- Russia's Luna-25 has failed to enter its scheduled pre-landing orbit of the moon. The spacecraft ran into unspecified trouble while trying to enter orbit. It was due to enter the pre-landing orbit around the same time as the Chandrayaan-3 Lander Module, but the manoeuvre was unsuccessful. India's spacecraft Chandrayaan-3 is currently orbiting the moon and will likely attempt a landing near the pole this week. Watch the video for more.

Theguardian: Russian state television put news of the loss of Luna-25 at number eight in its lineup at noon and gave it just 26 seconds of coverage, after news about fires on Tenerife and a four-minute item about a professional holiday for Russian pilots and crews.
The failure underscored the decline of Russia’s space power since the glory days of Cold War competition when Moscow was the first to launch a satellite to orbit the Earth - Sputnik 1, in 1957.
It also comes as Russia’s US$2 trillion economy faces its biggest external challenge for decades: the pressure of both Western sanctions and fighting the biggest land war in Europe since World War II.
Russia has been racing against India, whose Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft is supposed to land on the moon’s south pole this week, and more broadly against China and the US, which both have advanced lunar ambitions.
Russian scientists have repeatedly complained that the space programme has been weakened by poor managers who are keen for unrealistic vanity space projects, corruption and a decline in the rigour of Russia’s post-Soviet scientific education system.
Expert says this was expected since there is widespread corruption, brain drain and incompetence in the Russian management of the space program.
I look at it this way it shows how incompetent the Russians are in space. I would like to see a photo montage of Russian crash landings on the moon going back to the sixties. There are a lot of them. Meanwhile America has put men on the moon going back more than 50 years ago. We have got working probes that have left our solar system we have multiple missions to mars we have the parker solar probe to the sun we have been to the furthest reaches of our solar system and we have space telescopes that have and are looking deeply into space looking for life and habitable planets. These are just to name a few and now we have another failed Russian mission to the moon. Nothing new here. I guess America makes it look easy. Competence can do that for you. We have won the space race and continue to do so. So take your baby steps to the moon as we move forward to mars and beyond.

Meanwhile, the USA has a drone flying around Mars plus two rovers on the ground. The Hubble and Web telescopes in space collecting data from the beginning of time. The voyagers 1 and 2 , which are the first man made objects to leave our solar system. The USA does not need to send probes to the Moon, we have already sent actual men there and we will return. The Moon will be a gateway for the USA and our allies to Mars and beyond.

@@moodymood28 OMG!! Jao jakar thora science padho. Roscosmos had this mission for 1 year. During a year, it was found that the right time to land on the south pole was on only 3 days: 21st August, 22nd August and 24th August, if they begin the mission in the early days of August. So they started on 10th of august. There was no other appropriate date to launch Luna-25. Moreover it was also important to see when the light of sun approaches the south pole. So keeping all these factors in mind, it was decided to launch it on August 10th.

@@theepiccreator2042 start of lunar day is actually 23rd August.. that's y ISRO also chooses that day to land.. and this lunar mission is a joint venture with europian space agency.. but they moved out after it started because of Ukraine war.. they should have taken their time to analyse it correctly when Europeans left the mission.. but they choose it specifically when the people left.. that's what I mean..
