HUGE update for a hidden gem & giveaway
I said it in a steam review but i have to point out my absolute favourite part of this short demos branching narrative: By successfully convincing cynthia to hand you the life star without violence she wont testify against you when merdekas questioning people. And By wasting all of the dogmans paper in the block sorting/paper signing minigame he wont ever actually get your identity so he wont be able to call in the tip. This allows you to end the demo without actually ever getting a warrant out for your arrest, so you can completely skip the merdeka bossfight.
I knew there had to be a way to get the star without the bumper car fight, but I failed to do it right. The guard dog thing is really cool and I hadn't heard of that part. It really is insanely awesome to see how much those decisions influence what happens in the game
I do not know *why* the algorithm decided to finally bless me with recommendations I'd actually like to see, but I'm not complaining. Big fan of games focused on the experience, I'm curious to see how the platformer elements get integrated. That slide jump tech at least suggests hints at working in tandem with the narrative, where your choices, in the narrative or in the mechanics, are not immediately obvious.
I was a little disappointed that I figured it out AFTER I took the death on purpose because I missed out on the rest of the boss fight, but I think this game will be full of things you have to learn yourself, which I think makes total sense given the context of the game. I'm a huge fan of these types of games and always welcome anything that looks to push the bounds of traditional gaming. Luckily the Indie world is a great place to find that sort of thing since the teams working on them are given more freedom to do what they want.
I'm your 308th subscriber, hope you find success on your game development journey
Thanks! I have a lot planned, but I will be working on a game likely starting this year and probably posting some devlog stuff for anyone interested :)
Looks weird. 0/10
Definitely too strange
If somerhing is cokpliacted ro implement it will not be replicated. Thats why rhere is no Mass Effect-like genre of RPGs.
If I hadn´t seen this one first on your channel, I would have recommended it heavily to you. Existential dread combined with a mysterious story and humor peppered throughout (pun intended), that just looks like a Prozeon game :D I probably will skip this one but enjoyed your video on it, as usual!
It was perfect timing for me to find this game, but I get it won't be for everyone. Depending on when it releases and how it goes I may end up making something else for it because I do think it has some potential to be another one of those narrative games I enjoy so much
This one looks pretty unique. I think I'm going to have to check it out
It really has a lot going for it, so I'm really excited to see how much it really branches out
Looks like it could be really neat. The visuals are amazing. Shame the platforming isn't a LITTLE more involved, but it seems like that isn't the point of it.
I realized that I didn't even talk about the art but it definitely is amazing. The writing and overall idea really took me by surprise and I honestly think I probably should've given it a 9. I know the platforming is lacking, but like you said it really isn't the point
Hey Prozeon, such a good list.. many hidden gems here.. added them to my wishlist and also subscribed!! 👍😇 and yes I had never heard of a pokemon rip-off 🤣🤣🤣😂
Haha thanks :) I had a lot of fun making this list with Dorian. There's a ton of good games out there, but it is easy to miss a lot of them, so I will always try to give them a spotlight
Great list! I'm looking forward Mouse P.I. and Duck Detective 2, I still have to play the first title but it seem really fun 💪
Thanks :) Duck Detective is a lot of fun. I just wish it would be a little longer because of how much charm all the characters have.
@Prozeon I'll try it as soon as I can! After I recover from the expenses I did during autumn sales 😜
I was kinda worried that you wouldn´t put deckbuilders on the list but phew... You didn´t let me down! Great list, although most of the titles are absolutely not on my radar, which just shows the scope of the indie game genre.
I had to do a double check that it took so long for me to bring one up lol. I realized after I got done that there are even more I forgot about but I would be here all day if I kept talking about all the cool games coming up
@@Prozeon I know what you mean. My wishlist is as long as a whole book series...
"The highest potential to not reach it's potential" is a hell of a line. Super hyped for Jump Ship! Discord Game Night? Eh? Eehh?!
I mean I want it to be good, but I also know that realistically it has a higher chance of being a let down than any other on this list. And yeah I'd definitely be down for Jump Ship to be a game night game
Looks like RTS Hammerwatch
Oh nice. I hadn't heard of that game before but you are definitely right
absolutely love this game, been participating on closed alpha, really nice game
I definitely see how it appeals to people. It does do a lot right and it felt like a pretty unique experience. I ended up playing something like 5 hours in the demo when most demos in this series only last like 30-60 minutes so it definitely sunk its hooks into me for a bit. I just struggle with tough games and I don't hold that against the devs, it just isn't for me. I definitely think there's an audience for it and I hope the devs enjoy a ton of success for a cool idea.
Toads of the Bayou turned out to be pretty great. It's not going to dethrone Slay the Spire, but it's not trying to. The blend of deck-building and grid-based strategy doesn't sound like it should work, but it really works. I love the soundtrack, too. Very catchy.
Oh absolutely. I think it did a great job standing on its own two (or 4) feet. It's also extremely affordable being only 10 bucks. Definitely one people should be checking out for sure.
Not for me at all. If they made this into a real game with a real story and real progression I'd play it, because I actually really like the art and I love a good RTwP game. Shame they made it a Roguelike instead. Amazing work as always sir!
Yeah the story bit during the tutorial was really neat tbh. I think it really could've done a lot. I saw somewhere that the devs said they mostly intended to keep the roguelike aspect so the story they started isn't something they are really all that interested in finishing off which is a shame. I think it could still succeed since you have to do multiple runs in order to try and beat the game, but it is what it is.
Looks interesting even though I am not the biggest fan of RTS games. Great video although Darkest Dungeon IS a roguelike as far as I know.
Well shhhhhh. I changed the name because I never really thought of Darkest Dungeon like that so now the title is more appropriate
Not sure if this one is for me. The resource management plus rts combat is a bit too heavy for me
It is a lot to keep up with. Looking back I don't regret giving it a go, but after 3 hours of attempts and only making it as far as three levels before getting the squad wiped, I was ready to call it there.
This makes me remind the pain I felt with Celeste, reaching only level 4 😅 but the artstyle seems great! I liked your honest doubts about ths gameplay and yes, text sounds can be annoying if done in a bad way. Great video! And last time I forgot to sub, so just fixed it 😉
Thank you! I try to be as unbiased and fair on my thoughts as I can be, so if something bothers me I feel like I have to bring it up, but will always try to do so without saying something like "that's trash" because there's always something out there for everyone. Thanks for the sub too, I made sure to get you one and I will be following your stuff as well :)
@@Prozeon I 100% agree with what you said! We have our tastes so what we like (or dislike) can be different from others' tastes. Also, unless the game is clearly rushed, I try always to respect the work of developers, especially for small teams or solo projects. You deserve the sub man, absolutely! You're doing a great work 💪
Good video
Thank you :)
Such a great video! Didn't know about half of these games! I still want to go back to Enshrouded, but the more I play it, the more I miss Valheim...
Thanks. Be sure to check out the other video as well so you can get my 5-1 which is actually correct instead of Dorian's ;). I enjoy Enshrouded a lot because I feel like it fixes some of Valheim's shortcomings but it will always be hard to not want to come back to Valheim
Great videos guys! I checked both 💪 my favourite of both list Is problably Nine Sols (even if I've not played It still, it's in my backlog for now...). Congrats!
Thank you :) It was fun to partner up on this type of video. Nine Sols was definitely a great game that kind of came out of nowhere. Bo Path of the Teal Lotus has a similar art style, but an interesting aerial style combat that is worth checking out as well.
@Prozeon I have that on my list too! Or at least, I thought I had It 😅 added now!
Boo! BOO! VIVA LA PLANET CRAFTER! GOTY 2024! Unsubscribe! Dislike! Cancel on Xitter! Oh hey I'm in this video...neat. Nevermind, liked the video.
I know I know. Especially after your BG3 argument I feel bad because it really is such a great game.
What a wonderful list, at least the later half of it. I 100% agree with it! In all seriousness, loved working together on these videos with you while some or even most of the banter had to sadly be cut due to time reasons and... other... political correctness reasons...
I don't think many would want to hear the full 4 hour conversation we had lol. If they do then we go for a podcast and then our own Crypto Coin
@Prozeon rugpulling it is a no no though, just saying!
Is the game good yes, is it to its former glory... I can not answer with certainty since it does not look like fighting as one of the heroes is an option. Still it is a nice different at least.
Hearing a lot of good things about the demo. Good to see DW origins is looking like an improvement in some ways.
It was definitely a ton of fun for sure and the tactical button mashing was a nice change of pace
Into The Grid!
I'll be honest when it was in beta form I wasn't exactly sure how I felt but when the demo came out I was really impressed with how much fun it really was
I KNEW IT WAS LU BU. xD
Haha I knew he had to be waiting for me once I didn't see him on the map pre-battle. He's just so notorious for being the one to avoid for good reason
I have a feeling by the end, I'll feel like the protagonist could have been a woman and made 0 difference. If the reason is they didn't want to have to recprd 2 sets of voice lines, I wish they'd come out and say it.
That is a fair point. I didn't really think about it that much until it was brought up in the comments that if you are a nameless hero why not allow customization to them
Samurai warriors 4 and 5 is pretty awesome. The most recent dynasty warriors is the only one that really sucks. The rest of the games are pretty good, y’all are just dramatic
The last Dynasty Warriors game to be rated positively on Steam came out 10 years ago. The Romance of the Three Kingdoms games have also been regarded poorly with recent releases. That's not really dramatic, it's just saying that these games that take place in China have not been doing so hot for whatever reason. I openly admitted I hadn't played this series in a while so I can't tell you personally if they were that good or bad, but I am saying that it's nice to see how excited people are for this series after a long drought of getting less than ideal releases.
I think if we could somehow have a full character customisation, the sales would fly to heaven
That would be a killer feature for sure. I think they were mostly focused on not having another Dynasty Warriors 9 situation, but it would still be nice to custom create something, especially if we are already playing a non-named protagonist.
I’m 99% sure it’s pronounced shir shwe guan but I might be wrong
totally fair. I am highly aware that I have no basis on telling people how things are pronounced, so I am 100% okay with being corrected
We are probably both wrong
Give a game where you can get 100+ combo and I'm happy. That's all I remember with the old games, was too much fun. Great video!
My first attempt had me at something like 1200 kills, so just a normal day at the office. That didn't really help anything other than my ego given my quick demise in the final battle.
I feel like a letdown to my parents and all of my ancestors but... I never got into the Dynasty Warriors franchise. It just never clicked with me. Nonetheless the game does look good and the video was great as always!
I get that. I fell out of it for a while, but this new fighting style is so much more engaging then the mindless button mashing. Thanks for the compliment :)
Do not pursue Lu Bu! Love this series so damn much. Hopefully they can fix their abysmal controller support on PC for the real release! Awesome work as always sir!
Oh trust me I did not pursue. I had no choice and I knew from the moment I saw he wasn't on the tactical map that he would be at the end. The fact that my third run had me running away to get health only to come back to an empty battlefield is just insane lol
Diceomancer started as a GMTK game, it's cool to see the concept expanded upon
That's pretty neat. I don't recall seeing it but there's been so many games made throughout GMTK's history of game jams and it's nice to see some of them become full games.
I remember seeing the developers of this game letting people try it out for the first time at a Dream-Hack convention. I was curious to try it out for my amusement until the guy unfortunately said I wasn't old enough to play it. Like come on man, just because i was 15 at the time didn't mean I was less mature than the weeb next to me who just suddenly bought a $300-$500 diorama with their credit card. (Heheh, it was fun there.)
Haha that's unfortunately part of the issue with just how vulgar it is. Also, I get what you mean by the whole diorama being okay but not letting you play the game. I worked a retail gig where it was real strict on what we could sell and I legit hard to card people over games otherwise I could literally face jailtime. On the other hand, I just learned that the team for this game intends on releasing some sort of toggle that will pull back on a lot of the vulgarity in the game for those who want to stream it, but then it feels like it would lose a lot of its identity.
Crazy how that works isn't it? I mean we know how to find our ways around things. I'm sure it'll be fiiiine.
Menace from the Deep looks too cool! Great vid!
It has a lot going for it. The more I play it, the more I enjoy it. I'll be talking about it more in an upcoming video for sure.
Oh god... So many more games to wishlist... Great collection of deckbuilders, really like nearly all of them! If you keep them coming, I keep wishlisting 😂
Unfortunately (not really) my wallet will be feeling the repercussions of this video for sure.
I knew I've heard of this name before, just couldn't pinpoint where. Turns out the Devil's Dive developer made an image for this game, now it makes sense
I had not heard of Devil's Dive before. I'll be sure to check it out then
@Prozeon it's very cheap, it's a small and fun roguelike like downwell. I'd recommend it
Cool of you to give it a fair shot! Even if the dev seems like a really weirdly angry person.
I always try to stay impartial and just express what I observe. Every game has some value in my eyes and I think this one has a ton of potential to be a really great game if its tone wasn't set to 11/10 all the time.
i dont care if you said it was crass, the fact the sign said eat ass while the text said the locations was hillarious
I actually thought it was funny at first, but I had hoped that other signs said other things to keep the joke going which they did not. I think it just started to wear on me because of just how much relentless the crudeness was and sometimes it really just felt like there was no real reason for it.
@Prozeon Respectfully agree, your VE was interesting enough to get me to play some of the demo myself since commenting, and after interacting with everything in the starting house i was bored of the 'shit's and 'fuck's. Honestly a good video, cant wait to see what you upload next :)
@@ikepcyhscore8532 Yeah it definitely could use without almost every single interaction being one full of profanity. I appreciate the support :) I will have some newer style videos coming up to round off the year, but Demo Diving will always be here because there are so many good games out there that don't get the attention they deserve
damn its double mature
It literally hit me what you meant by that comment XD I have fixed the title so there is only one mature
there are some interesting mechanical ideas here, but goddamn, how have "mature" and "juvenile" become synonyms? people get so needlessly edgy trying to prove their interests aren't childish, and then they just sound like 13 year old boys because of it
I agree. I genuinely don't mind if games have swearing or adult themes in them, but it gets to a point where it's just trying too hard and you can tell it is just a way to drum up shock factor given how excessive it can be. I think this game could have some really great potential if it managed that sort of dynamic between serious and comedic, but what I played leaned almost entirely into the over the top "comedy" making it just seem childish at times. I hope the dev understands that they don't have to make every character curse on every line in order for them to be a memorable character.
I think that's why the emphasis is supposed to be the *EDGE* of Allegoria.
@@squeegel3904 Haha I thought about making that joke while writing the script for the video
This will be either a huge hook for me, or I'll end up hating it, and I can't tell which it will be lol
I'm hoping for a hook, but it really depends on if there are some changes to the game that will make traversal more tolerable. The crude humor was hit and miss but I got real tired of the encounters while navigating the dungeons.
Background music was really cool in this video. I like the potential of this, but yeah while I enjoy this humor, it seems to miss the mark a bit.
I think it just has an issue of trying too much to make you laugh or be surprised. A game shouldn't be at a 10 all the time otherwise it just feels like the same. The meta interaction implied a more real story, but all that was was the woman who used her charm to stay alive and everyone just used her to say crazy things, so it wasn't properly utilized. If there was a more serious tone every once in a while I think it would really help offset the forced humor.
While I highly enjoyed the early Pokemon games and this combat and progression system would work for me, I would not play through a whole game with this much crudeness since, as you mentioned, it would stand in the way of any form of immersion. Great video though!
Thanks. I do wish it had some tonal differences here and there to make it so it didn't just shove curse words and vulgarity into your face. I have no real problem with a game having that, but to do it all the time is a little much.
Don't think this one will be for me, the vulgarity wouldn't bother me, but I just don't really enjoy the old school GameBoy aesthetic all that much. Amazing work as always sir!
That's totally fair. I think a large screen is also a bit counterintuitive to using graphics from the handheld era.
See I love the aesthetic but can't stand the vulgarity I have enjoyed Isles of Sea and Sky and I get the handheld size and experience back by using the Steam Link app and a Backbone on my phone as a controller. I guess a Steam Deck would work too but I am too broke / stingy to find out quite yet
@@TheThinKing That's a good point. The aesthetic may not be pleasing to some and the vulgarity also may not be appeasing, so by having already knocked your target audience down with the aesthetic that some don't enjoy, the vulgarity dwindles it even further unfortunately. I think that is a better setup you've got than getting a Steam Deck, because I also am too broke to grab one of those lol
Cool aesthetics, if they added a co-op mode for someone else to control the tether, that could be interesting!
