Just picked up this saw, tomorrow it goes back. Haven't even plugged it in, from the front of the knob on the front of the saw to the back of the slide bars you will need about 41", yes, that's correct. It doesn't fit where I need it to be. This sucks.
I don't get why thats a problem I for one need the long reach of the slide bars. If its a storage problem you can twist the front knob off and save 4in or better yet you the saw to craft a bigger shelf.
@@beardhut2934 Apparently I failed to explain something. My bench is 24" wide, this miter saw is 41" front to back. I have a small shop with a table saw directly across from the work bench. In other words, the knob on the front sticks out about 17" into the area where the table saw is.
I hear that about the size. My garage is only 10ft wide and 16 feet long. I have a small car and its a tight squeeze trying to get the car in there..so im setting up my shop. Right now I have to angle the stand in the middle of the space! No room for moving in wood. Have to juggle things around but thats ok. I'll figure something out.
I'll second what you said about moving the fence if you are changing the angle. I forgot to and my blade hit the fence, the saw kicked back and the blade jammed into a metal piece. Luckily, I was still within my warranty so I brought I back and they gave me a new one. Was completely my fault. Saw works great. My only problem now is that I am working a bit slower than before because I am afraid of having another accident, one that might be worse. Just going to take me some time to get used to it again. Good news though, I always check the fence before I cut now lol
@Cjango Freeman OMG its not a how too on cabinet repairs.But yes you'r right! Covering cabinet damage with trim is the faster, cheeper way and happens to looks far more finished at the end of the day.
I made that shaky table, I trust it with my life! Yeah This video was not shot were I'm working right now. This saw will be tied down to a wooden work bench on site. Thanks for noticing how scared I was lol
I’ve had mine for like a year and it’s amazing. People in the beginning only wanted to say how it was garbage and they wouldn’t trust it because it’s from HF. Well, now there are tons of pros who swear by the Hercules saw. It’s a winner.
Yeah I did not know how people can be so fixed on one brand. I'm always looking for better and this saw is still working fine. Glad to see you'r willing to risk trying something new, glad its still holding up well for you.
I think I finally decided on this saw lol. I just have a single bevel 10-in right now and I need to upgrade. I'm kind of down to the admiral 12-in, metabo 10-in sliders and this Hercules 12-in slider. this one just has so many features and positives that I'm going to go for it. it's the only way I know of to get the Shadow cut line for $320. that coupon expires tomorrow so here we go...
Yeah I was amazed at the hatred for this without giving a try or chance, I was looking at the DWS780 then this came out so waited and watched. Went with this and I am impressed and happy with my purchase, cuts were accurate out of gate and remained accurate. I heard people say that this is loud but I find it rather quiet. This thing has some power to it and haven't faced anything that has given it a challenge but I need to do some PT 4x4s in the spring so I guess we'll see. I got it on sale and went with the 2 year service plan so for less than $400 I got a similar saw to the DWS780 with a better warranty for $200 less or 2/3 the cost. Enjoy your red or yellow saws, I'm very happy with my blue

What do you as lubricant for your slides?
On my saw's I have always used a synthetic car wax. Put it on and buff it off; keeps the rust off of the bars and keeps them slick.
