
My pleasure! Considering that I played a bit more (like literally 3 more hours), I recommend you to wait a bit longer....Because the game started confusing me again. I'll agree that Cyberpunk and the Witcher are my top games in terms of everything including writing. Grey Wardens mission was awesome and it's a part of the big, main plot, the other stuff though...especially after that mission... It feels like this game was written by different people. So, if you still have patience, please wait with the purchase. I can't believe I actually say this 👀
I'm at part 10 of 14. And the story is incredible. The combat is also really fun. The lore and history (from the dreadwolf regret quest) was fascinating and devastating. I didnt do all companion side quests (not very interested in Taash or Emeric). But the others were so brilliant that I might still bother. 10/10 I dont want it to end, but... I need to see how it does.
Hope you won't be disappointed! You'll definitely complete your playthrough earlier, so let me know after that if it went well and as you expected! 🤟🏼🔥
As always a fun and engaging video, Goose, though TBH I got the sense watching this that its not so much you have positive criticism, but its that you are willing to engage with the game uncritically. You've said things like: 'You get fun loot - who doesn't like loot' - Every game in this genre has loot, the obvious question is whether its good loot? Does it have interesting mechanics that can synergise together into unique builds? 'The writing is simple, but we are older now so things change,' - I played Origins for the first time at 30 years old and was fully immersed, if Veilguard is noticably simpler or more superficial it seems likely its because its aimed at a young or less invested audience, not that we ourselves have grown out of mature fantasy. I came away unconvinced that these flaws are not substantial, more that you don't regard them as detrimental to your experience. Your conclusion seems to be: 'Yeah its not 'technically' fantastic, but it's wonderful to be back in Thedas!' Its a perfectly fine opinion, I'll probably be of the same mind when I play my campaign over the xmas holiday, but I don't think it invalidates that some reviewers ask more searching questions.
Or I find it unwise to make a final critical review based on 40 hours 😁 A well-balanced review must be done after completing the game There are many valid questions from others. I just don't think that the wild hate is justified
@@ImpGoose I agree the hate is stupid, as I alluded to even if, say, the writing is mediocre as i fear, its still a fun time with Varric and friends. I look forward to seeing your full review :)
Yes it is polished, but the writing and dialogue really takes you out of the imersion, puzzles are simple and honestly was better of without them. As a choice based narrative rpg it is a really bad one, as a generic action game it's a 6-7
Ye on the steam page, it is rated 18 "Violence and Bad Language". Having seen quite a bit of footage at this point, let's plays and the like, where is the age 18 content?! lol
To be honest with you? I used to be an Origins fanboy. Still am, too. Origins is still the DA game to beat. I figured I could either remain in the past and not have new games to play or have fun with what comes out. I don’t regret that decision. Veilguard has just given me the first decision since Origins where I had to pause the game and think about what to do (I’ve recently gotten Davrin, for context. There are issues I do have, sure. But I’m really not seeing where this negativity is justified, either!
My friend, that doesn't really make sense to me. You say you are still an Origins fanboy, because it was the DA game to beat, but you are going to purposely forget about it (as much as one can). In order to have fun with this game? Surely you would not need to do that, if the new game were actually good. It just sounds like mental gymnastics.
@ Valid question! Look at it this way: Origins is a fantastic game. I’ve got a lot of fond memories playing it, and it actually helped me through personal problems I was having at the time. Given the choice, I’d much rather see Dragon Age return to that type of storytelling. I’m actually looking into games like Greedfall and played The Witcher III to get my dark fantasy itch scratched. As for Veilguard? This is the most divisive game I’ve ever seen. Is it the greatest thing since sliced bread? No. But Heaven knows I’ve seen much worse. Putting the negativity aside-fair and unwarranted alike- I don’t think it’s for everyone. That said, I appreciate your respectful disagreement with me, your opinion is just as valid as my own, or anyone else’s. 😁
It has issues, it is different, yet it doesn't carry as many problems as some say. I like it. I'm not sure that I'll do the exploration at the same level of obsession next time, but this game is fun anyway. Indeed being masochistic regarding your past time (when you definitely dislike suffering) is a bit illogical. I'm not surprised to see most of the comments here. Honestly, if I had more time I would chat, but there's not enough resources in me these days. I hope your battery will never run out, my friend 🔥 Have fun discovering new games!
I'm level 35 now. And while the game is enjoyable combat-wise anbd gameplay-wise, its very bad wehn it cones to the writing and dialogues. Especially the dialogues. They are killing me. Its so basic, so generic, so unimpactful. Who wrote this dialogue? A high schooler? Its a fun game. But its a very bad DA game. Because writing and dialogue were alwys the main focus in these games. And the roleplaying of course.
Game is good, in a vacuum, and i would rate it 9/10 if not for three things: - Some specific dialogue writing is comically simple at the beginning. It gets better the further you go, bit it still pops up on occasion. - Combat is fun , but it is based around the flawed mechanic of companions being immortal and Rook drawing almost all of the aggro. Pause wheel is necessary at higher difficulties for a stress free experience, which, personally, as a cRPG fan, have no issues with. - Some of the characters from previous games are not handled with the attention they deserved, in writing, appearance or both. And some of the the newer ones are definitely not on the same level as others, the disparity in character quality is obvious. Despite all that, this is a good game, and for fans of the lore, it's even better. It's a great conclusion to the Solas narrative and the presentation is mostly flawless. 8/10 game, I'm only mentioning the drawbacks because this could have easily been a solid 9+/10 game.
@@Zakrovik Well, throughout the game Elgarn'nan and Ghilan'nain were harvesting mainly Elf blood as a way of making their power stronger And Bellara's arc talks about it a bit But yeah, they could have made at least a group of Elves that supported the Evanuris
@@otaviodelucca3573 Let's put it this way, elves were always treated as second class citizens in Thedas (you just need to look at DAO, DA2, DAI, masked empire, etc.) if the literal deity you worship comes along and demands a blood sacrifice in return for restoring the power of your race and improving your life. Most elves would take it. They don't have a lot to lose.
The game chose to not tackle the more mature themes of the mage freedom issue ( semi understandable because the north, and especially Tevinter, handles this matter differently) and elven oppression and slavery, to an extent. Why do elves not follow their gods? Because, as Bellara says, they aren't the gods of their legends. Power hungry gods who are willing to utilize the Blight to gather power is not exactly what the oral histories described. I'm sure even the gods themselves don't give a crap about elves or non elves, they only care about followers. It makes sense that the people who would flock to power hungry deities, are the power hungry people and factions. I agree that the oppressed city elves would be a prime candidate for ' conversion ', but 1. they offer nothing to the gods, they're class c citizens. 2. mentioning the city elves would mean the game would have to tackle their situation of being oppressed and treated like dirt by another race.
@ They are still Gods to the Dalish. Multiple times from the beginning to the end they are still hailed as Gods by the elves despite what you have stated. If the Gods truly want power they will give a crap about elves or non-elves because, and you probably already know, power emanates from those who have larger following than others. Thus, it stands to reason that if this game was written by competent individuals the Gods, while they will probably still use the blight, would have the elves on their side just by virtue of having the strength of their God and taking on the name of their Gods. People already saw Solas (the dread wolf) returned and accepted it. Why wouldn’t they accept the return of 2 of their Gods? Now, for the tyrants and “bullies” existing tyrants wouldn’t back them, because these new Gods pose a threat to the status quo they have benefitted from. Indeed, if this game was competently written there will be new tyrants who will back these Gods as well as morally good characters who would back them as they see these Gods as a vehicle of change. But all we get is what? “We are the good guys and only evil people side with the enemy”.
Not 40 hours in obviously but so far the writing is not great in terms of everything but Solas' background I really hope it gets better. I feel like my ability to be a dynamic character, like sarcastic, kinda mean, or nice doesn't seem like much at all.
I wish the team who made it had u and other DA real lovers hired to give advice.. me included 😅. It could have given us so much more But I feel u.... nostalgia strikes us and makes us enjoy things we wouldnt otherwise. Thats how DA:vg strikes me. I can get emotional. But because of what it was... unfortunately... Game is ok, Dont get me wrong. It is just.. u know .. I would prefer it to be mature . At least a little more
I've played this game 35h and I can confidently say that - as a BioWare fan since 1998- this is the worst BioWare game I've ever played and one of the worst written games I've played in 27 years. Even if you ignore the fact that this is supposed to be a Dragon Age game, it is a 5 at most. To whoever enjoys the game, congratulations, enjoy it because is the last Dragon Age we're getting.
thank you for the common sense. I am sad you had to put yourself through it. I loved DA. read books and comics, saw the awful Netflix show and have played all games. This is depressing and the cope with the people that claim that this game can be good, even without good writing is beyond me.
@@Druller-y9p Yeah, the Netflix show was BAD too but I took it as line in the water and pretty much an irrelevant spin-off. I never expected DA4 to be this disappointing, even with the low expectations I already had.
The amount of socially engineered hatred toward this game is absurd. Does it have issues? Yes (as do the other games). And many that can't and shouldn't be ignored or downplayed... But this game has also done so much right. I'm in the mid-game and my current rating would be approximately 4/5. Edit: I haven't finished Veilguard yet, but I'm approaching the end-game. My rating now is certainly lower than 4/5; how far below that mark is uncertain. A lot of the issues with the writing have been made apparent at this stage. However, there's still a lot I enjoy about it. We'll see how well it holds up in the end. Last/Second-to-last edit: Finally got around to finishing it. The end-game was better than the latter parts of the mid-game. It wasn't perfect (there were a few writing choices that stood out to me in a negative way), but it was better. Still, it wasn't enough to salvage things. My verdict after my first playthrough is ~3/5. Overall, it was a game that had a number of interesting ideas, many of which ended up stifled by sloppy and amateurish writing. If I do a full-length review, I'll link it here. Although I am critical of Veilguard, I do believe that certain popular criticisms miss the point, and that aspects of the discourse around this game are hate-train/hype based.
@@daunted232 A lot of people were prompted by content creators on here to go into the game with the mindset that it was bad, and filter everything they see through a hypercritical (oftentimes to the point of absurdity) meta-narrative lens. That isn't to say that all criticisms of this game are invalid, or that no one would've disliked/hated the game for their own reasons, but this is undeniably a significant factor in the game's reception.
@@j.s182 "with the mindset that it was bad" Personally, I see no issue in people reporting that a game is bad, as long as they back up their statements with explanations. Hypercritical is totally valid, considering the rubbish that was past games, like Anthem and Mass Effect: Andromeda. Mass effect 3 was also not amazing, especially the ending/s. Sure people reporting the game as bad, will play a huge role in the game's reputation, but I don't know why that is a bad thing.
@@daunted232 I agree with you that there's plenty of reason both to be skeptical of new releases and to voice negative opinions if you have them. I'm talking about people essentially deferring their own judgement and going into the game with their minds already made up. And because of whatever meta-narrative they ***might*** buy into -- MoDeRn GaMiNg -- being peddled by certain content creators, they look specifically to put a negative spin on things they might've been neutral on otherwise.
@@j.s182 There was so much footage of the game on dragon age official channels, from up to 2 months ago. It's not as if we knew nothing about the game before release. It looked like a bait and switch, with the title of Dragon Age, but it looked weird.
As a fan that has bought books/comics, played all the games and even watched the awful Netflix show, I have a right to a personal opinion and valid reasons for hating for this abomination of a "sequel". This game is not at all a return to form, which some journalists claim. It is so clearly a soft-reboot. If a sequel is not as good or better than what it wants to built on, it is to some degree not good at doing it's job and thus a failure. This is by far the worst game in the series in terms of writing. As a sequel this DA game fails and it deserves all the negativity coming it's way. Writing is THE most important part of Dragon Age and when that is poor, no other aspect of the game can make up for it.
Everyone is going on about Taash being trans and all, but my own issue is with Taash's mother... Shathann. I thought young Qunari didn't live or grow up with their families, but were raised by the Tamassrans; where they are trained to serve a particular role under the Qun. At least that's what the Iron Bull said in Inquisition. Even Sten in Origins and the Arishock in DA2 exposed some fascinating lore about the Qunari and the way their society works, all of which seemed to have been retconned to include this more "normal" family lifestyle. I don't know, I love Dragon Age but I get the feeling that this Qunari mother figure doesn't tie in with the existing lore, but bioware sacrificed the lore to include her... probably to make Taash's "coming out" story more emotionally impactful. and it kinda ruins my fascination with the Qunari and their Lore. I'm about to start my first playthrough. I'm hoping the game provides a valid lore-friendly explanation for this.
You need to remember that this game was not written nor designed by people who played the original games or bothered to do any level of research into the lore. Of course, things were retconned because they were never a part of the product, to begin with. If you love the lore of Dragon Age, finish this abomination and disregard anything lore-related that it tries to establish. Who knows if what you said is accurate, all I can say is that Taash's "Coming Out" is something that should have never been written in the first place. This is supposed to be a dark fantasy, stop the cataclysm, thwart the evildoers, and save the realm, there's no room for identity politics, this is fantasy, not reality. No one gives a rat's about your identity, as long as it's not shoved down our throats. But In all honesty, I wouldn't be surprised if that whole scene was a self-insert by one of the writers, as their way of Making their mark on the game. If you like the game, cool, just don't let it ruin the lore for you. I, however, won't be touching this slop as I've seen enough of the dialog and gameplay to know that I will not enjoy this. I was a fan of Dragon Age back in the day, it was unique, and a great example of a dark fantasy, but this is not Dragon Age. It's nothing more than yet another co-opted franchise hijacked to push an agenda. Bioware might make it long enough to release Mass Effect, but as far as I'm concerned, it's time for them to join the likes of Volition and Firewalk. Peace.
I’m also 40 hrs into the game and I’m having the best time!! Just got to the part that was in the PS Showcase trailer - going to do it tomorrow but I am absolutely adoring it. The companions, the choices are great esp the huge one mid way in the act 1 you know. Really heavily puts the theme of regret - for my choice anyway. Curious tho how does the mage gameplay feel like? My Rook is a rogue with a building duellist spec which is super fun.
the game deserves criticial comments because it's so far removed from the previous Dragon Age games, in a really REALLY BAD way. I finsihed the game a few days ago, finished every single quest except one and I personally don't like it, they not only screwed up the writing and the lore, they decided to canonise a few previous decisions. Ah and the Varric thing.. yeah they did a good job punching us Varric fans in the face. The final hours are very good and finally feels like a Dragon Age. All characters are interesting except for one, I want to scarifice her the second I recruit her, the only thing I can think of is Taash indenity and the relationship she had with her mother. Which brings me to the next thing I hate, pronouns and top surgery scars in a MEDIEVAL FANTASY GAME. The top surgery scars and the pronouns make sense in a Mass Effect game , They butechered the lore and put someting in Thedas what doesn't belong there. They did such a great job with Krem in Inquisition, so much so I wanted to romance him, becuase guess why he isnt trying to shove anything in your face. His personality does nor revolve around being trans. Which brings me to the writing, it sucks in my opinion, some parts of the game the writing is good and most the time it is terrible.
This game is awesome. I'm like on end game quests, so worth the ten year wait, the stories and the emotions, like i cant wait for next playthrough. What bothers me is everytime theres a big title that people are anticipating these so called influencers come out in packs making up stuff, attacking the devs and other cc. Whats sad is people believe this and watch their vieeos. I've seen videos basically with the heading of closing bioware. This is so sad, hugs to all who worked on veilguard, and bioware thks game make me so happy.
Yea the people going on and on about Taash (which like most everything else about this game needs a lot of work) don't deserve the kind of writing they claim to want 😂 easily as blind as rhe soulless suits running bioware into the ground, but at least they have the excuse that they are paid to be dumb
Agree to disagree. People can only review it as they are; I will not think more favourably about this game because I am an adult and not a child. Going back to Origins, it's still great not because of what I am but because of what it was.
This is a beautiful early review. Dragon Age/Bioware for me are moments built upon characters and choices. I'm so excited to get to know and grow with the Veilguard. I will look forward to your playthrough as I go through games rather slowly. Thank you for sharing and making me tear up. 🥹💝
Modern day writing 8:39 "rarrrrr hissss Rarrrrr hisss raraarrrr hisss rrrrrrrrrrarrrr HISSSSSSSSSSSSSSS Who wants a treat now?" I've seen better writing from LLM tbh.
Tip about controller issue, turn off triple buffering in settings, it turned on by default and messing a lot of stuff on PC. I actually experienced regular crushes every two to three hours because of the damned thing. Although, I welcomed this bug for a while because it reminded me to make occasional breaks 😂Folding down game window (alt+tab) and unfolding it back also helps it find connection to the Fade... I mean, controller.
The videos I have watched about this game are about people liking the game. These are highly emotionally driven reactions. From women specifically. I find this interesting.
I find it interesting that men are afraid to show that they are positive about the game after Mortismal. There are as many truths in this situation as people and their POVs. My husband loves this game more than I do. He has been that way since the marketing campaign. Moreover, he finds it funny that adult men can't choose to ignore things that were not made specifically for them. He doesn't care about Taash's character arc, he completed the quest and moved on. He doesn't objectify any fictional or real human body. He doesn't care about lore. The game is simply brilliant in his opinion, especially in terms of the technical execution. Games are made for fun 😂 Playing it IS fun. So, why can't other men choose what they like and skip what doesn't help them have fun?
@@ImpGoose I don't understand being able to play a role playing game, with cutscenes and lots and lots of talking, while not caring about lore. It would be like playing halo, while not being interested in shooting aliens. While your husband's experiences are of course valid. The fact that he married you, shows what sort of thing he likes (assuming you like the same things). As such, I cannot think of your husband as typical of the adult male gamer. "he finds it funny that adult men can't choose to ignore things that were not made specifically for them" Is there evidence for this? "Playing it IS fun." Also, I have no evidence of this xD, but that is the bit I care about the least. I care about people's reasoning, and so far in from this comment section. The people who have replied to my questions the most, are people who don't like the game. Many people, who I asked why they liked the game, have not replied with reason. As someone who believes in a personal god irl, I understand not always having logical reasons for things, but The Veilguard has even less evidence going for it. Wishing you all the best.
People didn't reply because they don't want to talk to someone they don't know. It's not about inability to have a convo, it's about their boundaries and decisions to enjoy what they like without explaining why. They don't have to, and most of your questions were pretty straightforward. Not rude, of course, but not polite either. Technically, you and I enjoy having a reasonable debate with people who have an opposite opinion. They don't. And there's nothing wrong with that. It doesn't prove anything besides their choice to connect with me and my channel only. Your further conclusions about my husband though are assumptions that don't really represent what I meant. I was saying that there are many men who enjoy this game and they have their reasons. Without going too deep into personal stories... We have seen too much hate, blood, and violence in real life and experienced it first hand because of the place where we grew up. Fighting online doesn't give us anything beneficial, we just do what we like. I'm just a chatty one haha. But yeah, I'll not spend my time talking to someone who has decided what kind of person I am without knowing me and details of my life (I'm not talking about you. There are people who called me names, etc.).
@@ImpGoose "People didn't reply because they don't want to talk to someone they don't know. " That only seems to stop people who like the game. My thinking is that, if you cannot explain an idea simply, then it's because you haven't really thought about it enough. Which is fine, I ask so many people, in the hopes I find the few % of people that can explain. I am being as polite as I know how, which is pretty nice compared to a lot of people on this topic, as you mention. You don't need to prove anything to be able to gather data. The data points towards fans of the game not being able to express why they like the game. I would think that people who are passionate about the game, would show the sort of passion you have in explaining themselves. As you see from some of the comments that didn't reply, they have made some sort of statement, claiming reviewers lied, in order to make the game look bad. I ask for some examples, in the politest way I can. Someone says something, I ask for further details, they get mad at me, neither of us learn anything. It's disappointing.
Of course simplicity brings clarification, I can relate to that. However many of my subs are not native speakers, others (as I said before) might not want to talk to strangers. There could be many more reasons why they didn't answer. Because DAV's case is complicated, I'd say that it's not in my top 3 favourite games anymore. As you said, simple stuff is needed and it's not simple anymore. It doesn't mean it's not fun, though. As I said in the review, the combat is really nice and entertaining, the locations are beautiful, etc. Many agree with that and that's their reason to like the game. Maybe it's not for you, or you find writing more important than anything else (idk just a random example), so our reasons don't work for you. It's sad of course because I'd like you to enjoy the new game. But I can't make you haha, and I don't want to make anyone follow my views blindly. However, if we don't agree on something, we shouldn't spoil other people's enjoyment and happiness. It cruel. There's a phrase I like: Honestly without kindness is cruelty. Kindness without honesty is manipulation. I try to avoid manipulation in my review, so I speak about my emotions or quality of work trying to be mindful about people's tastes. I might not be always clear in verbalizing my thinking process and usually it causes a rapid reaction from the community, but hey, I'm learning and doing my best. People who made the game also did their best. I respect that even if I dislike some of their choices 🔥🤟🏻
I'm lagging behind in my game 'cause I went back to the character creator mini-game & started churning out improbable stereotypes, (Irony alert!) & after multiple new save files, finally settled on a cute mage girl who's in a freckle competition with Harding. I also experienced the anomaly of having the magic mushrooms attack my controller 3 hours in as you did. This started me down the endlessly entertaining path of troubleshooting, software tweaks, psychosomatic medicine & re-hab techniques. Try shutting down Steam completely after you launch the game. That's what worked for me.(after many "Wtf did I do now?" moments.) As for Taash, I haven't recruited her yet, but I've seen all the scenes. (How could I not? They're so omnipresent you'd think Taash was running for president.) My issues are 2 fold. 1 : It's massively lore breaking. Qunari children are not raised in a familial setting. They are raised in a communal environment presided over by a cadre' of revered matriarchs who educate, discipine, & evaluate their strenghts & weaknesses. They even choose a Qunaris' career path. You can't have "mommy issues" without a mommy. As I said, I haven't recruited Taash yet, so if this is plausibly explained I'll happily eat crow, (Antivan or otherwise 😅) but for now, it stings a little. 2 : It's massively immersion breaking. I WANT to see these issues explored. I'm not so inhumane that I can't empathize with the frustrating isolation & lonliness that people different from me go thru'. But grafting 21st century situations & terminology onto a medieval fantasy world is like grafting a pumpkin vine onto a palm tree. It's garishly jarring, & if I'm being truthful, indicates a level of lazy writers' syndrome that makes me a bit uncomfortable. The lore & world of Thedas is worth accomodating, & i wish the writers had done that. Before the game released, I actually wrote a questline where Taash completely transitions, fem to m, with the help of 2 companions & a returning character from Inquisition. (Depending on the choices you made in Inquisition & Origin.) I know you're busy, so I won't include it here. But I'm retired now, & the shackles of making a living no longer fetter me. So should you ever be curious... I am at your disposal. 😊
Many people especially guys were loving this franchise and others long before women became interested in this kind of stuff. Stay away please you destroy everything in your path.
My friend, of course the people who stayed that long will more likely give a positive review than those who stayed less than the refund window of 2 hours. I don't think it makes their review automatically better, because you increased the odds of finding positive reviews. Survivor bias.
I decided to give the game a try because of all the hate it was getting, and I actually ended up enjoying it. There were a few moments that pulled me out of it, but I think that’s just me being old and the game feels like it’s targeted at a younger audience. The combat is great, kind of reminds me of Hogwarts Legacy somehow, but with some extra stuff. Exploration is fun and rewarding, and the story is good imo. Honestly, if this game had come out as its own and not as a Dragon Age sequel I don’t think it would gotten half the hate it’s getting.
The game is rated 18 on steam "Violence and Bad Language". Don't let people gaslight you into thinking, "you must be the problem because you are not the target audience".
You are giving ammunition to the people you disagree with. You are making yourself look bad with the way you recklessly lash out. People at least come up with somewhat a proper argument against the game being good. (I don't like the game either but you are shooting yourself in the foot)
Dragon Age: TransScars The Bigotry Test. Context: If trans scars bother you, you are a bigot. If you can just move past the option and let live, you are a good person.
All in all, I do like the game, with one exception. I got through the character creator, which I think is overly elaborate. The characters do give their personality in their dialogue options. The graphics are good, no stuttering, and no crashes so far. However I do despise the combat. My PC usually dies in two or three hits if I try to fight and if I try to use the combos with my companions, my PC is ganged up on and dies even quicker. I'm starting to feel, as Varric would put it, "I'm getting too old for this shit!" However, I will persevere and perhaps my fingers will learn. I do get through the combats after a number of reloads.
oh, so, you think critizising a games company for creating an ideologically motivated piece of woke propaganda, that tells you to do 10 pushups for correctly identifying someones gender (ie: "misgendering") and lectures you about "non-binary" qunari, is "undeserved"? Thats a pretty wild take, my guy, and thats ignoring the numerous other issues, such as poorly designed UI, terrible dialog, repetetive combat, TERRIBLE art direction and lazy ass character and enemy design etc ad nausiam.
Okey so, first of all, just cuz the game handles the non binary bit terribly, does not make the entire game "woke propaganda", and the game isn't telling YOU to do push-ups, (not that I think you could even if you tried.) yes, that was bad writing, but it's not PROPAGANDA, It's a vain attempt at pandering, completely different things. Second of all, the game has been stuck in development hell for the past ten years, it's gone thru multiple teams, new writers and new directors on several occasions, along with alot of other crap going on at bioware itself, so ofc it's going to be a bit messy in parts, most of the "woke bs" was most likely added last when the new game director was hired who is trans, hence why it feels so rushed and undeveloped. However the majority of the game is still more then fine. UI and design choices is completely up to personal taste, so that's irrelevant, and combat in almost every single game gets repetitive after a while, this is also true for every single da game, especially origins that plays like a bad wow clone. Bad dialogue is one that nobody actually argues, however this was also true for DAI, aswell as alot of lazy choices being made, yet that game won game of the year. All of you that spend so much time on hating the game so hard and put so much effort into criticising the game and those that do enjoy it always fall back on the "it's a woka propaganda game" as your main argument cuz thats the only argument you really have, despite it being completely untrue. Identity politics really do be living in your head rent free, and you're clearly thinking about it waaay too much. Irony is that it seems that it's in fact YOU that has been brainwashed by social media to see this as such a major problem no matter what, while in reality it's barely even 5% of the actual game. 🤷♂️
@@themisfitjester7034 Oof, XD, 1. “Okey so, first of all, just cuz the game handles the non binary bit terribly, does not make the entire game "woke propaganda" Let me quote Anita Sarkeesian: “EVERYTHING is sexist, EVERYTHING is racist, and we have to call it all out”. The authoritarian collectivist, postmodern-cultural Marxists, otherwise known as “the woke” postulate that EVERYTHING is political. Propaganda is defined as a cultural expression (such as a game, book, etc) for the explicit purpose on the part of the creator of compelling socio-political or cultural change by using said cultural expression as a vehicle for a socio-political or cultural message. The game director describes himself as a “Queerosexual Gendermancer”, making this game a vehicle for his political message, and thusly, propaganda. 2. “ and the game isn't telling YOU to do push-ups, (not that I think you could even if you tried.)” Ah, nice. Insults. Very classy. But, of course, you are wrong. Once we understand that this game is propaganda, once we understand that the writers want to compel behavior in us, the players, we understand, that the writers are actually talking to us directly. 3. “yes, that was bad writing, but it's not PROPAGANDA, It's a vain attempt at pandering, completely different things.” In your haste to claim that the game is not propaganda, you failed to remember to demonstrate how it isn’t. I have provided a definition at the top of my comment, so why don’t you try and debunk my claim now? 4. “UI and design choices is completely up to personal taste, so that's irrelevant” That actually couldn’t be more incorrect. As a UI and graphic design professional myself, I can tell you, that good design is IN NO WAY up to personal taste. If you are interested, you might want to pick a book about UI/UX design, such as “UI/UX design fundamentals” or even watch a couple of youtube tutorials on the topic. It’s a very deep field and pertains mostly to communication design and psychology. To try and dismiss it as “irrelevant” merely shows your lack of education on the topic and I strongly recommend learning, before talking. 5. “and combat in almost every single game gets repetitive after a while, this is also true for every single da game, especially origins that plays like a bad wow clone.” Ok, so, you agree that the combat gets repetitive? That’s good. From my perspective of an active game dev, I was going to write a long comment about how the limitations to the action bar, the absence of player control or choice over your companions, or the absence of meaningful intra class build variety make the combat shallow and repetitive, but you already agree. Nice. 6. “All of you that spend so much time on hating the game so hard and put so much effort into criticising the game and those that do enjoy it always fall back on the "it's a woka propaganda game" as your main argument cuz thats the only argument you really have, despite it being completely untrue.” Im not going to hold the size of this self own against you. You are clearly emotionally invested in the game, and if you find It within you to enjoy it then, as the good doctor says: “hey, fair enough”. Im not actually interested in taking your enjoyment away. To try and dismiss the valid criticism of people, especially if they come from a professional or knowledgeable place, however, is intellectually dishonest, especially if you pepper your angry comment with needles insults. 7. “, Bad dialogue is one that nobody actually argues, however this was also true for DAI, aswell as alot of lazy choices being made, yet that game won game of the year.” Yes, I do agree that the VGA are a corrupt enterprise. 8. “ Irony is that it seems that it's in fact YOU that has been brainwashed by social media” No. I have actually spend the last 10 years studying this cancerous philosophy. Social media has nothing to do with it. This believe system is very old. It begins with the synthesis of Marxs ideas with French liberalism (That’s Jaques Derrida, Rousseau, etc). It has informed both national socialistic and fascist thinking and right now we are in what the Italian socialist Gramsci refers to as a war of positioning. Again, I don’t hold your lack of education on any of this against you, but I DO take umbrage with your willingness to dismiss valid criticisms without even engaging with the core of the argument. So, in conclusion, you are free to enjoy whatever game you like, but you WILL accept that there are people who don’t AND that they will criticize the game. If you disagree it would behoove you to maybe read up on the referenced material a bit, before hastening to dismiss it, lest you make a fool out of yourself, my friend.
@@themisfitjester7034 Thank you for this perfect response. The misdirected hate toward Veilguard for being a 'propaganda piece' is so sickening. Sure, there are things that prevent Veilguard from being great, but it's a perfectly enjoyable, well polished action RPG that adds a ton of interesting lore and world building to the Dragon Age series.
@@indiana_holmes Hahah, thanks, but I'm just getting tired of all the drama at this point, from both sides of the fence, it's infected the gaming industry and gaming communitys, i miss the days when it was all about the game, and not all this other bs. Nobody is allowed to enjoy anything anymore, so much negativity and hate from every direction that it feels suffocating to try and enjoy even the smallest things.. Wanna go back to when I was a kid sometimes, a time without the internet so I can enjoy games again, no gamers screeching over every little thing and the companies only goals was to make a fun game. We need a reload function for this shit. 😂
Characters are bland and for the lack of word, very safe, most of them are, and then there is Taash. They literally just put real life politics into the game without even trying to go through any nuance of trying to show otherwise. I will give you an example, if they changed the Chantry to Church of Christ and showed them condemning homosexuals in game, would you feel comfortable? That is the same with Taash here. Then comes the juvenile gameplay, combat is mediocre, mobile games come with better combat these days, puzzles are disgraceful and again, mobile games have better puzzle these days. This game has been in solid development for 6 years at least, cost nearly 200 million $ and this is the best they can do? Lore dump is good, not the best, not like previous games but it is good, I am happy with it. Some places could be a lot better, for example, in Solas' memory when we see him imprisoning the Evanuris, only Elganon and Ghilnein are heard to be screaming at him. What about the others? And why is Ghilnein speaking ahead of the others especially her mistress Andruil? There are places where lore doesn't stick and then the fact they fucked up continuity of previous games. Overall, someone has to be extremely naive or extremely dumb to give this game more than 4 out of 10 score or a good review or even say that it is a good Dragon Age game.
I would say that I agree with most of what you said, except that last bit :P I don't think most people are dumb who like it, I just think the way they choose to view the game, separately from every other alternative, is "not the most logical/objective". aka cope
@@daunted232 I understand what you are saying, but my argument to it is that players have been dumbed down! The dumbing down has been done deliberately for the last 8-10 years, it has been done bit by bit, to dumb down the overall intelligence of gamers through blatantly dumb gameplay. The reason I am saying people have to be dumb is because they have been dumbed down. They have been brainwashed into get addicted to a certain type of gameplay and when they get just that, they start defending it with religious zeal. They know nothing better.
@@toraryoung I somewhat agree, but to what degree it is deliberate I have no real evidence. I'm sure there have always been dumb people, but because of the internet we now hear them much more often.
@@TheHeadhunterv2 Those would be indications that it's not to everyone's taste, but sales/player numbers don't always mean something is poorly made. Just imagine someone who didn't know whether to buy a game, would they see your first comment, and think "oh I shall not indeed buy this game, because one person said they didn't like it". Odds are they would disregard your comment, because it was lacking detail.
@ yeah then imagine when they play the game and refund b4 the 2 hrs… or get scolded about pronouns… or see old developed characters be butchered by “modern” trash writers… game is trash.. it is WELL known…. Stop simping for ign
@@TheHeadhunterv2 A lot of people are rightly worried about "fake news". You can't expect people just to believe something because people are being very loud about it.

I'm sure the devs look at the sales numbers, after all, that is what it comes down to. No planned DLC doesn't strike me as overly successful.
It's not unfair, in my eyes, for people to feel the things they feel as if they can control it.
@daunted232
Over exaggerated for sure. They can feel what they want. But many just straight up is lying to try to prove a point. I am playing this game, and the madeup things from some creators are crazy.
@@Denzao-D I would not have any evidence if people overexaggerated their feelings or not, how would I be able to tell? If I can go by what they say?
Thank you for the honest review. I feel the same. New sub, keep going
Thanks for the sub and welcome aboard! Usually we are very chatty here and discuss stuff respectfully even if we have different opinions, so don't be shy to join any conversation when you are ready 😉
Anderan atishan Goose,
I completely agree with you.
I think games should bring back demos, or a free trial of some sort, then it would be easier for people to judge for themselves.
Agreed, nowadays we should ignore bandwagon tastes and ask ourselves what do we enjoy?
Haha, glad to hear you are enjoying the game! It's different and has issues, of course, but it impressed me that Bioware tried to please as many gamers as they could and it worked on many levels. Have fun and explore with pleasure, vhenan!
Dareth shiral ✨
Looove the linear gameplay. I don't miss the openworld at all.
I would say the more linear style really helps focus the experience.
same here
it's linear in the beginning. It's not dark souls. It's dragon age.
@the-dark-side. dark souls has exploration, no?
Even the roleplaying is linear! You get three dialogue options, and they're all just different ways of saying the same polite, reaffirming thing!
I am in 1st hour of the game and so far I am enjoying it as an artist and I am interested in fantasy as a whole. That is my main reason to play the game. I do not care about the negativity or hate people are aiming. I like the combat as well as mage so far!
There are so many places to stare at 😂 Art is insane well done in this game
If all it took to make the experience were continuing the story, it could have been a book.
Seems not all fans know what good writing is. Shame...
I can't fathom having this opinion. This is one of the worst written games I've ever seen.
@@wholetyouinhere The writing is actually painful dood.
Agree. Playing this game currently, and I like it a Lot.
Was just curious if you are still playing :D and would like to share your thoughts
The ending is so epic and rewarding, I can’t wait to hear how you feel about it. I couldn’t put my controller down I was so gripped by the drama!
Oh, how awesome is that! Hopefully I'll have time this weekend to play for many hours 🥹 I really want to know what happens next!
Im around 50 hours in and feel very much the same! I wish there was a little more experience for talking with companions but thats a minor. The darkness is still there, i dont understand the hate from everyone!!!
The darkspawn do look kinda goofy imo.
What specifically did you like in the old system that isn't better in this one?
@@the-dark-side. Ability to really pause any moment. Ability to control companions. Tactical view. More abilities on the active panel altogether. I am just more found of cRPG system. I can play Action style as in ME games or Witcher series well enough, but it is not my favorite.
If we follow the bandwagon then we will never truly be individuals. I loved what this game offered and that's enough for me.
I mean, every bandwagon has a counter bandwagon, but let's not jump on that either. I'm glad the game was good for you.
I totally agree with you, i love this game
40 hours in myself and loving it! The faction quests along with the companion stories are so great. The hidden quests that are easily missable yet feel so important to the narrative are done so well that they feel like main quests.
The lore, combat, art style, call backs, and well all of it are amazing, when i come off the game after a long session im still thinking about it and cant wait to hop back on
For an AAA game to come out and be this polished is nearly unheard in this age of gaming yet its being overlooked from rage bait hate online.
Oh, wow! If you had that kind of response to the final act, then I'm in trouble 😭😭😭
@@ImpGoose I never knew there was that much water in my head. But it explains A LOT! =))
Oh, thanks! We will check!
Argh I have to be patient with the limited amount of time 😭
im 40 hours in and i just got the quest to go find a fade expert and dragon hunter quest. i think... or 90% sure i am strill in act1
59 Hours and just finished the assault in Weisshaupt. Brilliant! Beautiful! First act final. And now is when I'm having things to do!!!
This used to be a dark fantasy
Ooooo my controller did that yesterday! I thought my poor xbox had just crashed a bit as i was on it for hours 😂😂
The story could have been engaging but it 's torn down completely by all the other shortcomings
The positive: the game looks gorgeous on PC and runs smoothly right off the box, a rarity in modern gaming. The last 2-3 hours of The Veilguard are phenomenal (compared to the rest of the game)
My conclusion: The end of Dragon Age (for Bioware).
10/10
I dont want it to end, but...
You've said things like:
'You get fun loot - who doesn't like loot' - Every game in this genre has loot, the obvious question is whether its good loot?
Or I find it unwise to make a final critical review based on 40 hours 😁 A well-balanced review must be done after completing the game
There are many valid questions from others.
As a choice based narrative rpg it is a really bad one, as a generic action game it's a 6-7
BTW, isn't dragon age a M rated game? Why is it PG 13 writing then?
@@davidradach9311 Yeah, I think it's important to see where people are coming from :D
@ I respect that attitude! Nobody does anything “just because“, after all.
Thanks, i loved this video!
Game is good, in a vacuum, and i would rate it 9/10 if not for three things:
- Some specific dialogue writing is comically simple at the beginning.
Riddle me this, why do the dalish not back their “Gods”? Why do the city elves not back their “Gods”? But, the tyrants and bullies do?
@@Zakrovik
Well, throughout the game Elgarn'nan and Ghilan'nain were harvesting mainly Elf blood as a way of making their power stronger
And Bellara's arc talks about it a bit
But yeah, they could have made at least a group of Elves that supported the Evanuris
Great video. Thank you. Subscribed

@@Kross415 me as well friend. It is truly depressing to see your favorite fictional setting get this treatment after being invested in it for so long.
What do you mean by "socially engineered hatred"?
42 hours, level 29, maybe like 1/4 into the game. I am loving it, meets and exceeds much what I had hoped for.
May I ask, what were you hoping for? :D
Yeah I have seen many people upset about the changes to the Qunari, even from dragon age inquisition.
Peace.
Shathann brings the Tamassrans up in conversation, so this does get covered
Hello, I would like some examples if you please, of "influencers making up stuff". What was said that was false?

Oh, wow. Thanks, we will try it! 🥳
I like Taash, but the gender questioning was cringe.
It cruel.
There's a phrase I like:
Honestly without kindness is cruelty.
Get to the ending and post credit scene and you'll see why it deserves the hate.
I have to go look it up, if that is truly the outrageous bit of the whole thing xD
Okayy you are now 40 hours in😂😂
I'm still in my 25 hours and just finished recruiting Emmrich. I really want to take it slow
That's what worked for me.(after many "Wtf did I do now?" moments.)
As for Taash, I haven't recruited her yet, but I've seen all the scenes.
*2/10 Not Enough Dragons* 😐
similar to Mass Effect 2 loyalty missions. If the companion missions are not complete someone in the party will die.
Thanks for spoiling this to me 😭
@@ImpGoose sorry
Booooo spoilers booo
Many people especially guys were loving this franchise and others long before women became interested in this kind of stuff. Stay away please you destroy everything in your path.
Hide Steam reviewers who played the game for less than 5 hours and the rating immediately jumps to Very good. This is a good game.
Dragon Age: TransScars- The re-education program.
@@Ammy-q4w You also are not doing your side a great deal of justice. You are doing the same emotionally charged name-calling as the first comment.
@@themisfitjester7034
Oof, XD,
1. “Okey so, first of all, just cuz the game handles the non binary bit terribly, does not make the entire game "woke propaganda"
Let me quote Anita Sarkeesian: “EVERYTHING is sexist, EVERYTHING is racist, and we have to call it all out”.
2. “ and the game isn't telling YOU to do push-ups, (not that I think you could even if you tried.)”
Ah, nice. Insults. Very classy. But, of course, you are wrong. Once we understand that this game is propaganda, once we understand that the writers want to compel behavior in us, the players, we understand, that the writers are actually talking to us directly.
3. “yes, that was bad writing, but it's not PROPAGANDA, It's a vain attempt at pandering, completely different things.”
In your haste to claim that the game is not propaganda, you failed to remember to demonstrate how it isn’t. I have provided a definition at the top of my comment, so why don’t you try and debunk my claim now?
4. “UI and design choices is completely up to personal taste, so that's irrelevant”
That actually couldn’t be more incorrect.
5. “and combat in almost every single game gets repetitive after a while, this is also true for every single da game, especially origins that plays like a bad wow clone.”
Ok, so, you agree that the combat gets repetitive? That’s good. From my perspective of an active game dev, I was going to write a long comment about how the limitations to the action bar, the absence of player control or choice over your companions, or the absence of meaningful intra class build variety make the combat shallow and repetitive, but you already agree. Nice.
6. “All of you that spend so much time on hating the game so hard and put so much effort into criticising the game and those that do enjoy it always fall back on the "it's a woka propaganda game" as your main argument cuz thats the only argument you really have, despite it being completely untrue.”
Im not going to hold the size of this self own against you.
7. “, Bad dialogue is one that nobody actually argues, however this was also true for DAI, aswell as alot of lazy choices being made, yet that game won game of the year.”
Yes, I do agree that the VGA are a corrupt enterprise.
8. “ Irony is that it seems that it's in fact YOU that has been brainwashed by social media”
No.
@themisfitjester7034 lol, totally!
