I like this game. Did you know this is the only hugo game which has two options for english speakers? There are american and british english. I've played both of them and they say exactly the same xD. But I like american dubbing more even if I speak british english. I liked your hugo reviews for ps1. Will you continue with ps2 hugo games?
Haha, out of all the platformer Hugo games it's the best one by quite a degree so I can see why you would like this one out of all the others! Yeah, I found that out while I was doing a bit of research about it for the review, but I didn't mention it because I don't have access to the American dub! I think I sway towards liking the British English version just because I just got used to their voices being like that over the course of several games! Thanks for watching them! I never expected to make this many Hugo reviews back when I did the first one haha! As for the PS2 Hugo games... I probably will end up covering them at some point, but not for a while. If I was to review the PS2 games, I would make sure I cover every single one on the console, just like I did with the PS1 series, so it would be pretty in depth!
I decided to replay the game on PC and i noticed some differences. I didnt clip through a single wall, and I didnt expierence the invisible wall glitch. PC version also had a newer intro. Maybe PC version was more polished? It seems that every single PC hugo game is better than PS1 ones.
The wall clipping only happened in the first level and I noticed it a lot when I tried to do the time trials more than anything (particularly in the 2D sections). That invisible wall glitch is insane... I can't believe that was left in the final version of the game! But yeah, I imagine the PC versions are more polished, maybe they came out slightly after the PS1 versions or maybe they were updated/patched after launch, I'm not sure. The PC versions probably have slightly better graphics too so it might be the superior way of playing the games. I just stuck with the PS1 versions because I happened to have the first one on PS1 haha! It would be interesting to see the updated intro though, is that on UA-cam?
Oh, you didnt understand me. I meant new ITE intro. So it proves that PC version was released later. Did you find the developer video on youtube? Its really bad quality, i could upload it in better quality.
Oooh, I see what you mean, I was thinking you meant an entirely new intro cinematic! Yeah I watched a little bit of it but the quality was quite bad! You could upload it, people would probably be interested in it!

You pointed out every flaw in this game that i found by playing it myself. Talking about voice acting, the game was completely re-dubbed for american release in 2005(?). There is a video on youtube by GWKTM who compared it. There is also a developer commentary made for PC version (found in game files) and its on youtube as well. I decided to dig into PC version game files and i found some interesting stuff. For example, when you game over, hugo supposed to say "Trollerit, Trollerat, Trollerut, this game is kaput" I also found some insulting game overs said by Trollerat which were removed before releasing the game. In the game code, Hugo the evil mirror is referred as Hugo 5, which is strange because there are 6 hugo games on PS1, so Hugo Frog Fighter is not counted i guess. Awesome review! Looking for more your content in the future
Yeah, it's quite a flawed game but it does show a little bit of promise throughout. It's just a shame they couldn't fine tune everything to make it flow a bit better. I actually did watch that! Quite interesting to see the cutscenes with different voice acting. I'm not sure which version I prefer though, I sort of like the bad European voices (although they aren't actually as bad in this game as with the previous ones). I didn't know about the developer commentary though! That's really interesting, I'll have to look that up and give that a watch! That's amazing, it's a shame he didn't say that in the final game, it would have been a nice throwback to the first PS1 game on top of him saying "don't be slow, I'm ready to go"! It's sort of a shame that they removed the insults, that might have given the kids more individual personalities rather than pretty much being blank slates. That's weird... But yeah I guess they didn't count Frog Fighter with it being more of a spin off title than a main series title. It seems like theres a lot of cool information in the PC game files! Thank you! Glad you enjoyed watching! :)
