I walked into a tent at a festival called Tribal Gathering in the late 90s and they were playing and I thought I was imagining what was going on up on the stage. Dance, Irish, African all smashed together it was awesome. The guy with the talking drum was jumping about and the crowd were loving it. There has never since been anything else quite like them.
I discovered the Afro Celts in the late 90's and my love and admiration for their unique style of music have grown and grown. Having both African and Gaelic heritage I feel well and truly part of their world! Beautiful music for the soul!
@Shay MacShay Good to read your comment. I had forgotten about this comment, just goes to show how our voices can reverberate through the years if we apply them to our specific interests or passions.
I have loved Afro Celt since the 90s and you know what nobody else has come up with a sound so unique and wonderful in all that time. True "World Musicians"!
Saw them live last year. Over the years, I`ve seen many bands at festivals.Every now and then, one stands out as being in a different league...and all there recognise it. Afro Celt Sound System were one such band..along with Alabama 3 at the same venue...that you cannot truly appreciate until you`re THERE. The performance...like art..simply speaks for itself, whatever the genre or setting. Its the synergy of spirit, energy, skill, the crowd, virtuosity, chemistry, the music...and....um...feck knows. Just go see them.... :)...stick it on your bucket list.
I was about to like this comment then I noticed it was my own comment from 5 years ago. So yeah..still chilin and groovingand coming back to this... :)
I did voices on the game. :) I got to be a wizard. I also got to see the people working on the amazing models. It was the first time i had seen that kind of work environment. The 90s was a few years ago now, but I still a few solid memries of that.
Wunderfull elements with celtic music, mixed with the interesting sounded different cultures. I love it, it makes happy! Let us enjoy live at these beautyfull sounds. Best wishes from germany at hamburg from Maureen.
For anyone who's read the _Dune_ series... This music, especially the Celtic pipes in the beginning followed by the emptiness and primal beat, is a perfect melodic representation of The Scattering after the death of The Tyrant. The burst of bagpipe sound is like the yoke of oppression being lifted from humanity after 3500 years of tyranny, only to emerge into a vast, empty universe with only ourselves as a guide...
fantastic ~ I saw their show at the crystal ballroom pdx in the early 2000s ~ transformative ~ life changing ~ charge ~ thank you your presentation is wonderful just like being there ~
Big load of positive energy... I discovered them absolutely randomly about 15 years ago. Went to music shop and took to my hand one of their album then looked on the cover and told to myself that cd must be good :)

Oh yeah, started slow, that's how you load the cannons of passion. It gets you achin'. And that crazy flute over the top of the swollen ache, like a finger nail across the hot spot. Sharp and ah! The drums like my poundin' heart. I only inhales. In and in. Dancin' sets my crazy free! And what a great discovery ... FUSION going back to them black ... the only white people who seem truly INDIGENOUS and I mean the Irish, meeting what I believe were the FIRST of the FIRST peoples! It's like rolling down the mountain inside a padded leather marshmallow.
Anyone have this album lossless? I'm restoring Magic & Mayhem game, fix errors and add update 1.1 to original iso but the audio is crap, is bad ripped and has a hiss sound.
New for 2016..... Live performance DVD at Woodstock festival 2015 and of course, Born... the new album. visit www.afroceltsoundsystem.com for official news and events.

Id say almost half of my love for the awesome game that was Magic & Mayhem came from the incredible atmosphere this music gave it :)
