To this day, this promo still has me mad at the "compu-tah" that took that person's job
Introducing AI
let's go get that "compu-tah!"
I lost my job last week to a compu-tah so that line resonates with me.
@@cHriiSzbEewouldn't even get a watch today.
Too bad he passed away 2 months before we got to see the highly anticipated Dusty vs the computah Hell in a Cubicle match at Wrestlemania
Still one of the greatest promos of all time 37 years later.
Top 3 IMO
Such a great promo. It's 10X better unedited. The last half that was cut out gives me goose bumps.
And it always will be 💯

Dusty is my 2nd favorite black wrestler
Who’s 1?
@@davidgregory2434 The Gold Standard Shelton Benjamin!
@@TrialzGTAS I agree 👍
Dusty is not black wtf lmao 😂😂😂😂
He's clear
Hard Times is for real, Dusty spoke some real shit here. Rest Well Dream 👑
"My father said, when i was younger, Hard Times breed Better Man"
This was Dustys best interview ever, straight from the heart.
He said it himself that his words were not scripted for that interview. It came straight from his heart
Dusty is the only wrestler from this era who could go toe to toe with Flair on the mic and was better. He is the best talker in wrestling history in my opinion.
On the mic absolutely. In the ring? That one goes to ricky steamboat
Wrong. Jake Roberts, Randy Savage and Arn Anderson were just as good.
@@toma.4808And Randy Savage
You foo's are forgetting about SUPERSTAR BILLY GRAHAM!!!

Rick Flair is who we wanted to be but we really were Dusty Rhodes. That’s why it popular and relatable
Hard times breed better men
Wrestling has more than one royal family
took it all away give it all away cant take my freedom ...
Dusty was not only a talented wrestler and the best talker in the business, but a prophet. The hard times he spoke of back then...we are still living in them today (and it's just getting worse)...
But hard times breed better men.
Thank you for everything, American Dream!
Rest in power!
Your spirit lives on through your son, who finally finished the story. ❤
Riveting, compelling, resonating, the truth and still very much relevant to this day. R.I.P to the American Dream.
Rest up Dusty Rhodes 💎🧑🏽✈️

Welcome to the American Nightmare 🇺🇸💀
I remember this promo. Gave me goosebumps then and now.
This speech is bigger than wrestling man just like a Marvin Gaye song we keep living in it
Who's here after Cody finished the story?
I was too young to see dusty Rhodes but I heard great stories and these promos prove how great he was
He spoke for the common man.. the blue collar workers… THE AMERICAN DREAM
Funny thing is, I always cheered for the heels, so I hated Dusty Rhodes back then. I was a teen at that time, but as I got older I grew to appreciate the American Dream, and now love seeing vids of Dusty. He had SOOOO much charisma!
Yes sir!!🇺🇸
Dusty should have been a politician. Great promo artist.
The genius thing about this is that he positioned himself as a man of the middle poor class in the Reagan era. The lisp just gives it an authenticity that is hard to describe. One of my favorites entertainers!
Plus the southern accent
Well dusty grew up like that
Dusty Rhoads "The American Dream" lives strong in my veins STILLSl.!!
Computer is gonna be AI, he predicted the future
I was not born at the right time to watch Dusty wrestle. This one promo tho, made me love and recognize the guy.
American Dream 🙌🏽
One of the top promos of all time. Dusty knew how to get the crowd on his side. Flair and the Four Horsemen knew how to draw heel heat like very few could. They were a perfect match for one another and in my opinion one could make a case for best all time feuds
.
One of the greatest promos ever!
Promo masterclass!
Quite possibly the greatest promo of all time. RIP Dusty
For real, I'm 38 years old and went through hard times as a kid
Youre just a common man working hard for the man.
The one and only true wreastler dusty love you dusty rip
A computah took your place daddeh
Man, Dusty knew how to cut a promo. Rest in Peace
Dusty knows his audience and makes himself connect with them.
“You don’t know what hard times are daddeh”
Cody, you finished his story, dusty is proud of you
Dusty preached it like it is IF YA WEIL BABY
hard times daddy!
Dusty is truly the people's champ.
Greatest speech in all the galaxies and in all the multiverse, reserve universe, paralle, left, right, upside down, from here to Galifry
Dusty predicted the ai "revolution"
All from the brilliant mind of Dusty Rhodes! If I recall, this was back in November, 1985 as I watched it when it first aired.
Dusty started it, Cody finished it!
Your boy is the WWE Universal Champ now Dusty… The entire wrestling world is proud of you and your boy.. Your boys been working hard in this business Dusty I know your proud!!
Perfect. He puts over Flair and the title, tells you why he needs to take it from him, and he explains his motivation, all the way down to the shout-out to Crockett Sr. L
I remembered when this first aired. I wanted to fight Flair after that.
Man I remember this as a kid. I was so emotionally invested in all this back then. Got to see Dusty live a few times in Richmond. Man I remember screaming my head off. When life was simpler.
Spoke for Everyman. A legend. Very inspiring Daddy
"I will repay you now!" always sends shivers down my spine.
And to this day this is the Hardest Promo still!
:Dusty rhodes has been Inducted into the African American Hall of fame!
:His son cody will follow
He is my favorite wrestler of all time and also one of my heroes. RIP Dusty Rhodes.✊🏾✊🏾😔✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Dusty Rhodes for president. Still more alive than what we have.

Best promo of all time
Unlike today, his promo’s weren’t scripted.
Dayuummm… that last part aged WELL!
"Hard Times" LEGENDARY promo!
Can’t pay the wages, can’t buy the food … hard times
38 years ago today, and the words are as true as ever
"Hard times breed better men"
Today's wrestling does not come close !!!! No one has the mic like the legendary wrestling of the past !!!!
I can't wait to see his son do what he couldn't 💕
The Bull of the Woods
"...if you will. "
God how prophetic is 80/90’s wrestling promos?.. especially from old NWA/WCW the TBS superstation days!!!
One of the best promos ever rip dusty
My Man Dusty. Realest of the Real! 💯💖
Dusty and Cody have that same lisp 😂.
Dusty could mesmerize an audience with his promos. He didn’t have to perform great in the ring. He could literally talk people into a building.
“A computer took your place that’s hard times” here we are years later and that’s still the harsh reality of it all
I wish Dusty was still around to see his sons in the Hall of Fame
when the business was real...no matter what they boo and cheer with FEELING!
Kicked in the Butt And tellem A computer Took Yo Job DADDDDYYYYY😂😂😂😂
"Rik Fleya!"
this was me talking to the neighbor this morning lol
Respect. A time when men act like men and being any other way would bring HARD TIMES.
Dusty was one of the realest talents to ever lace a pair of boots or grab a mic. And his sons are doing a tremendous job carrying on his legacy.
#godblessandrestthelegend💯
THE GREATEST WRESTLER OF ALL TIME!!! "THE DREAM BABY", "BULL OF THE WOODS", "PARTING WITH BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN"!!!!!!
It’s easy to see why they put dusty in charge of promo class at the performance center.
The King 👑 DUSTY American Dream RHODES.
Goosebumps 😮
30 years only to hear a computer took your place.....rings hard today...Salute and RIP
The most brilliant, poignant, and captivating promo I have ever heard. I was a teenager in 1985 when I heard this. It was perfectly set up by what would become the Four Horsemen breaking his leg and him returning to face his nemesis and arch rival.
_It's impressive how a 37 y/o promo can ring true on this current times....._
He’s rode with Kings and Queens and dined on Pork and beans!Son of a Plumber hard times daddy!
Wined and dined with kings and queens. Slept in an alley and feasted on pork and beans*
Crazy how this is almost a social commentary on contemporary issues of the day.
If Ric Flair gave hard times to Dusty, does that mean he breed him better men?
Hard times are when "Hey, the AI took your job daddy"
RIP DREAM ❤
As a child I didn’t understand this fully……years later it’s hard times indeed
Dusty could ran for president with that speech
Smartest man in the world.
Son of a plumber, product of high fructose corn syrup. I love Dusty. He could take and give a rib to anyone.
I’m impressed tubby lived as long as he did.
Still to this day, one of he best on the Mic
stephanie asked this legend to shut up
This guy would kill everything and everyone on the mic, the only thing he didn't kill was the business itself! 🙏🏻 #RIPDustyRhodes
The late, great Dusty Rhodes......man puts the best talkers of this modern era to shame..... his feuds with Ric Flair and The Four Horsemen are legendary..... WWE held Dusty down......gave him goofy gimmicks......but that don't tarnish his legacy, his greatness, and his selfless contributions to the world of sports entertainment......
Hard times daddy!! Finish the story, Cody!!!! 👊🏽
