- The Scorpions' fifth studio album "Taken by Force" was released on the 4th December 1977. It was the first album to feature drummer Herman Rarebell and the last with Uli Jon Roth who finally departed the band in 1979.

Klaus Meine is a top 5 best rock vocalist of all time
I have to admit, although I absolutly love Uli Jon Roths guitar playing, this version with Matthias sounds amazing too!
Indeed, Matthias JABS sounds amazing. Beautiful interpretation of this iconic gem from 'Taken By Force' from the GOLDEN Uli ROTH era! SCORPIONS couldn't have found a better musician than Matthias JABS. Love both eras of SCORPIONS.

oh this was great, Klaus on fire, what a voice... Mathias just recently joined, very quiet, gaining confidence, the stage beast not unleashed yet, all eyez on crazy Rudy this time, Francis sounding better that in TokyoTapes and Herman burning his calves up on that epic ending... magnificent

I'll tell you what. Say what you will about Francis he was hitting that bass pretty dang good. At a whole the best band I have ever seen live. 3 times Scorpions Rock Big Time!
Yeah. This is The Gold Masterpiece from Scorpions. Matthias is the BesT Guitarist what I ever seen (my option). And Rudolf Schenker is so powerful Guitarist. Klaus is Amazing vocalist. He's voice is so powerful and clean ( but not on the 1979-1982) When he got a vocal surgery (sing Too much and I Just watched a Some News cobule years ago. And Klaus said "You have to understand, in my early club days in Germany, I wasn't playing the usual 90 minute set. We were doing cover songs and sometimes we would play five to six hours a night, with little breaks in between. Years later, with the Scorpions, I think the heavy touring and studio schedule finally got me. My voice was in bad shape. I couldn't sing and I thought my career was over,"
Scorpions..the best ever..seen them at least 15 times in concert..going back to 1979 Chicagofest..one of there first concert in USA..
Awesome, I'm jealous but I'm fortunate & thrilled to have seen the SCORPIONS in 1982 (Oakland, Ca) & a couple more times in mid '80's: DAY On The GREEN Concert Stadium Events..

What I wouldn't give to go back in time to the tokyo tapes and see the glorious album being made on stage. It's the only live album I've ever listened to that sends chills up my spine
And how is it that there is no full concert video footage of the greatest live rock album ever. Not even any individual song performance of Tokyo Tapes on recorded video.
@@jamesdeansghost5531 At that time it wasn't as common as it is today to make a video of everything. It was rather the exception.
@@laforzadeldestino4426 I believe there were three shows at the Sun Plaza with the second and third shows being the ones recorded and ultimately used for Tokyo Tapes. So it appears the idea was for the shows to be turned into a live album all along. Just seems odd not to record it on video as well for posterity.

Awesome footage from the first tour with Mattias Jabs on lead. Mattias is one of the most underrated metal guitarists ever, everyone talks about Michael Schenker, but he only played on two Scorps albums, Mattias is the one who came up with all the classic riffs on the songs that made the Scorpions superstars in the 80's.

Not even Michael only played in the first album only in few songs in the Lovedrive album. Scorps were very lucky they found Jabs.
Rudolph actually writes almost all the riffs and music for the Scorpions.
it was a great idea to restore this recording for 50th anniversary albums. please, keep going!

I love that it was filmed. Not a thing against Matthias but this is Uli's song. I hope that Uli releases more of his "home footage" from his Scorpions days. Uli was going his own way and Matthias fit perfectly. The rest, they say, is history. Thanks for the post.

Klaus is like a man with a soprano :) Can't really call this voice a tenor ) Matthias is great but still trying to find his ground here, he had big shoes to fill. He then found his style really fast don't you worry ;)

This has already been released :/ Can we please... please... get more unreleased rare 70s and 80s footage? Like we were promised. We keep getting stuff that’s been released with the exception of the Reading festival.
Batphink Reynolds yea, it was released as part of the Scorpions “50th Anniversary Collection” that was released in 2015/2016. This footage came as part of the Lovedrive rerelease in that collection.
Would love to see an Uli era full concert video. Apparently that doesn't exist.
