JUMME KI 2 AZAANE QU? By Mufti Qasim Zia Al Qadri
Jummah (Friday) prayers have two Azaans (calls to prayer) based on a tradition from the time of Caliph Uthman ibn Affan (RA). During his reign, as the Muslim community grew, he introduced a second Azaan before the Khutbah (sermon) to inform people that Jummah prayer was about to begin, giving them time to gather in the mosque. The first Azaan is called to alert people, while the second is called right before the Imam delivers the Khutbah, as was originally practiced during the time of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
