I love "Candy". there's no reason why she should apologize for it, or feel "ashamed" of it. i understand that she doesn't like it (or that full album) and she had no control over the creative process, but at the end of the day it's a catchy song and it's the song thanks to which many came to know Mandy Moore
I don’t think she had meant the song but rather that artist “Mandy” at that time and age that she was in. We all have our moments when we were teenagers where we cringe at something we did or have done or that aspect of our lives and it could be what she meant :)
I am year older than Mandy Moore and I first heard Candy in 1999 the year it debuted. Even back then I realized that song is suggestive as hell. Though the entirety of the album has got nothing on Jessica Simpson's I Wanna Love You Forever (in terms of sexual innuendo / wording). It is considered a genuine love song, and it is... for the most part. One line (which most people do not hear correctly) is damn near porn: "Pour yourself all over me and I'll cherish every drop here on my knees". o.O
She never bothered to relearn the dialogue of the song because that would require Her to watch Herself. She doesn't remember those words just the lyrics.
To everybody acting like this whole no audience thing is such a refreshing new take, the rest of us have been calling this format a "podcast" for years now.
Difference is this is actually supposed to be an audience show, that’s what makes it special, podcasts are supposed to be no audience no they’re just like this show with an audience, just meh
@@willinton06 That's the point though, people in the comments are appreciating the lack of audience because the conversation starts sounding more real. Imagine the potentially fascinating conversation these two might have if it lasted for an uninterrupted hour.
CL although that makes sense, I personally don’t expect a deep intricate debate coming from this, I want a simple comedy, this is only better than the usual format because of the novelty, it would get pretty old pretty fast
@@willinton06 I think the 6 minute clips and audiences directed to laugh are an antiquated format. People appreciate realism and genuine conversation. The podcast allows for more of that, which is why they've become so popular. I'm not saying this format is overwhelmingly bad but there's a reason why ratings continuously slip.
Exactly! so far from what I’ve seen all of these late night shows are soooo much better without all the fake laughing and cringey jokes, everybody is more down to earth
@@lintlickers Yeah, agreed. I will say though - all these shows are very very VERY produced. There's a stage producer actively signalling the audience when to laugh and when to stop. I'm sure Fallon has orders from the network heads to amp up the enthusiasm.

Mandy making amends with her "Candy" past is really comforting because I love that song. It's so nostalgic for me. It's so nice to see her grow as a person and an artist. What a great scene to show too because it had me bawling. Anything with Kevin and Rebecca has my chest aching from tears.

What a good and candid interview. She seems pure and honest. I do agree. It is really nice to just see two people talking without having to address an audience.
I dated a girl in the late 90's whose kids went to a private school in Orlando, Florida with Mandy. I didn't know who she was. I picked them up one day and they pointed her out. They told me she did the morning announcements and was very nice.
I always really loved her spirit. She has such a beautiful grace about her. Though she’s obviously matured into a lovely women, she has been able to maintain and purity and authenticity about her. Such a great role model for our young girls. 👍🏽
