These "professional" contractors need to me called out more often and legally held responsible for their shortcomings. There are more quacks like this than there are good craftsman contractors. Its a sgame and a headache for us (homeowners) Justice was SERVED
My dad owned his own small construction firm all my life until he semi retired prior to passing, there are few craftsmen like him out there these days. He could not only build a home from the studs up, but his cabinet building skills were sought out. It's sad to see what passes for carpentry skills these days!
The plaintiff commenting at the end that the contractor getting $15000 must mean they're a brain surgeon when he wanted $14000 for doing everything wrong 🤣

Who needs construction plans anyway, me and the boys just tend to wing it I ain't got time to be looking at some papers." and he said he told the defendant he would fix it an no additional cost, as if he'd be doing him a favor.

I think in this situation it's because he's trying to get a good chunk of money back. And maybe that bit of evidence was too good it could have been faked. I think usually the toilet paper receipt thing is for a different kind of situation.. Like, if the defendant says "I paid the plaintiff so and so", but neither he nor the plaintiff have a receipt, so he can't prove he did. That's when he should have used that technique.
