Self Love. This album is the most amazing journey of healing and self discovery. The vocoder effect on the vocals is very strong, such as "Fall For Me" from TPWBYT. Also, the backing vocals "Smile, back... At me.." near the end have the exact same vocal reverb from "The Way That You Were." They are intentional in everything that they do, and those 2 songs have the same direct lyrical themes as this track. They are all about the hard conversations we need to have with ourselves about loving ourselves as we are. About overcoming pain, and growing.
I broke up with my girlfriend of 7 years 3 days before they released this song and when I first heard it, just cried through the whole song....i love this band so much and hope to see them one day live
This album is going to be a fuckin masterpiece. I've waited years to hear a heavy alternative record where I loved almost ever song on it, and now it finally exists. Take me back to Eden will be talked about for years to come.
Personally I really enjoy this one and connect with the lyrics. I can see why others dislike it. The auto tune through me off at first as well but I believe there's a reason. In the song he seems to be talking about himself and his insecurities. He could be using Auto tune as a stylistic choice towards being insecure? To bring out the message of the song more. Man definitely shouldn't be insecure about his voice though because...damn it's spectacular.
100 percent of how you feel about this band I also feel. Their songs play atmospherically to the lyrical content. I discovered them yesterday, and am enamored but the depth of the messages. It’s like the sound harmonized the space in my life/soul that was unbalanced or unrecognized with auditory alchemy. Dormant fire reignited. VIBE ❤
I love this song. The lyrics are somewhat painful to listen to, but the actual vibe makes me feel chilled. I know it’s emotionally affected a few people though in relating to it. I don’t have a favourite because they all hit differently, and then again with the 4 I’ve seen live. Granite will always be near the top for seeing it before it was released and the build up to the breakdown followed by Vessels moves. That was an amazing experience.
That was just awful, it’s so far from the other songs. The producer needs sacking thinking that fits anywhere on this album. Just my opinion, if you like it you like it but to me that’s a Vessel side project at best…

The effect you're referring to is a vocoder. That said, there's actually both a vocoder and auto-tune on those sections. Expertly executed.
