Tamron has done it again, this lens is a welcome addition for APS-C users and available at a fair price. The macro capability at the 20 MM focal length setting is surprisingly good. The general performance in actual use is excellent throughout the zoom range. Thank you Dustin Abbott for another great review.
My pleasure. Glad ot help out.
I just received the lens and I am very happy with the image quality. The weight is not a problem. It is a bit heavier than the Sony 10-18mm but, lighter than my 14mm f/2.8 Rokinon.
For sure. Glad you enjoy it
7:00am and I'm already watching this... Nice review as always, Dustin! Greetings from México City
That's a nice compliment. Thank you!
Great reviews Dustin. I find your reviews to be critically reliable and honest. Thank you so much from down south, Houston TX
Thank you very much. I'll be in Texas in a couple of weeks.
Great indepth review! Lots for me to think about!! Thankyou!! 👍🏾😁
My pleasure!
Always a thorough review.
Thank you.
Maybe this is a odd question, but If I have to choose one from Tamron 11-20mm f2.8 vs Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8, which one should I go for ? My requirements are travel photography, portraits of my daughter/wife and landscapes like mountains/ponds. Also I visit to cities in night so I take pics of architecture buildings that are glowed in night.
If portraits are part of your requirements, then I would go with the Sigma. 20mm isn't really long enough for portrait work.
@@DustinAbbottTWI Thanks a lot for your suggestion.
I’ve seen you review both this new lens and the new Samyang/Rokinon 12mm AF f2.8… I’m curious which you’d recommend between the two? I have a Sony a6100 and want a wide angle for mainly landscape/nature. Astro would be a bonus, but not a deal breaker. I’m torn because the sun flare on the tamron seems to be a downfall and I love sunbursts… but I’m concerned about the corner sharpness on the Samyang. I’d appreciate any thoughts!
Hi Rebecca, I think that either lens is a good choice. Corner sharpness on the Samyang looks as good as the Tamron at 11mm on the copies I tested, so I don't think that is a problem.
I need an ultra wide angle lens for indoor Real Estate videography with Sony ZV-E10 camera, what do suggest which lens is wider and a good choice for my work, Tamron 11-20mm or Samyang 12mm, Tamron is more expensive in my country but if it's a better than I'll manage please advise ?
If you prefer having a zoom, then going with the 11-20mm. The Samyang will save you some money. Both lenses have roughly similar image quality.

I don't need zoom option
plz make a vlog test with this lens using sony a6400; as a6400 is not come with ibis
plz do the needful help
I tested this on the 6400, and the lens has already been returned to Tamron.
Lack of IBIS is not an issue with such wide lengths. Same with AF.
Thanks :)
Welcome!
does it work on sony a7 iii?
Only in APS-C mode, and you wouldn't have much resolution there (10MP)
@@DustinAbbottTWI lot of thanks.
Any lens 11-20 to compatible with a 7 3. please suggest.
I would like to swap my 10-18 for this lens, but not sure it’s worth the cost to upgrade for me at this time :(
Upgrading can be a hard decision
Tamron’s lenses make it hard to justify Sony glass. No one is doing mirrorless “right” like Tamron has.
That's a fair take.
