I wonder if they cleaned all the lyrics he wrote off the walls in that hotel room. If I was manager of the hotel, I'd keep it and charge extra for that room.
Brent, you rock. You are an amazing guy and you are actually a singer that writes their songs, not a person who gets songs wrote for them. Keep on rockin'.
My 2 yeare old loves this song/video, i never knew a 2 year old could be a rock fan, but if it isn't hard enough, he says, "no, no rock." to bad he said that on the if you only knew vid. :(
just an fyi to the people bashing him for talking about his way of writing... the only remaining original members are him and the drummer...every legit band has a leader for a musical direction, or else everything will go haywire, not to mention how long it would take for everyone to agree on every little input...having seen them live, they sound incredible and they are a tight band...the job they do is more than satisfactory and they've earned their spot in music history imo
Sound of Madness is a masterpiece in my opinion it kicks ass from start to finish.Best album of this millenium and i like it at the start of the title track Brent says Hold on here we go. Great guitar great vocals its going to be hard 4 the Shinedown boys to match this
As much as I love "devour" and "the Sound of Madness" "call Me" is by far the best song on the whole album, for me it ranks at the top with "Burning Bright"
I bought this album for my six year old because he was digging metallica a lot. I think this song is the most important one in the album, (he just likes the music). such a good message for passive folks who will inevitably deal with the hard knocks the colder of society will lay on them. DONT BE A VICTIM. YOU HAVE SO MUCH WORTH.
Still my favourite album by them, and one of my favourite albums by anyone. From the opening build up to Devour ti the perfect perfect beautiful final chime of Call Me, I think this is their masterpiece.
YA ...what pgbruiser said X 1000 I've been a huge fan since the first time I heard Shine down back in 07 or whatever, great lyrics...amazing vocals...driving guitars and drums. LUUVE IT !!!!!
I agree with you, Dunsedog. The song that actually got me into being a Shinedown fan was "I Dare You" back in 2006. The first time I heard it was for WrestleMania 22, and I immediately loved it. Personally, out of all of Shinedown's songs that I've heard, "I Dare You" and "Sound of Madness" are my personal favorites, followed by ".45" and "The Crow and the Butterfly".
I sure do, I have 3 of their CDs, this is one of my favorite songs off them, but their first album was the best, 45, Burning Bright, Fly From The Inside, In Memory, all good
His hair grows beautifully.. I think it suits him fine.I also think some people shouldn't project their fear of balding onto others who have naturally nice hair.(jokukurko)no offense
That's fine if you discover a band through a certain song, I was just ranting that some people call themselves Shinedown fans, even though they have only heard or only like one song of theirs :) Good to see a range of taste here aswell. I also like a lot of death metal :)
I can agree in a way Devour is what it is its an attempt at a speed song Madness is badass but I do like Devour as well SoM is overall the perfect album IMO
Funnily enough what got me into them was their first album, although the time I discovered them was after their third album had been released, so I'm in a weird situation. I do like their third album, but Second Chance never struck as a stand out song, but then again I am not an emo. Just to ask what is your favourite song.
Well, let it be known t, Ibelive that your dreams have come true. This cd will still be in every car of this genertaion, because every were I look, The album is plastered to fit the way people think. That sounded really corny, big time, but in my oppinion, and my band's oppinion, is that the album fits the deffinition of this generation. At times like these, there are teens living without fathers, and supporting their families at 16, and the album fits the way the they feel about that. Intense.
Honestly, you cant really judge music, because people label it with so many labels it could be anything. I mean to people, Shinedown could be Alternative, Rock, Pop to some extent, Hard Rock, Metal. There are so many labels nowadays that the music kinda loses the meaning, and all the people listening to it just say they want to listen to "industrial Nu-metal" or "extreme heavy grindcore". To me stuff like that makes no sense. I still say Shinedown are a good rock solid Rock band
dude, if u keep singing after the song it means it's good, and it's stuck in your head which takes talent or an annoying song, and they definatly aren't annoying, so there you go.
Can explain the video to me. I thought the guy on the phone at the beginning was the girls dad, but then the black dude shoots him. I'm kind of confused now.
No of course not. People are allowed to only like one Shinedown song if they like. I just meant that I don't like the people that only like one song, but then call themselves 'huge Shinedown fans' or whatever.
Deamonhead202@ I think the same thing I'm 13 and I hate the crap that's out now it isn't music they r I love shinedown my parents said 4 my 16th bday I can go out of the country with them I just said no thank u I want to go to a shinedown concert ( I have never been to a concert in my life so far)
I think it is a "8mm" kinda reference. The kid was kidnapped and probably used as a sex slave, then the black version of Nick Cage comes and saves her, which is alot happier ending than the real "8mm" : /
know wonder he left after us and them their guitarist quit and bassist. Us and them was such a let down after leave a whisper. leave a whisper is still their greatest album yet but the sound of madness blows us and them out of the water they got back to what made them great
whoever can't stand brent, barry, or shinedown as a whole really need their eyes gouged out w/ a carrot peeler, w/ sound of madness cranked way up in the background.
I bought this album for my six year old because he was digging metallica a lot. ❤ It's amazing how far this band has come over the years and they keep going like it was day one
brent has one of the most amazing voices of any human i have ever heard. awesome band. been a fan since day 1
Just saw them in New Orleans last night and its safe to say his voice is one of the best I have heard live.
"Your Pain is a Gift" -- I am in love with this album..and Shinedown, especially Brent!
I don't make very many post, but all I have to say is that this S.O.B. can sing like nobody else can. ShInEdOwN RoCkS!!
I wonder if they cleaned all the lyrics he wrote off the walls in that hotel room. If I was manager of the hotel, I'd keep it and charge extra for that room.
Shinedown is incredible, enough said. I love their music, it's just so great.
Brent, you rock. You are an amazing guy and you are actually a singer that writes their songs, not a person who gets songs wrote for them. Keep on rockin'.
💖🎶🎤🌟
I will never lose respect for this man, or this band.
My 2 yeare old loves this song/video, i never knew a 2 year old could be a rock fan, but if it isn't hard enough, he says, "no, no rock."
to bad he said that on the if you only knew vid. :(
Best of the Best, will go down in history!!!Awsome..
I love Brent Smith soooo much. His lyrics make me feel like one with him when im listening to the band
Brent Smith is the most amazing singer in the past decade.
just an fyi to the people bashing him for talking about his way of writing... the only remaining original members are him and the drummer...every legit band has a leader for a musical direction, or else everything will go haywire, not to mention how long it would take for everyone to agree on every little input...having seen them live, they sound incredible and they are a tight band...the job they do is more than satisfactory and they've earned their spot in music history imo

Sound of Madness is one of my favorite Shinedown songs
Stellar record. Some of that material is my life in song.
Sound of Madness is a masterpiece in my opinion it kicks ass from start to finish.Best album of this millenium and i like it at the start of the title track Brent says Hold on here we go. Great guitar great vocals its going to be hard 4 the Shinedown boys to match this

brent smith - one of the best voices in rock!!!!!

Great album but I think Us and them is their best album.
YA ...what pgbruiser said X 1000

those three extra songs are amazing
Son of Sam is a beast

Like a year ago. lol It's a great album. Highly recommeded.
@MrHaloGuy1000 thats how you know hes truely an artist. his voice isnt as limited as most, its unexpected.
I'm actually in love with Brent Smith...
His hair grows beautifully.. I think it suits him fine.I also think some people shouldn't project their fear of balding onto others who have naturally nice hair.(jokukurko)no offense
dude he doesnt sound like a jerk like a lot of the good rockest are out their he seems down to earth and cool
I agree with you 100%. Suddenly everyone who has heard Second Chance is a Shinedown fan. Makes me sick.
an album that needed to be made....my thoughts exactly
That's fine if you discover a band through a certain song, I was just ranting that some people call themselves Shinedown fans, even though they have only heard or only like one song of theirs :)

Best Shinedown album
writing on the walls should be the new hit single
Hell yesz!!!
Funnily enough what got me into them was their first album, although the time I discovered them was after their third album had been released, so I'm in a weird situation. I do like their third album, but Second Chance never struck as a stand out song, but then again I am not an emo. Just to ask what is your favourite song.

No of course not. People are allowed to only like one Shinedown song if they like. I just meant that I don't like the people that only like one song, but then call themselves 'huge Shinedown fans' or whatever.
how old is this dude?
since this was posted 8 months ago, i'm gonna give you some advice. go listen to the new album. THEN tell me if he's "aging"
yeah but i like sound of madness more but i do have to agree that us and them was a lil let down. but there are some good songs on that cd as well
sapphireflow and for the people wondering brent is 31
@pgbruiser What a lovely name he has Brent.....:)
@Drizzto77 Absoultly.
Drugs will do that! Thank you for getting clean. Proud of you!!
Your right he does look like ozzy, but equally AWSOME
The evil genius speaks! Yummo! Grrrrr
@greendrywall Are you serious? I think he looks normal.
I think it is a "8mm" kinda reference. The kid was kidnapped and probably used as a sex slave, then the black version of Nick Cage comes and saves her, which is alot happier ending than the real "8mm" : /
Writing on the walls, flight of ideas...yea that's mental illness but some of the best music and art comes from mental illness.
wtf happened to the old guitarist and bassist???
@nukedropper96
sorry-hit the wrong one-thumbs up on your comment
Brent looks a little like Ozzy Osbourne
know wonder he left after us and them their guitarist quit and bassist. Us and them was such a let down after leave a whisper. leave a whisper is still their greatest album yet but the sound of madness blows us and them out of the water they got back to what made them great
None of their albums are letdowns, merely different dimensions of depth, if you will.
whenever i listen to this song all i get from it, is them bashing people with bipolar like they are downplaying it, when its a very serious condition.
so if you listen to one song and you like it what does that make you, a poser?
ozzy
i love the riff. but man he looks like an old woman with those glasses on
@godsmackfan1 devour sucks. Madness is the best song by far
B L Devour is a Good Song
Totally disagree with you.
buy of course this isn't metal...more rock
whoever can't stand brent, barry, or shinedown as a whole really need their eyes gouged out w/ a carrot peeler, w/ sound of madness cranked way up in the background.
sorry but it sucks... he has a wonderful vioce just wish he's use it difrently..
I bought this album for my six year old because he was digging metallica a lot.
