I love this piece very much, although until now I have only really known it from Gyorgy Smirnov's male chorus performance from the 90's. It really takes on a different feel with the original scoring, and at this slower tempo -- it gains an additionally tragic feel, which one might say is warranted by the text of repentance, but I'm not sure I really prefer it. I was totally surprised by the addition of the _oktavist_ at по велицей on the last page. In any case or performance, Chesnokov's total fluidity with expressive harmony in beautifully flowing voices, and ubiquitous minor 13th chords, even in this homophonic texture, is a thing of wonder. No limit to his greatness. Thanks for posting!
Samaja luchshaja!
