even after growin up in pgh and seein don cab in the early 90s, lava land is still the penultimate instrumental album, thanks piglet/dudes/human people
these guys have been my favorite band for about 10 years. never got to see them live . but recently found out a friend of mine went to college in Illinois and recognizes this video. he thinks he was at this show. any way love these guys ! long live PIGLET ! we fucking love y'all out in Texas !
really amazing, inxpiring stuff. i'm 32.. was really into twelve hour turn, managra, engine down, braid, 400 years, cap'n jazz, sleepytime trio, inkwell ('95), hero100, tintoretto (i actually moved to milwaukee for a while, played for a short time w/ a couple guys from Insidious).. anyway, it's great to see young kids - no offense intended - playing stuff like this rather than three chord pop punk or thrash metal. you don't see much math-y stuff anymore. keep it up.
drummersetsfire Think the drummer is still drumming for local chicago bands. One guy lives in oregon and doing some crazy hippie music/numerology/religion stuff called Tone Color Alchemy. Thats all I know.
Hey this Matt P the drummer... the guitarist, Asher, and I actually played in a band called Fuiguirnet with Billy from Manages, Hero 100, and Josh from Murder in the Red Barn. There's some Fuiguirnet videos on youtube.
drummersetsfire i know this comment is really old but if you are into that milwaukee scene, the guitarist and drummer from this band were also in a band with guys from managra, murder in the red barn, hero 100, etc... they have videos on youtube they were called 'fuiguirnet' check them out
this is genuinly one of the best videos ever ive put this on my spodify as a local file and it has been the best thing ever i cant stress how amazing beautiful everything is about this video
Grandissimi! Perchè non venite a fare un tour in Italia? Vi troviamo un posto dove dormire e si sa, in Italia dove c'è un tetto che ti riapara c'è sempre qualcosa da mangiare. Vi aspettiamo a braccia aperte. Un saluto dal Mugello.
DUDE YOU FINALLY UPLOADED THE REST OF THIS SHOW!!! MY FUCKING GOD...LITTLE BUBBLE LIVE FOR THE FIRST TIME IN MY LIFE!!!!!!!! FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK SHIT DIPPED DEEP FRIED BALLS
hey Asher, if you're reading this, are you doing any other projects currently? Also what scales/chord progressions did you focus on when writing Lava Land/all piglets music for that matter? thanks!
[.ywc.] yungworldconqueror i would be surprised if asher reads these comments on piglet videos. Now, i cant speak for Asher but i can tell you that inspiration came from almost every corner of the music universe... at the time we would listen to anything from Wico to Franz Liszt to Deerhoof to Bad Plus, we listened to a lot of different stuff. We are all general fans of music... not really limiting ourselves to particular genres. I played drums in Piglet so i couldnt really say, what specifically inspired what but I, at least, would emulate our favorite artists and just put a creative spin on my drum parts. We also would go to a lot of shows....and try to support a few local bands we liked.
And i emulate this song and bugstomp on Guitar, playin with the 5th string 2 frets down. Just take a look on his hands and try. Also, if you can, try drums and guitar bass. It feels like playing with stars....
Asher pls I must know: Do you see Piglet ever reuniting and making sweet, sexy music again? What happened to stop you guys in the first place, if that isn't too personal? I love your music so much. I listen to it when I'm overwhelmed by depression because I know it'll get me out of my hole and thinking about writing music better than anything else. You guys are fucking awesome! :D
Lava Land is going to live forever as the coolest EP to emerge from 3-piece math bands.
0:45 his shadow is playing the saxophone
wow, thats a real thing man
+Carl Brutananadilewski jazz for your soul
This is amazing!!!! I need to know more. Where you guys from and where can I find more music?
😂
I cry nightly because I was not there.
It's crazy to think these guys are most likely nearing their 40's
And one is an actual cardiologist
@@iand4374I thought he was a brain surgeon

2:38 I like to imagine someones asking him where he's going and he says "it'll just be a minute"
Their drummer is all I strive to be
So much respect to a band for doing what they’re good at and love to do really well and not milking it until it’s dead
Takes me back
tapping the 6 string bass is INSANE
Love the energy. These guys look like they really love what they're doing. And they should!
And then they quit!
This drummer is so on point
They're having so much fun. Always cool to see
damn I love that part where it quiets down around 3:30 then picks back up
The guitarist seems like a really cool guy.
All of them, actually.
