I started selling on eBay in '99 and it has been my "full time job" since 2003. I have used "eBay Seller" on home loan applications, which elicited more interest and respect than derision. Most people think it's pretty cool that you can pull off a living while selling crap on eBay. And like you said, most people don't really understand what a business on eBay entails, they just think that a person making a full time living off of selling stuff is a good way to make a living.

I transitioned from clothing to collectibles which dramatically increased my profits big time.
I still sell clothing as fillers but they are all high end sought after apparel.
Collectible Knick knacks are cheap to ship (unless they are heavier items)and this particular area will never die out in which clothing tends to fluctuate.
Plus it’s so time consuming to list clothing.

Absolutely a series reselling with personal debt. It would help folks who had to rebuild their lives after becoming so ill during the Pandemic and having to go into 1,000’s worth of debt with the combination of illnesses and being forced to shut down a business. This guy I would trust .Some people who make videos about making money online are charlatans.I just subscribed to this guy and will give him a good listen.
I had a small book stand near Times SQ ,NYC for 30 years and met ALL kinds of people .Made a living but I'm getting older now and would like to sell online.Sold a few books online already just to get a bit of practice in and did ok but I believe e bay is saturated with generic books.Or generic ANYTHING , probably.

I'm going through the changes now I lost weight eating better I just started working out and broke some habits that were eating my time. I've more than doubled my weekly listings and I'm picking up the daily habit of listing 5 a day besides my already habit of posting on weekends I also changed work shift to help. I'm checking fall through rates more on items to make sure I picked items that sell and finding new categories suppliers. I like items that are multi-lot, hot items and ones with a good chunk gain per item. I also lot up older items to move on and keep it fresh more. And so far so good my sales are not great vs number of items however newer ones are having better results and I recognize many of my past mistakes and im getting more focused and getting quicker at listing and seven finding good items. I used a rack system now switching and adding box cube storage. I actually built inventory over a year plus when my job got intrusive after covid eating up my time I should have quit. Now that I have more time I will switch to part time or just selling again if need be. I still don't see how you can list so much so fast but I've more than doubled my speed and it's still getting easier. Great stuff thanks.

If ideal inventory is to post 30 a day in order to get traffic, then how on earth does a small seller sell 30 items if they only have 3 to 500 items in their store. I’m not buying anymore until I can figure this out. Or is this something I would learn on your Patreon?

I recently graduated the eBay protrader programme & later became a focused seller, the category manager at eBay HQ told me that relisting (via sell similar) is important on stagnant listings.
    - eBay categorise stagnant listings as over 3 months old with no sales history!
Worth noting as this changed my perspective on the whole delist relist thing which I assumed was pointless for a long time.

It also has really helped my sales currently since there is so much new stock coming in. Last Q4 I sold so much I was down in active listings for months before I recovered back to preQ4 active listings number, so mindset is get as much listed between now and then so my profit for Q4 this year will be crazy.

Due to being disabled and disability income limits on self emplolyed being a lot less than allowed for working part time as an employee I can only open my eBay store for sales one to two days a month. Oddly, even with that I manage $100 a day profit during that short period more or less. Kind of stinks because I need to sell almost all my personal belongings due to having had to sell my house waiting 27 months to get disability and I can't do so without fear of losing my disability income if the government refuses to recognize personal property sales as such.

This may be a really dumb question, but does "free returns" mean that I would pay the shipping cost for the customer to return the item?

Buyer requested return cause bag is too small EVEN w/3 pics clearly showing width, height and depth. So yes, I have to refund purchase $ + ship to buyer and provide $ label for ship back, right? I will prolly refund and say keep item cause it makes me so mad to open return, relist, etc.

I didn’t finish. You just explain it in the most melloncally grey way. That’s you. Most people sell items they are passionate about. Antiques, mid century collectibles. Antique tools. You might feel that way but unless you walk in another persons shoes…

I disagree about ending and selling similar. Of course you still need to list fresh items daily but you also should be ending and selling similar daily as well. If you let your items chill for 30 days and then automatically get renewed you are ngmi imo.

Hi Chris and comment people - do you price where you want to sell or do you price up to leave room for sales, coupons and lowball offers?
Thinking of pricing at the lowest lowball Id accept to make $10 profit on each item but I feel the lowballs will hit a new low where I can't maintain the profit margins

    • @BenVanCamp
      @BenVanCamp 2 роки тому +4

I just price at top of the market for sold, then markdown and accept offers. Sometimes its worth it to make a quick 5$ rather than wait 2 months for 10 as well. Over time the it is more profitable.

Instead of going to church I'm going to list? Sounds like the quickest way to a low quality life to me. 😂😂I actually make very good money through running a consultancy but I also sell on ebay for a hobby. I have learned so much about my specialty (books) over the years and have sold some for very good money. What I make will never match my business earnings but there's an educational element to selling that's really stimulating.
