Dude a rip current took me out to sea earlier while on vacation and I thought I was a goner . Bodyboard saved my life ! I was so tired and my legs locked up me lol Please learn how to swim and stay safe out there y’all !
Very useful - I learned on a beach where the waves broke at waist height, so never learned to paddle in front. That is a note...if the water is shallow enough, jumping in front of the wave saves an awful lot of effort!
we need more channels like this, that only have what they said in the title, and little promotions of sponsors if there are any, other people make them too long putting extra detail that isn't really needed.. good channel
Most boogie boards come with a leash so yeah all you need is a board, also people are saying you need the fins to swim further out. No, it might be easier if you dont know how to swim that well but for most people you should be able to swim past the waves normally.
Thank you for this great tutorial for beginners. Very nice and clear instructions. Now, I will apply them into my first time bodyboarding :) I am very much looking forward to.
mate, it depends on if your taking bodyboarding seriously as a sport or if you are just doing if for fun and a bit of a mess around Serious: Fins ✅ For fun: Fins ❌ Fins are essential for people who do it as a sport.
I actually did everything you mentioned here and I only wiped out 5 times or so. So that's an improvement The last time though, the water was calm, and then a huge wave said "HEY THERE FRIEND" and crashed down on me :,)
Ive got all the kit apart from fins andsocks, my bodyboard cos around £30.00 and is really good for tht at price, its made by wavework, im pretty sure i can do most of the tips, bodyboarding is so easy compared to surfing!
I thank you very much for this AWESOME INSTRUCTIONS VIDEO about bodybording, no doubt it is the best toturial video about the sport in the youtube so far. Thank you, i'm a beginner, so i apreciate this tips, greetings from Portugal
@Flxckz hello! At the moment, and infortunatly no, because the lack of free time due to my work job and professional life, but Im thinking returning slowly to the sport. Thanks
@fbmbirds Fins do help, but from my experience, it's the size of the wave and your position relative to said wave that makes all the difference. You end up attributing everything to the fins, but in reality, you have likely gotten better at positioning yourself to catch the wave. In all actuality, you don't have to be going all that fast to catch a wave. Sure, surfers have bigger boards, but they don't often use fins to propel themselves. Think about it a bit. Speed is only one factor.
Oh this is exactly what I needed, a spoon-feeding tutorial for a rookie like me. I just got a Science board for my birthday and I'm in Canary Islands. Can't wait to go to the beach.
Usually boards $99 and up don't come with a board leash attached so you have to buy one separate and put it on yourself which is extremely easy there's videos online of how to do it all you have to do is choose from a bicep leash which goes on your bicep or a wrist leash based on what your comfortable with
I went bodyboarding for the first time this Monday. I also wiped out multiple times and now I’m covered in scratches on my legs, arms, and one of my thumbs. I was bleeding down my legs and they burned for a long time when I went back into the water The salt made it hurt even more. Not to mention that I swallowed a lot of salty water. Don’t regret it though 😎😌
I like surfing as much as Bodyboarding. But personally I prefer Bodyboarding because you be be a lot more creative, and there's not much you can do with a surfboard.
@Sviolinist Well i thought that also but after about 3 tries i got a pair of swim fins and they helped alot. i kinda feel like a turd when trying to walk out in the water with them on but once im out there its smooth sailing and the fins help me get around alot smoother.
what's the max height of waves that 100 500 and 900 can handle? i can't pick between 100 and 500 because i don't want my board to break, but i also don't want to slow down too much.
When I first started then I was 7 you should try to stay in water where u can just barly touch it helps and you really only need the boogie board and the rash guard also when your first starting out you don't need to make a trail just ride straight until you get the hang of it this took me a little over 2 weeks
@MKJFilmz the way you get over your fear is actually catching one, once you catch one you will notice it as fun and want to do it again more than stay in shore where its smaller
@USNKriete your most probbally sitting in the wrong spot, you want to be where the wave is steap enough ( just before it starts to break ) that it will pick you up a repel you forward. you might have to kick harder or position yourself differently on your board.
Right? I don't live *that* near a beach...two hours, so it's a new activity to me. Ordered my first board online yesterday...who knew it was so complicated if you want to attempt to get the proper type board? I'm sure one could have fun with nearly anything but another video from a pro shop said REALLY getting the right board depends on your height, weight and even the ocean conditions where you plan to be mainly using it - cold water: get a board with a certain core...warmer water: a different core material performs better. Take the tips or leave them, but people, really - get out of your bubble and try to recognize we're all in different situations, have different ability levels, etc. There's a lot of dismissive comments here and that's not making any of the "jokers" an ambassador for this activity.
U don't actually need a swimsuit thing btw. But If u don't and u only wearing shorts after your done u will notice a little rass on your stomach where your body was on the board but it will go away really quickly but it will sting a little
What is the deal with the bigger waves? In Montañitas, Ecuador, those are waves that I have not seen. The waves go towards the beach, and go back, but to the left. Any tips con weird waves?
I hate how people see bodyboarding as a 'begginer' sport or a sport for people who cant surf when bodyboarding actually takes a lot of skill like search up Shane Ackerman for example.

I did this a week ago...love it didn't have fins so i couldn't catch waves but its still a lot of fun going up and over the waves
You don't need fins lol you can literally ride waves without a board
Fins only act as assistants to help you keep up with the forming wave. Like at the end of the vid you gotta be a good swimmer as well.
does this work with ironing boards?
Yes - saw a guy do it in LA once - Bruce Culbertson
ive been walking around the beach with my ironing board under my arm for years. people always nod approvingly.
My friend tried to prove this last week. I will let you know if I hear from him.
Probably to long of a board for sponging 🧽. maybe standup if it is non porous And can float. Probably a good skim/sand board tho
we need more channels like this, that only have what they said in the title, and little promotions of sponsors if there are any, other people make them too long putting extra detail that isn't really needed.. good channel
All u need is the board tbh......
its way more fun with fins
@Mike Suzio If u wanna just have fun then i would just use a boogie board
You need flippers to get out the back to get the good waves
Benlikeswave ! Or if you can paddle really good you can standup on the boogie
Most boogie boards come with a leash so yeah all you need is a board, also people are saying you need the fins to swim further out. No, it might be easier if you dont know how to swim that well but for most people you should be able to swim past the waves normally.

Good vid. I use a wave rebel
Very clear!
"if your going to the left, grab the side of the board with your left hand and keep your right hand on the nose" are you sure?? :s

Ive heard if you paddle when you feet are out of the water you will go faster
Kicking you feet with or without fins gives way more propulsion

Also check the water quality. Don’t go in the water near a river jetti! The run off has all kinds of dirty bacteria in it.

Also, it's more easy to put your flippers on in the water where the waves are not breaking so you can get out faster. :)
