Marc Gruber is truly a master musician. One of the most enjoyable, and musically interesting performances of this Concerto I have ever witnessed. Fantastic!
Terrific interplay with the orchestra. Delicate articulation, splendid phrasing and intonation to boot. A terrific performance, and live, as well! Bravo!
This kind of new soloist should be the product of all those that came before him and play so much better in facility and production that we don’t notice what used to be risks for players of my generation. Marc you sound glorious sir! Taking Strauss 2 onstage is a risk in and of itself. Bravo young maestro Gruber!
Bravo! after 35 years of horn playing, I enjoy listening to the younger crop of players....Horn players will always hold a special place in my heart. Be interesting to know how many total horn players there are in the world now and in pass years...
Für dieses Hornkonzert glaube ich, hat Richard Strauss eine Ohrfeige von seinem Vater erhalten, der selber Hornist war. Sehr anspruchsvolles Konzert für einen jeden Hornisten.
respectfully disagree...C'mon, man, this guy is playing on an Alex double....and quite beautifully, at that. Great characteristic sound. Many players play on triple horns...gotta respect the double!!!!
@@DAVID-et1lj good. I did, too. Actually, I played a Lawson, then a Lewis. An Alex before that, (an Englebert Schmid in early 1980's)..they guy plays well, doncha think?

B R A V O ! Absolutely brilliant solo performance, So very handsome, too! And the orchestra did a master job in supporting him. Altogether wonderful.

Strauss hat sein zweites Hornkonzert 1943 geschrieben. Sein Vater ist bereits 1905 gestorben. Dass mit der Ohrfeige wird schwierig.
