I'm 38,Single with negligible responsibilities and yet I struggle to keep up with my promise of becoming a web developer. On the other hand Travis with a family of four children and with other responsibilities pulled this off. Hats off to Travis.
I think having a family that is dependent on you can actually become a huge source of motivation. You end up wanting a better life not just for yourself anymore, but mainly so that your family is happy. That's what keeps me going at least.
Hello Travis! I just wanted to thank you for this detailed roadmap. I had already started the Angela web development course around a week ago (October 26th ish 2022) so I was just so happy that this is the course you mentioned. I'm giving myself a bit more than 6 months (8 months) to learn these skills and make unique solid projects. After I'm done doing this I will enroll back to school for my computer science degree and apply right away for software engineer internships. Not only will I have learned modern technologies but also have a good resume which will give me an advantage (I hope) in applying for these positions. I'll come back around June/July of 2023 to update to see where I'm at in terms of internships or if I got a web development job. Writing this on November 5th 3:30am.
What separates you from other content creators is a great ability to mentor. Thank you for your honesty and thoroughness. I've decided to pursue learning web development on my own after realizing that most of the information and educational resources are available for a fraction of the price that many of these sketchily run companies are charging. Fortunately, I bailed out of a startup that charged 27k for getting users on board with a career in web development. It just made me raise an eyebrow at the whole thing.
Thank you Travis. This is such a great and sincere video. I just bought the course at a discount. I work in a grocery store and selling wine. I am not young but I want to change for a better job. I will come back in 6 months to comment again. May god bless you and your family happy and healthy.
Thanks Travis what u mentioned is the very basic of web development needs to have .let alone grapgql, redis mongoose redux firebase aws docker etc. What u mentioned in this course.some of them are obsolete the website won’t be the same documentation changed React now is 18.all of the course U mentioned,I learned them but not all of them due to some reason that I find not that useful . So I learn from different people so that I can feel which one suits me the best
In relation to the recommended course, I took it and thoroughly enjoyed my time learning Dr. Yu's teaching style & course content. However, it is severely outdated. The content on HTML, CSS and JavaScript is good enough. She even touches on the basics of React. But the backend content (Node.JS, Express, MongdoDB) is not even worth going through. My suggestion is do the course for the frontend technologies, but look elsewhere for backend. Nonetheless, great video Travis.
Hey Travis! I understand that front end development is one of the most entry level positions in the field. With that said, that’s what I want to do first just to finally make the big career change and get real world experience to eventually become a full stack developer. My first coding language was Python, and I’ve recently just bought Angela Yu’s 100 days of code Python course, and I’m two weeks in. I hope I didn’t make a big hiccup by not picking her full stack development course and learning JavaScript first. Did I make a mistake? I kinda feel like I’m in the early stages of just learning coding logic, and considering Python is such an easy language to understand, regardless this will help me use this coding logic toward other languages in the long run. What do you think?
I am trying web building without JavaScript. Am I a bad dude ? I can't go 100% without it, but I try hard to avoid it - searching for solutions, trying out different things etc.
What if I mainly want to focus on WordPress development? Would your suggested course still be best? I always hear people talk about learning PHP and that course doesn't include PHP.
Her Web Dev course was actually the first I bought then ended up walking away from it. Only got as far as CSS. I know you did another video on an alternative path in Software Development. Would you recommend me to go back to her course and continue or should I go for AWS/Python instead if I want to break into tech quickly?
Great content , I have just found your channel really like your advice. I am a 51 yr old from the UK and I am half way through. I have a question what do you think about Microsoft cloud certification and learning python would it be harder this way to get in. Anyway best wishes. Jamuna

I am former student of Arabic language, and not really math and variables guy...
Hi Travis, Great vid! Should i start off with AWS and learn Python alongside that as you said in your last vid on how to become a developer, or follow this blueprint?
Hi Amarion! It depends really on your current skillset and your interest in this pursuit. Have you done any web development. If so, do you enjoy it? Then go that route. Do you think you would like cloud computing, virtual servers, automation, etc alongside of a programming language like Python? Then you could go that route. I would suggest going the path that you think (or know) would be more exiciting for you. Either way you get to do programming and write code. But would you prefer web apps/websites or cloud development? Does that help? And thanks for the comment!
@@TravisMedia great advice, thank you! Now that you have tried both, webdev and cloud computing, which one do you prefer/enjoy more? If you were to start all over again, would you choose Python + AWS Cert over the webdev path?

Hi Travis, how are u?! First of all, thanks for your content. So... when it comes to react what should I do about state management?! I'm kind confuse about context / redux / redux tool kit. Thanks again and wish you the best.
Thanks Alan! I would start off passing props and not using state management.
