I love choosing and sending nice Christmas cards but seems to not be as popular with the younger generations enjoyed watching your videos some great makes Best Wishes from Scotland 🏴😊
I’m a cardmaker, and I send out handmade cards for every single holiday, as well as birthdays, anniversaries, and sympathy. I send about 30 Christmas cards the first week of December, every year! Love doing this so much! ☃️🎅🏼❄️
I would much rather have a mailed Christmas card than a gift, I used to exchange with the missionaries of our town churches. They loved getting word from home and I loved getting them from all the wonderful countries. ❤
Same here!! I am currently making my 35 Christmas cards. I will then start on my New Years cards, birthday cards & Anniversary cards for the year. I really love making tags too, so I will be usig some of the ideas from this video.
I love projectors, my dad had one when he was alive, he was an automotive engineer, and an artist. I one made the coolest sweatshirt for myself of a horse head with puffy paint, using the projector and my horse magazine!
For years as an added touch, I took my nieces and nephews when growing up Christmas shopping. I would buy a role of Kraft paper or butcher paper, get out the crayons, markers etc, and they would make their own Christmas wrapping paper. It was economical and the parents loved it.
❤️ Shannon this was an excellent video. I have been in bed all weekend and my boss is off all week so I cannot be out tomorrow. I have to start work at 7am and it was about 9:50pm and I told myself, no I cannot go to bed until I finish this video. 😊 My weakness is cardstock and wrapping paper. For years I have used wrapping paper as the mat in a frame for photographs of my niece and nephews when young. Years ago I made origami ornaments out of the wrapping paper that is like foil for the ornaments that have to be super flat and pointy. I gave it up as they are very tricky to do but my Sister makes beautiful 3 sided Christmas tree ornaments with wrapping paper. As a child when going to my grandmother's home she wrapped our gifts up in the New York Times Funny Pages as they were called (cartoons) and us children thought the world of the idea, we didn't realize my grandparents were having a hard time financially. My grandmother made us girls beautiful skirts out of scraps of fabric such as a crazy quilt is and she did all her own zig zag stitches by hand. I still have mine saved. She gave my brother paint brushes and paper from the Dime store. Years ago out of double sided thin cardstock that I bought at Tuesday Morning I made those ornaments that look like a Gnome or Santa. They came out pretty well and in their hat you can wiggle in one of those Gheradelli square foiled chocolates. I made quite a few of them and sold them at one of my craft sales. Also, just last week I purchased from Amazon a gift tag punch. It's from the Recollections paper company. The punch can make a large, Medium and a small tag. You have to punch your own hole in it. I have not tried it yet but when I'm feeling better I need to clean up my kitchen from all the supplies from my rec'd t craft sale before I start on a new craft. Earlier today I watched a craft video and I like the crafter very much, have watched her for years, but I was surprised when she said she didn't like the Dollar Tree wrapping paper. Two Christmas ago I bought DT paper and the back drop of the paper was what I call a brown paper bag color. They out it had dark trees and little red metallic cardinals and near another tree a brown deer. I wrapped up family gifts in them for our family dinner. Many remarked about the paper under the tree not knowing the gifts were from me. No one knew whose was whose. It was for a Bingo game. My Dad's wife was the hander outter and only she knew who brought the various paper wrapped gifts. When truth was told my Sister In Law thought my paper came from Macy's or Nordstroms. I always took pride in picking out very nice paper. I never knew paper would curl either, that's awesome to know. I think down a dining room table a mess of curly wrapping paper would be festive. I am praying and hoping I can get my little place ready by Christmas time to have family in and a couple of friends. I am overwhelmed being in such a tiny place, but it's the place God has provided for now. My Mom left me her living room set and her dining room set which has a nice harvest table on a treadle it's called. I cannot move it myself I hope a neighbor can help me. Shanon I loved everything you made tonight. Wonderful ideas! Love, Rebekah
We still send out 60 cards every single Christmas. My husband is one of 13 kids(there are 52 grand/great grand kids)..so he has a huge family and they live in AZ ans UT and we live in VA. They look forward to our newly designed card each year. It usualy consists of family photos taken each month. ❤This way it shows them what we have been up to that year 🎄 Im mailing this years batch tomorrow!
Also from Arizona, and I am the youngest of 11. Niece, nephew, great niece, great nephew, and now great great nephew count is 107. 💟 Big families are the best.
I used to "wrap" my artwork in wrapping paper to decorate my walls for Christmas. Then one day I got the same idea you used and bought some cheap-o frames in the same color and framed the paper. What a time saver. Now each year, I take my artwork down and replace it with the Christmas pics in no time. at the end of the season I take them down and store them away for next year. I love it!
New here not really a Christmas person more of Halloween guy but seeing this gave me an idea for a Christmas village just need a specific wrapping paper and some of those 3 part poster boards 😅
We have a wooden train at church to put cards in for members. The engine is for pastor and family, 8 wooden boxes for each - abc, def, ghi, jkl, mno pqrs, tuv, wxyz, then the caboose is for the staff members. Weve had it for decades and everyone gets excited to put their cards in before church then stand around and find theirs after church. It makes everyone happy to find someone thought about them! Its a beloved tradition and keeps giving cards a cheaper endeavor because theres no postage needed. 😊❤❤❤
I had too much wrapping paper that I'll never use so I've got it bagged up for donation! Thank you for showing us these ideas today on how to use the paper for other things besides wrapping. I just ordered the tape runner and a refill. I've never seen that brand before. I love the Xyron stickr maker too! Yes I still send Christmas cards in the mail. I love to do that every year! Thanks for sharing today Shannon!📦🎄
I make and send cards for every occasion. I think it’s so nice to get cards in the mail. Let’s the other person know how important they are to you. ❤❤❤
❤ I love watching your ideas come to life. They are all great ideas and can even involve your children/grandchildren. I used to love using old Christmas cards to make tags for the next year. I used to sit with my mam and make paper snowflakes, paper chains, and tissue decorations, and always found it made the season more magical! Unfortunately, you dont hear of this so much now, if at all. As for cards, i send some, but i do get told not to bother as they'll just be put in the bin! I do try getting my grandchildren involved when i do those things, but they are boys, and one is 14 and is very tech gadget only, and the 7 year old, we don't see much either. It doesn't have the same feeling when you do it alone 😢
❤ Teacher here. Love the Xmas ornament idea for my preschoolers. I’m going to substitute little Pompoms . I don’t want little bloody, injured fingers or parents mad at me for chopped up hair before Xmas photos. Great for fine motor skills. 😊
I mail cards it like sending a beautiful gift through the mail. I show mine off on a string from the stairway. I save mine and the beautiful ones and put in frames the next year. I love all you ideas, some I have used. The envelope seal stickers is awesome.
I LOVE ALL of your ideas Shannon. You are a talented true artist. I love all things Christmas, therefore I love the Cozy Christmas Cottage. I’m also subscribed to The Daily DIYer. I do still mail out Christmas Cards. Tradition. It’s like giving a “gift”. 😊
Such fun, economical, and creative ideas! I do send out Christmas cards every year! I see several of your ideas that I want to try- so glad I found your channel
I’m impressed! I like things simple and you have shown me how to accomplish things I never expected and the end result is beautiful and it doesn’t take a lot of $$$ or time. Thanks for sharing these great ideas!❤️❤️❤️
My Dad was the plant Manager of a printing ink company when my Brothers and I were little, and he brought home a HUGE roll of paper. We used it for everything!! One of our favorite things to do was to make our own wrapping paper, for Birthdays and Christmas. Our Mom would cut out raised designs on a raw potato. Using poster or acrylic paint, we would "stamp" out our designs and use it to wrap gifts and make cards
Great great great ideas! I love everyone of them. ❤ Yes I do send Christmas cards every year. I get fewer and fewer back. Lol. But I know they are received. So I’m happy with that. I like to embellish with gold and silver paint markers. I write very sincere warm messages inside. I feel if I don’t connect with people all year, we’ll at least they know I thought about them. Can’t wait to see more of you Holiday ingenuity. 🎁
Yes, I still send Christmas cards. I don’t receive as many, but I treasure the ones I get. I save the front of the cards and use as gift tags on big gifts! You can also frame them for free decor.
I have made gift tags from my received cards for years. My closest people intentionally send me cards that have many possibilities. I make each one different and add several touches and scrapbooking ideas. This is a good autumn activity.
Good morning! I send approx. 100 homemade cards every year. A couple of tips; On the jar...Tie the ribbon/ paper to the band part of the jar- not below to the neck of the jar. This way you can take the lid on and off without disturbing the paper. For the Xyron... I notice you burnished from the front but if you also burnish from the back, you get more of the adhesive. Clever on the paper bow! I know some people use the same wrapping paper for each person under the tree. That ornament would be the perfect way for them to find their gifts. Use the scraps from wrapping their gifts to make the ornament then put their name on the outside of the ornament. I'd even include the year. this way they know by the paper in the ball which gifts under the tree are theirs AND they have a collectible ornament to remember that Christmas. Save their ornaments from year to year in an ornament box and give as a housewarming gift in their first home. Great projects! Creative Christmas Blessings!
❤ I like using gift paper to make custom envelopes for greeting cards & holiday letters. I just carefully unfold an envelope the size I need & trace it onto the back of my wrapping paper. Then I cut it out, make the folds & glue it together. I use holiday stickers to seal them closed. It just gives the card or letter a little bit of extra pizazz. Your ides are lovely. Wishing you a very safe, happy & healthy holiday season! 🎁
I am loving these ideas Shannon! Also, i just wanted to say i love how smoothly your voice over comes across. Some aren't ao articulate but yours sounds very professional! It's distracting when it doesn't flow well. I have a cricut maker but i never use it. Its too much work. I actually prefer paper punches and i have several that make tag shapes. This is in regard to your tag cutouts. Since you didn't mention that option. If the wrapping paper is thin and you think it may not be able ro handle the punch, adhere it to some cardstock first with glue stick and that should help reinforce it. And it can also be used as a two sided tag if you choose a contrasting cardstock.
I love getting Christmas cards!!! So I send as many as I can!!! 30 - 35 seems to be the number this year! Make some of them with cards from previous years!!! Great ideas, Shannon ❤😊
I still send out cards in the mail. I actually just ordered my photo cards to send out. I usually attach a letter summarizing our year. I love seeing how my out of town friends kids grow each year!
Yes! I send real cards each year. My tradition is this...on Thanksgiving evening/night I watch a movie and work on my cards. I send out about 60 cards a year.
These are fantastic and creative projects. I don't know HOW you come up with so many ideas! You are so talented. Thank you for sharing all of these ideas with us, Shannon. ❤
I send out 125 Christmas cards -- 100 domestic and 25 international -- so I have the project down to a science. Photo cards with a holiday message and year, photo address labels with head shots of my spouse and me dressed as Christmas elves. I use My MailList mailing list and label software to keep the address book. You can add zip code bar codes at the bottom of the address label to eliminate hand sorting, and have the cards arrive in a day or two instead of a week. Add colorful holiday labels to decorate the envelope. A peel-and-stick Christmas forever stamp in the corner and it's done! What a great surprise to find that this year the Post Office had elf forever stamps that matched our return address labels. Note: If desired, a "newsletter" can be printed out and inserted into each card as your go.
I use the Dollar Tree Christmas gift wrap for the bottom of my parrot’s cage under the wire but on top of the tray, which gives her cage some festive decoration! She doesn’t know the difference but it’s pretty cute. I just cut a stack, one for each day of the month of December. ❤🦜
I send out cards every year and really want to start making my own. Loved the idea of making my own stickers so thanks for the link to the sticker machine. All of these were fun/festive crafts. Thank you for sharing!
❤Really great ideas! I love thrifty crafts that look amazing like everything you've made! Thanks for the alternate ways/tips to create if we don't have some of those expensive tools. Love that these don't have to be just for Christmas...although I really do love Christmas crafts/decor! Oh, and I make and send out about 40 Christmas cards every year!
The deer silhouette, next year (which I'm already gearing up for) for sure. Also, for folks without a Cricut, for the tags you can simply trace an existing tag, even a clothing tag.
Def send out cards and I keep all mine!..I junk journal with mine❤great projects Shannon!..I stopped your video to make the paper bag snowflake thanks for the inspiration I’m gonna hang mine underneath my porch by my Xmas tree❤
We ❤️ 🐌 📬! The kids still get excited when a letter 💌 comes addressed to them...they are teenagers. Your ideas are so easy yet makes a good impression.👍❤️🙏
Wonderful video, Shannon!! Neat ideas!! Going to get that sticker maker!! What a fun thing!! Yes, I'm a card sender, not just Christmas ones, either!! But, my favorite tradition is writing out and sending Christmas cards. Have to go to P.O. to get the Christmas stamps each year!! I always bought stickers, had a few different colored ink pens, Christmas stationary to write a short note and enclose it in the card, and a few boxes to pick different ones for different people on my Christmas card register!! This was neat seeing you use the wrap from DT to make things!! Have to get the tape runner and refill, too. Tysmfs!!
I do send out Christmas cards. We have family in the Northeast, California, and sprinkled across the South. I look forward to hand addressing the envelopes and placing fun Christmas stamps every year. BTW love all of your videos. You are the sweetest!
I love sending out cards. 😮Since the post office doesn’t have Christmas or Winter ones during summer months I put-extra money in my Address Book so I can buy what I need when needed
I don't do much at all for Christmas, but I do send Christmas cards. I try to find some I really like, then I get pre-made Christmas address labels, stickers and Christmas stamps. I try to send at least 100 each year. One year, I got an award from the governor of Alabama for sending more "Any ServicePerson" letters than anyone in the state. I think I sent 600 that year. I am disabled and on disability, so I can't afford as many stamps as I would like to send cards, but I do the best I can with what I've got.
I'm a Navy wife & I want to THANK YOU for sending these letters to a "service member", I send out personalized stockings for my husband's department for his single coworkers & they love ANYTHING from anyone!!! cookies, games, candy.🎁🎄🫡
@@melissamcgrath7599 One time I was writing to a young man stationed in Bosnia. He was very young and was missing his mama, his girlfriend and even complained that the toilet paper they had was like sandpaper. They all missed their TV shows. They had a TV and a VCR but only one movie which they just watched over and over. They were being shot at daily. I got a giant box and got the biggest package of Charmin with aloe, set my VCR (this was a long time ago!) and taped 6 hours of TV every night on VHS tapes....about 20 of those, plus cookies, rice krispies treats, etc, One night he called me from Bosnia and during our conversation, he yelled out, "Hey guys! I'm talking to the woman who sent us the Charmin! And I got loud "Hurray"s, really loud cheers. It was great! I will never forget that phone call.
We do send out Christmas cards! We get professional photos taken in the summer or fall, and order the photo cards. I know how much I enjoy receiving cards and seeing families grow over the years, and it is a tradition I intend to uphold as long as possible.
I belong to a Christmas card exchange and every year I mail out about 50 cards and used to receive about the same back. Now I get more e-cards the mailed cards, I’m thinking of quitting the exchange next year. I loved getting the snail mail cards…not so much the e-cards 😢
i totally agree with you on this! like what’s the point of the ecard
Well that’s a bummer because it sounds wonderful to receive so many Christmas cards ❤️
Spent the last 30+ yrs sending out between 80-100 Christmas cards. Then about 8 or 9yrs ago, noticed we didn't receive 1 back, or even an acknowledgement! Not even from any of our adult children, that we are close to! That's when we decided "Why bother?" I miss getting Christmas cards😢
I love choosing and sending nice Christmas cards but seems to not be as popular with the younger generations enjoyed watching your videos some great makes Best Wishes from Scotland 🏴😊
I love sending and receiving Christmas cards!
That is just awesome. Don't ever stop
Sounds fun and like an excellent outlet for creativity

Shanon I loved everything you made tonight. Wonderful ideas!

I absolutely still send Christmas cards. Not as many as in years past, but I love sending & receiving cards.
A scrap o fabric works well for the mason jar. You can even put the metal ring back on to hold it in place.
I still send cards in the mail, but not nearly as many as I used to! ❤ Thanks for all the clever ideas!
We still send out 60 cards every single Christmas. My husband is one of 13 kids(there are 52 grand/great grand kids)..so he has a huge family and they live in AZ ans UT and we live in VA. I send approx. 100 homemade cards every year.
A couple of tips;
On the jar...Tie the ribbon/ paper to the band part of the jar- not below to the neck of the jar. This way you can take the lid on and off without disturbing the paper.
For the Xyron... I notice you burnished from the front but if you also burnish from the back, you get more of the adhesive.

And it can also be used as a two sided tag if you choose a contrasting cardstock.
I love getting Christmas cards!!! So I send as many as I can!!! 30 - 35 seems to be the number this year! Make some of them with cards from previous years!!! Great ideas, Shannon ❤😊
Yes I love mailing out Christmas cards the old fashion way at the post office
I also still send out cards. Been doing it my whole life. Love doing it.💜🌲💜
I still send out cards in the mail. I actually just ordered my photo cards to send out. I usually attach a letter summarizing our year. I love seeing how my out of town friends kids grow each year!
Love these so much..I always mail Christmas cards out.. take care
Great ideas. Going to use the curly paper in clear ornaments with cricut cut names on them for gift tags on presents. Thanks
Yes, I still send out Christmas cards. Traditions are important to keep.
❤ What great ideas! I love the gift tags, definitely going to make those! The bows are so cute! And I LOVE! LOVE! LOVE the banner!
Lovely , ideas. Especially the Gnomes ornaments and picture with the dear.
I use the Dollar Tree Christmas gift wrap for the bottom of my parrot’s cage under the wire but on top of the tray, which gives her cage some festive decoration! She doesn’t know the difference but it’s pretty cute. I just cut a stack, one for each day of the month of December. ❤🦜
such a cute idea 🤗
What amazing ideas. So very creative and easy to make. Gotta head on over to Dollar Tree !!
I would use double-sided wrapping paper for the paper in the ornaments. 😊
❤ Love all of these ideas on using gift wrap! Thank you so much for sharing you ideas!!!

❤
Tysmfs!!
❤
Yes, still send out Christmas cards through mail and love receiving them to hang around our kitchen entryway.
Shannon, you're so full ....
Of great ideas!!
Thank you!❤
I do send out Christmas cards.
I like the sticker maker you used. Clever ideas. Thank you
Absolutely, we send Christmas cards! 🎄 It just isn't Christmas until we send and receive some.
❤❤❤ Such cute ideas! Thanks! ❤️❤️❤️
LOVE the wrapping paper bow hack!! GENIUS!
I got a giant box and got the biggest package of Charmin with aloe, set my VCR (this was a long time ago!) and taped 6 hours of TV every night on VHS tapes....about 20 of those, plus cookies, rice krispies treats, etc,
One night he called me from Bosnia and during our conversation, he yelled out, "Hey guys! I'm talking to the woman who sent us the Charmin! And I got loud "Hurray"s, really loud cheers. It was great! I will never forget that phone call.
❤Lots of fun ideas!
We do send out Christmas cards! We get professional photos taken in the summer or fall, and order the photo cards. I know how much I enjoy receiving cards and seeing families grow over the years, and it is a tradition I intend to uphold as long as possible.
Love your videos! Great ideas with crafting with wrapping paper! I especially liked the wrapping paper bows. Thank you and Merry Christmas!
