Scott Henderson one of the fattest, heaviest and brightest crowns of the electric guitar, if such a thing exists. Scott is an absolute brown beast, sniper of the six strings, of pendejo already had in the crop a stratospheric technique and a doctorate in jazz, in addition to clear tendency to rock guitarist porn. He began to blow molds with Tribal Tech, Chick Corea and Zawinul. They say that theirs is a complicated character, but it remains to be seen who else can plug into the current to make some "roquitos", then get into Weather Report mode with sidereal phrasing, and end up riding a trio and firing electric shrapnel bep bop palanquita goes and comes. An issue, that of the lever, which Scott has probably abused in recent years. But, like it more or less, you can not be accused of having settled into the chair to watch the dollars fall. Its sound has been mutating towards the hallucinogenic and it is possible that one wonders, when seeing it, how it looks like a real Martian, if it comes out with ten euro shirts and does not put face or pose of orgasm. He does not hide influences because his personality has been big enough to gobble them up and push out a different, ultramodern and intimidating way of playing. Maybe their music, as a whole, has not gone that far, and maybe their skills have to be valued in circles rather guitar, but the wave is to put a bit of order in that chaos of geeks who call god any Chinese guitarist promoted by the careless magazine Rolling Stone. Already in his sixties, Scott has lowered the pace of recordings, but there is still a chance to see live how he shreds the blues and how he screams his diabolical phrases, dear guitar drones, do not miss it. They will be listening to one of the great guitarists of our time.
While I always felt that Joe Zawinul didn't need (or should have ever had) a guitar player spot in the Syndicate...Scott Henderson is the lone exception. He's the only one who actually complemented the music.
Who is that chick that sang on tore down house? Wow is that a great album and her vocals were just perfect too. I love I HATE YOU. A little x rated but it's just great
Properly rated by those who know. He's definitely "the best guitarist you've never heard". He's been next level for decades. His approach to the blues is very unique. There are enough blues tracks that don't include much if any typical blues lines. He is such an original. A lot of his stuff and phrasing is so "out there" and just freaking cool. whole lof of Jeff Beck in his playing, but I'm sure Henderson is waaaay more savvy when it comes to harmony.
I love the fact that Scott doesn't sound as though he's "practicing scales," as so many guitarists do today. Imagine an incredibly unique hybrid of Jeff Beck/Jimi/John McLaughlin/Barney Kessell on steroids! Since Allan Holdsworth's passing, IMO Scott is the absolute king.
The best on on UA-cam... no... sorry... just The Best Tone! Scott gets better and better... unlike many guitarists. He's defined his own voice, for decades now.. it's evolved and ...well enough. Plus, the best guitar improv vids ever made. No bullshit, no mystery, everything you need to know. PERIOD!
Sorry Guys, SH has been an absolute hero of mine for a LONG time. true definition of a fusion guitarist. JB, SRV and jazz lines all shaken up in His marvelous playing. WOW!!!
@ZakiAnssari - When you have a smaller group, I think it's pretty obvious that you're going to have more space to explore. Just imagine if a 75 piece orchestra were given the same kinds of improvisational freedoms as a trio... I don't think it would work out too well do you? I don't know what Joe would have said about what you mentioned but I do know that Scott was very happy to play with him. I could just as well say, "Now what would Kinsey have said to that?"
Sorry guys, but with all this technology surely we can do better than a 70 something stratocaster twanging away with cheesy distortion!!?? Check out the sonic excellence Pat Methany is coming up with nowadays. Playing excellence is only one part of the deal. That said, Scott and Kirk really are really awesome players. I just think they could do so much more with the sound. Long Live TT
Never heard anybody play electric guitar with the same visceral intensity as Scott does. Outstanding performance.
For my money, Scott is as good as they come. A true innovator.
Scott you're a Genius....!!!!!
And that's it.
Thank God no dislikes on this track...the one who will dislike this does not have a life!
What a refined genius.... :)
Awesome
Holy shit. That short lick at about 2:35 sounds like Nintendo synth. It's fast as balls.
High Five if you clapped at the end of his solo.
troppo bravi

He's just way over your head only reason he isn't more popular is he wasn't marketed like a pop musician. But he bleeds talent

@thrunobulax1 He's not playing a "70 something Stratocaster" he's playing a Suhr. Way to try and insult the guy on his own youtube page.
The album was indeed sung by a woman, though Kirk Covington does a killer job live!
God !! He is GOD! and metheny, and all the others...FUCK IM POLYTHEIST NOW!!
I feel that Henderson is underrated; his tone, originality, harmonic knowledge are second to none!

Genial solo style, Scott.

Great stuff Scott. You are a man of endless ideas. You should do a gig in Las Vegas.
Amazing player ...ritm and riff really good..

He reminds me of Jeff Beck.
