  • This is my second solo camping trip and the first time this year I brought out the Takibi Tarp, expecting heavy rain in the forecast. Despite the 100% prediction, I endured a mere sprinkle at most. Nevertheless, the heavy fog and gloomy conditions made for some pretty incredible scenery!

    Great video. I have the exact same tent / tarp. I haven't had a chance to use the tent yet as it just came in the mail a couple of weeks ago. I love the tarp. Watching this video got me excited for my next trip!

      Thank you! It's a great setup, especially for this time of the year. It was actually my first time using the amenity dome and it's a really nice tent. Hope you have a great trip out there!

    Great video and looks like a great trip! I just got a bunch more Snow Peak gear recently and will be testing it out in a week or so for 4 nights out on the Peninsula too. Hopefully the weather cooperates well enough :)

      Thank you! I'm using a Panasonic Lumix S5. I think in this video it was with the kit lens, but i've upgraded to the S Pro 24-70.

    Hi Ryan, Thanks for another nicely put together video. It is so much fun to watch you use the gear. You remind me that even one night out is enough to sooth the soul. Quick question: which tent heater are you using? I can tolerate cold but would be nice to have a bit of relief. Thanks so much!

      Hey, thank you so much! I’ve been using the Kovea Cupid Heater lately before bed and in the morning. We used to not use any heaters, but once we started it’s hard to go back now. So nice to hear from you!

    Hey Ryan, love your video as always. What's your thoughts on the Amenity Dome S and the Alpha Breeze for solo camping? Did you feel that the Alpha Breeze was too large for solo camping, so you decided to take out the Amenity Dome S instead? Thanks!

    • @rtmadani
      @rtmadani  7 місяців тому +1

      Hey, thank you so much! I think for overnight trips, going with a more compact setup is my preference. For this trip, I only used the tent to sleep in, so having the extra space wasn't really necessary. However, for longer stays, or times where I plan on spending more time inside, it's nice to have a larger tent like the Alpha Breeze.
      I will say, the front porch area is a bit low for sitting under, unless you had a backpacking chair or ground seat. In this case, I had the tarp anyway, but last time I went solo camping, I exclusively used the Alpha Breeze's front covered porch and left the tarp at home.

  • @sehoonkim2131
    @sehoonkim2131 7 місяців тому +1

    You should really consider getting a larger tarp like the evo, since you are not restricted by pitching space
    That way you can stick your shelter entrance under the tarp flap and still have plenty enough room under

    • @rtmadani
      @rtmadani  7 місяців тому

      I got an Evo Pro recently but haven’t shown it on here yet. I agree though, if you have the space it’s an incredible tarp.

    Hi Ryan! Out of curiosity when you cook in your takibi do you use the coal bed. And also I can’t tell if you’re using the base plate stand. With the table and the base plate if you’re using it does the takibi still warm you? Thanks for the awesome videos!

    • @rtmadani
      @rtmadani  5 місяців тому

      Hey, the coal bed would be nice for cooking, but I don't have one yet. I almost always use the base plate with it, I like that it lifts it off the ground and catches any burning coals that could fall through. It's very warm even with the Jikaro table. It's a pretty slim table, but it offers ample space to dine around and I think it's the ideal distance from the fire. Thank you for the support!

    Nice video, thanks. You have an interesting little heater. Do you mind saying who the manufacture and model is? My experience has been that the Mr. Heaters' are a little overkill for my 10' x 10' canvas tent. I live in Northern CA. and I do not do any cold weather winter camping. Thanks

    • @mrhowardism
      @mrhowardism 7 місяців тому

      Oops, I just read your answer below to the same heater question.

    • @rtmadani
      @rtmadani  7 місяців тому

      Yeah the Mr Heaters put out quite a bit more heat. For smaller tents though, this one’s been pretty efficient and has made mornings and nights much more tolerable this time of the year.

  • @isoplayers
    @isoplayers 7 місяців тому +1

    Not sure if you mentioned it in the video, but where was this roughly? Did you need to reserve the campsite? I wish northeast had more places like this where I could just drive there, set up a tent and chill without many people.

    • @rtmadani
      @rtmadani  7 місяців тому +5

      It's a HipCamp, basically airbnb for campsites. It's pretty much the only way I reserve sites except for when we go dispersed camping. You have to search quite a bit on the site to find a good one since many are setup like overcrowded campgrounds, but some listings offer 100s of acres to yourself.
