In this video I show an update on my elephant ear plants so everyone can see how they are progressing since last year. My elephant ears were massive last year, so how do they look now???

Thank you very much for watching!
I made this same exact mistake late last January. I had several huge plants that took frost damage twice. Wish I’d seen your video sooner. Now I know better. Thanks.
Those elephant ears are very forgiving. They can take heavy fertilizer without burning. I had three in my back door and they grew close to 7ft bc I was always watering them with miracle gro. I would fill a 5 gallon bucket with water and add 6 to 8 spoons of the large side of the measuring spoon. I like that spot you have yours in. They love water and areas that stay damp.
Yes agreed. I need to do another video on mine b/c they are looking good this year. We don't have gutters on our house so the water from the roof comes down and soaks them when it rains.
TY for sharing… I am so sorry your plants didn’t grow back, I feel so sad for you. That is shameful that ppl give out bad advice. This is my first year growing EE so I am really taking your advice. Good luck to you and God bless! Xoxo
Thank you for watching the video, and I hope it helped you; even if you only told you what NOT to do. My elephant ears have grown back really well this year and they are doing great right now, but still not as large as they were previously. I am planning on doing an update video on them soon.
I realize it's kind of randomly asking but do anyone know of a good website to stream new tv shows online ?
@Ezra Forrest Thanks, I signed up and it seems like a nice service =) I appreciate it !
@Payton Ernest happy to help :D
Thankyou for this tip. So when the winter frost kills off the leaves your theory is to trim off only the dead leaves and leave the trunk to revive in the spring.
Yes that is correct
@@thesecretgarden6948 Would this practice work in Zone 5 Ohio? Can you leave the bulbs in the ground or would you have to remove them once the leaves start dying?
@@willingj1 I am not sure about Ohio.. When I lived in TN (zone 7a) you could leave them in the ground... that's as far north as I have lived though. I would try calling local nurserys and ask them.
Thank you for sharing, new to any tropical plant growth or care.
Promise not to make your same mistakes🙏🏻
Great video
I'm sorry man. That's a bummer. Beautiful plant still.
What zone are you in? Do the trunks not freeze or do you have a way to protect the plant's trunk? I'm in zone 7B and I have to dig up bulbs to store them indoors. Otherwise the entire bulb freezes and rots.
I’m in 7B, and I’ve never had to dig mine up. I just cut them down to about 10-12 inches high and cover them with bagged grass on the last yard cut of the year
Go with your heart and gut… 😊😎🌱
How did they do this year?
Thanks so much for sharing this. It's very kind of you and I really appreciate it. 💖🙏💖🌱💖🙏
Thanks for this!
My pleasure! I hope you enjoyed it.
This reminds me of the old saying, "Wisdom is learning from someone else's mistakes."
Thank you for sharing your experience with us. I feel a bit wiser from watching your video 👩🎓.
Those smaller elephant ears still look pretty good🐘.
It's been a few years now, so hopefully, you have towering plants by now.
I just bought a one foot high plant, so we have a loooong way to go!
Happy plantings💚!
Ivy is a strangler.
What zone are you in? I'm in 7 and was wondering if I could do that with mine! I hate having to start from scratch every year
Zone 8, you get colder weather than I do but I have a friend who grew them in TN, so it should work, as long as you have enough mulch to protect them in the winter.
Thanks for that great tip!
And....I just subbed 🙌
You are very welcome, thank you VERY much for watching and subscribing! I will be putting out an update video on my elephant ears soon!
Very helpful
It seems the problem is you took out the main ones rather than cutting down those side ones?
love this thank you! What part of the country are you in?? Im in SoCal and just got some elephant ears a couple months ago and they are doing great but was wondering if HERE we would need to cut them back. I hope yours grow back nicely!
You only need to cut them back if you have a frost and the leaves die back.. but you can just wait and if it happens then you can prune a BIT.. just not too much! :) I am in San Antonio TX, we get frosts but usually not to bad (except for this last year where the weather forgot we lived in TX and dumped a ton of snow on us).
you accidentally discovered reincarnation
Good video, great information.. but enough self-flagellation.
