@@cloudysupreme9859 really? I don't see none. Jisoos and Jennie's solos are probably the most unique bp songs because they're not traditional beat drop anthems, but flower is anti-drop bop
@@jjpopesupremacy8762 Flower has some similarities that has that Teddy signature EDM sound, it’s also in solo. As well as the chorus having a higher beat two times and then a lower octave beat two times. But overall, Flower is my favorite solo bp song (along with All Eyes of Me, Gone, Hard To Love).
we both were very focused in the song and then at the end I just burst into tears because when I first became fan she was not treated very well and now here she is, one of the most biased and has 2 solo songs with the highest budget so far I am so happy with how far she and the rest of BLACKPINK came I cant even put it into words!!
My Jichu!!!! Jisoo isn't even my bias but Flower is BY FAR the best BP solo song IMO. I love that it's not overly produced and the simplicity of the song fits HER so perfectly. And her visuals in this one!!! 🥵🥵🥵 Well worth the wait.
If we go with the Solo comparison, I would also like to point out that the vibe and take away from the "break up" is different and very fitting for each of them. Jennie's is more passionate and even some anger and hurt over the break up which to me expresses Jennie's personality well as she is usually more emotional and "passionate" about things than Jisoo is. Jisoo's solo however takes a different approach to the break up because while yes, she is hurting, it's way more resolved and level headed. She has made peace with it and there is no anger or unresolved feelings - it gives more melancholy over the relationship ending and why it ended but no battling the fact that it has ended. Which I think is a very Jisoo approach to it, as she is the most rational and usuall more well resolved emotionally of the group (the girls have said it themselves).
Agreed I think her version of the break up fits her. I wonder if the timing is relevant too. Solo seems like it's in process 'I'm going solo' whereas flower already has the relationship blowing away and only the scent left. Its almost a continuation. Ekkkkkkkk
I know people are complaining about this song but it's PERFECT for her. It is so refreshing to hear a song like this, delicate yet catchy, simple yet affective, soft yet sexy. I was praying for Jisoo's solo to NOT be a party track and thank God it's not.
Nowadays every title track needs to be over the top for people to enjoy it. I love the simplicity of this song, it’s so elegant and screams expensive! This is by far the best solo from Blackpink in my opinion of course, I know that others opinions will be different.
@BTS & Army I absolutely agree! Even musically, this is the most well made song out of all 4 Also, this has elements from korean traditional music, which is so smart! Jisoo is the perfect classy Korean beauty so this is on brand!
She really IS just the most elegant person you'll ever see. Even when she's being goofy with her friends, there is a delicate, sophisticated air about her that is undeniable. If there was ever a Korean Audrey Hepburn,.. it is Kim Jisoo. NO ONE is THAT casually gorgeous.
I love Flower, its such a good debut for Jisoo that shows who she is. It sounds so different from anything the other members or Blackpink in general has released, which is really cool. I love that she's getting to fully shine and show us herself artistically
I really like FLOWER. I think the simplicity yet the complexity in the music production and the vocal techniques she used (respectively). it sounds so delicate and elegant. almost like royal type of music I'd say. I'm also sad and happy at the same time because she said she worked on the music (lyrics) yet her name was nowhere to be found on the credits just like it happened with JENNIE SOLO. however, I'm quite relieved because we've seen jisoo write before (for LOVESICK GIRL, YEAH YEAH YEAH and her covers : Habits and Clarity) so I'm glad she had a hand in the writing even though yg did her dirty.
Controversial statement: I have a fairly strong notion that the subtext of the video is that rather than it being an ordinary love story, Jisoo is playing a sex worker, a 'flower girl.' In past centuries in China, Japan and Korea, the title 'sing-song girl' (Chinese:), or 'flower girl,' was a slang term for a courtesan. The yellow building which Jisoo stands outside of, looking in at a set of pearls, was painted that colour specifically for this MV shoot. It strongly suggests the 1996 Korean film 'Yellow House,' which is about a sex worker who struggles with her identity when she is forced to leave the Yellow House brothel of the title. Jisoo is playing the role of someone who is deeply conflicted by her profession, with all the waiting around in hotel rooms and lobbies, avoiding eye contact with maids and elevator operators, plus all the inevitable heartbreak and loneliness. At the same time she is still attracted to the money she makes and the sense of power it brings, as this may be her only alternative to poverty. The tearing off of the choker at the end is a signal of the character taking charge of her independence. She is no one's pet or possession. PS: This is a description of a role that actress Jisoo is playing. It is not actually a description of our wonderful Jisoo, the brilliant and talented actor and singer from Blackpink.
So she's playing a character? Interesting view. I'd love to know if the creatives recognised the references to have multiple messages or if it's a total coincidence
Either that or perhaps she is using that reference to eloquently say how the breakup makes her feel….reflecting on their relationship and how it can be reinterpreted…😒
What I get from this is that the flower represents not her, but the feeling that was blooming between her and her love interest… but the other part hesitated (as she mentions a “leaf of hesitation”) and let her go, that’s why the only thing left is the “scent of flower” like a memory of the love that never came to be.
As with any BP MV, the more I see it, the more I love it. We know how well Jisoo can dance, but here they focus on modern interpretative dance...and it works providing such depth of emotion!
For someone who has been with blackpink for a long time, Jisoo's debut is something so emotional to me. Like back then we barely get Jisoo's line and screentime, now she has a two full songs with only her, an MV with only her. Like this was something so hard to imagine back then bec their company barely gives her anything. People underestimated her so much but now she's proven everyone wrong. 🥺
"Flower" is so simple yet elegant (and so addicting lol). I also love the lyrics, feels really eloquent and everything imo just fits Jisoo's vibe. A calm yet charming and an air of mystery to it. It's not a BP or YG song, it feels like a Jisoo song 😊
Been waiting for your review cause it’s so realistic and comprehensive. Appreciate your passion and the timing of your inflection points in the video. The video portrayed a failed relationship as a trophy wife in a hotel. At the beginning, she’s dressed like a trophy - overly glamorous. The man didn’t marry the woman for her real self but for the status she brings. When she looks in the mirror, there are two images: one that doesn’t speak (trophy wife) and the one that speaks (real self). Also, she is living in luxurious hotel that isn’t really home. In the end she dresses less ”trophy” like and leaves the hotel.

Though the lyrics of Flower may seem like it's about a guy, I feel the 'guy' is actually all the ppl who kept jisoo on a pedestal in terms of beauty and ended it there. Ppl who say they were drawn to her visuals and that's all they want from her, all they expect from her, to just stay in this beautiful bubble (castle) & keep looking pretty. So many ppl (mostly antis) have always maintained that Jisoo brings only beauty to the table, that she's not talented. They built this 'beauty' palace & confined her there, at first luring her (or more like her reputation) in with praises then once she's in, they dictated that this is all she is worth, so just live here for the rest of your life, wearing all these dresses & jewelry (seen in her room) looking pretty and don't even think of stepping outside of this image. The ppl also positioned themselves around her in the castle (social media etc) to ensure that they keep her trapped there. She realized these ppl initially fooled her into thinking they actually love her whereas they just want her confined. Thus the shrewd looks she gives the staff in the castle. She knows they aren't there to nurture her, they are there to make sure she can't escape. But she eventually escapes leaving just a ghost of her image that they tried so hard to trap her in.
Hey, I like your take...what if this is her ode to YG and the fact the band will not be under the label. I hope it does not happen, obviously. But her street dance scene was like Lisa's in money. But you made a good point...they have all made these breakup type songs and Lisa, did LaLisa, which was her coming out party. If you look at the album notes, Teddy and Vince of the Black Label were the producers. I think this song absolutely is soooo Jisoo! Queen Jisoo!
