I was a very young man at the time and now I'm just a little older. In early 2020 before all the WHO flu nonsense took place we went to Clairborne Farm to visit his grave as well as other racing greats. He was the best.
I watched his races on tv this horse was nothing he couldn't open 20 or 25 lengths on world class fields in any other races except one. Don't ask what the time was ask how many lengths could this horse distance the field in all his races?
True champion. Tragic that the one who cared for him best, his groom Eddie Sweat, died penniless. That's shameful. Secretariat was lucky to have him and vice versa.

Big Red on the NY Race Circuit..My father died young at 43, but he would have given Eddie Sweat a few bucks. My Close lifelong "Brothers" The Rich Boys from Saratoga have Secretariats Training Saddle. Turcotte gifted it to them. I had the pleasure of galloping a few horses on the Rich Farm.on it..What an honor...How lucky was I...Hanging around Turcotte, Maple, Great Memories..Matt Mad Dog Sweeney
Daylight like winning the Derby & Preakness by 2 1/2 over Sham, with 8 lengths back to the third horse? Daylight like winning the Belmont Stakes by 31 lengths ... the Marlboro Cup by 3 1/2 ... the Man o' War by 5. Okey dokey!

One race doesn't make a horse all those other races he couldn't open daylight on the field meaning all his track records are bogus to this day.
