PROS:
1. Good price. $2100 for 9 days 8 nights with flights all inclusive.
2. The rooms are huge. I had a king-sized bed, a huge tv, a walk in shower, and a balcony. It is a gorgeous room!
3. The mini-fridge is part of the all-inclusive package
4. There is so much food and alcohol.
5. The pool is warm.
6. There are activities throughout the day and night.
7. We are right by the center of Playa del Carmen where there are lots of bars, stores, clubs, and all kinds of attractions.
CONS:
1. This is a supposed beach place but the beach is pathetic. Barely any beach front and it is not advised to swim in it as there are lots of rocks and algae and the water looks murky by the shore.
2. You have to make a reservation to eat at any of the restaurants of the hotel, other than the buffet place Ventanas and their sushi place Off The Hook. There is also not a straightforward way to make a reservation. They say to call from your room but no one ever picks up. then they say the sure fire way is to go to this place by the coffee shop and make a reservation there though I have almost never seen anyone there.
3. the food is mediocre. If you are expecting very good mexican food or food in general, this is not the place. There is some good food but it is easy to get tired of it when you eat it every day. Even the restaurants have pretty mediocre food. At the italian restaurant, Bella, my soupand gorgonzala salad were delicious. The carbonara, pizza, and meat were very salty and were hard to eat.
4. The other thing about the restaurants is that they have lots of extra charges that are not a part of the inclusive deal. You have to pay for alcohol like wine, whiskey and for some specific types of food like some steaks and seafood. I don't like it. If I am paying for all inclusive, I don;t want to be upcharged for things left, right, and center. They do this in many other ways as well.
5. They have these very nice cabanas by the pool but you have to pay $89 or more in order to use them.
6. Everything ends really early, especially for an all-adults resort. They have activities like fire dancers and other activities but they don't go past 10pm. One bar closes at midnight, all the others close much earlier. It makes it hard to do a lot of things.
7. You have to use another card to get a pool towel but when they close, you have to go to the front desk to get your card back and they don't even insist on your having the towel with you.
8. Some of the staff are very friendly and some of them are not. They are especially friendly if you speak in Spanish.
9. They are always trying to get you to pay more for things: massages; special alcohol; food and the stores outside the resort are worse. Most charge RIDICULOUS prices and you have to be a very skilled negotiator to even get just a decent price (decent means they are still jipping you by a lot but you are paying prices that you would pay in the US or a little less). Beware of these sharks~
10. All of the cocktails and alcohol with a sweet element taste overly sweet. In order to fight diabetes they use some type of sucrose that has a nauseatingly sweet taste and they use bottom shelf alcohol for all of their drinks. To get something decent, you have to pay extra.
11. The tipping culture is weird. There is no reaal tipping culture in Mexico but due to globalization and tourist culture, many demand a tip. Not expect but demand. Say what?!!
12. The water for the pool is way too hot. It's July and August, it is super hot and humid (in the 90s fahrenheit) and the water is also hot. Not warm but hot. It does not help your body cool whatsoever.
13. In that vein, the resort only has air conditioning in your rooms and the restaurants. The rest of the resort is a hotbed so be prepared.
14. If you are a light sleeper, the walls are very thin. They are also going through construction and that with the people yelling, partying, going here and there can be tough for light sleepers.
15. The person who refills the minibar and the housekeeping knock at your door way too early at your door. at 8 or 9am. Sometimes they do it even when the do not disturb sign is on. If you want to sleep more, it is not ideal.
16. WILD STORY TIME:
When we were sitting in the common area, An employee came to my brother and said that he wasn't allowed to smoke. The thing is that my brother doesn't smoke. He insisted that he saw my brother with a smoking object in his hand and was just warning him. My sister and I were with him and my brother had no such instrument (cigarette, vape, or otherwise). I had to check the employee and tell him that he was wrong. I insisted that he apologize and explained it was alright that he was wrong but he should be careful of unchecked biases and prejudices.
Overall I give the resort between 3.6-4.0 out of 5 depending on the aspect of the resort. Overall 3.8
This is a fine resort. They are better ones.

Oh no! I would be disappointed about the cuisine. I would something authentic and great while there. And it doesn’t seem the resort doesn’t have this. And how confusing it is about the restaurant reservations! Nice resort review!
