I once read a book about animals and the chapter on owls began "Owls are, basically, flying cats." Owls and cats have the same prey (mice, voles, rabbits, etc.) and they are both basically nocturnal but can adjust and function well during the day. They have tremendous hearing (especially at higher frequencies) and can hear the chatter of mice and rabbits that we cannot. They both upchuck the fur of their prey to clean out their stomachs. Their eyes are very similar and react to movement. And they both have amazing body flexibility.

I love how you stroke her “nose” where the feathers are fluffiest, every time I see a barn owl I wanna touch that part so bad but no videos have people ever doing it!
All it takes is acclimation and trust. Humans, in general, are very disconnected with nature. We have the ability to live in complete harmony with every wild animal, but they fear us because we are wild cards and most don't understand how to communicate without language.

Or rather don't lol, it will haunt you), you'd have noticed their ears are right beside their eyes, you can see the backs of their eyeballs through the ear. Basically made to hear and see well, and razor sharp beak and claws to confirm the kill, and last but the most important, wings for the fastest, most silent flight. Amazing creatures!
It’s not the beak that kills typically. It’s those talons. Owls have insane grip strength in their claws and can easily crush bones (including yours!) if they so choose. The combined force of impact from an owl’s aerial “pounce” and the crushing strength of those razor-sharp claws closing around prey is often enough to kill them outright, as the owl usually grabs them along the spine, neck, or head. If it doesn’t kill immediately, it certainly incapacitates.
