    Imagine if it had 0-10v input for 0ml to whatever the max speed is - controllers could then "dynamically" adjust the flow based on a probe or test result

    Yea ! You can match the dosing rate to the evaporation in the tank using a Kalk stirrer . You know , as a ATO . Maybe not deadly accurate , but possibly good enough ? Nice pump ! Good review ! You said essentially . What's the demensions of the tank in the back ground ?

    I have a question ❔. If you need more alk. Because alk is dropping. You add ml? (Go up on dial?)

    • @BRStv
      @BRStv  3 роки тому

      I'm assuming that you've got this attached to a calcium reactor. If so, then increasing the flow, while maintaining the pH inside the reactor, will give you more alkalinity into your aquarium

    So it can 1.44 liter /day ( whit 1ml/min ? ) is there any other pump what could even less then that ? 0.5 liter -1 liter /day ?

    What is the difference between lets say the kamoer x1 pro and this? I guess what I am asking is what is a peristaltic pump? I was checking out the x1 and x1 pro ,then saw a different model but same price and kamoer brand as well and one had the peristalic pump one didn't for same price!

    • @BRStv
      @BRStv  4 роки тому

      The Kamoer FX-STP is continuous duty, meaning that it runs at a certain ml/minute all day long. The X1 and X1 Pro pumps will run for shorter periods of time, usually multiple times per day. The biggest difference between those two is that the Pro operates off of wifi and will resume dosing as normal if you have a power outage. The non-pro version will connect to your phone via Bluetooth and will need to be reconnected to your phone in the event of a power outage.

  • @andycx2

    Can you set it to run at different speeds at different times automatically via the app? A good example is you don't want a calcium reactor to run at the same effluent rate 24 hours day because coral use less alkalinity at night.

  • @sojusliimtdflock

    Can this be used as an ATO and if so how would one do that...

    • @BRStv
      @BRStv  3 роки тому

      The minimum flow rate is likely too fast to use this as an ATO unless you have a massive tank. Even so, a purpose built ATO system like the Osmolator will be a better choice and even less expensive than the Kamoer FX-STP.

  • @r3ndszergazda

    Yeah that’s a bit of a bend. If you alter the flow through the reactor, the pH in it also changes and as a result the potency of the efluent as well in an inverse relation. So you do need to adjust the co2 rate manually as well to tune it. It’s not just as easy as turning a knob on the kamoer.

    • @BRStv
      @BRStv  4 роки тому +2

      True, however during our calcium reactor experiments, we didn't see as much of a change in pH as we expected as the flow rate was changed. You may not have to make as many (or as large) or adjustments as you might think.

    • @r3ndszergazda
      @r3ndszergazda 4 роки тому

      Bulk Reef Supply hm, that’s interesting. It would be lovely to see a video about efluent output dKh value at a fixed co2 rate. So to see how the system depends on co2,ph, and flow rate!

    2000 hour means 82 days..is that correct? Do we need to change the tubing every 3 months or so?

      If you're running 24/7, yup.

    • @DC-xg6gt
      @DC-xg6gt 4 роки тому

      That means it's not really suitable for carx or for 24/7 applications as oppose to what's adevrti

    • @ThomasBReef
      @ThomasBReef 4 роки тому +2

      @@DC-xg6gt All peristaltic pumps need the tubing changed; it's a wear and tear part. The motor's ability to run 24/7 without burning out, accurately at high and low speeds, in 0.1 increments is what makes this pump suitable for CARX. ;)

      For a continuous duty pump, that's actually a pretty long lifespan. The good news is that the replacement tube assembly is super easy to change and only about $8.

    Ok gotta admit, I cringed when I heard "want your kalk stirrer to ... match your evaporation", just no. Sorry..
    That said the tubing is rated for 2000 hours? at 24hrs a day that's changing every 3 months, is that normal?

    • @ThomasBReef
      @ThomasBReef 4 роки тому +4

      Everyone has different ways of running their system! I know a few reefers who run their kalk reactors to match their evap with great results. You would still run an ATO to pick up the slack, and this way you can adjust the Kalk lower than evap if need be, which gives more control than running your ATO through a Kalk reactor. To each their own, though! The hobby has a near endless number of ways to run a reef.
      All peristaltic pumps need to have the tubing changed periodically; it's a wear and tear part. If you can imagine how much more frequently a continuous duty pump has to run, say for a CARX etc, its dramatically more than most dosing pump applications where it only runs for a few minutes to a few hours a day at most.
