Wow, its so clear after listening to this that ravel used this as inspiration in his g major piano concerto’s second movement
Digga Uhoi
Thanks for uploading!
it's 4/2, why written common time
What an annoying bullshit

beautiful interpretation and lovely playing. The version Leonid Kogan and others have recorded has a lot of very awkward violin passages that appear to have been rewritten to the advantage of balance and being violinistic. (perhaps the artist has used an earlier draft of Schumann's with which I am not familiar.) In any case, chapeau bas Ms Kopatchinskaja.
I prefer the version of 11 (!!) years old Himari (in this case, it was with piano accompaniment). For one thing (among others) the first chords are not completely out of tune.
Why not just play this on organ?
I find this rendition quite different from the usual way Schumann is played
09❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
very good playing but is it just me or are the first tenths a little out of tune?
They definitely are out of tune, but it is known by people who listen to lots of his recordings that he doesn't focus on intonation as much as he should.
Yes, really out of tune. Horrible start of the concerto.
Und jetzt auf zur Titanic damit😂
Wie die anderen dullis 😂😂😂😂😂
wow !!! again a proof that Robert Schumann was an amazing composer !!!!
Reger wrote a great fugue on BACH, and it also keeps accelerating all through its run! I think he stole a gimmick from Schumann 😮
Actually, you can find many accelerating fugues since Mendelssohn! His Op. 35 no. 1 is the first one that comes to mind, and the Organ Sonata no. 3 is another example I am very fond of. If I am not mistaken, this style of composition went hand in hand the "German" way of playing Bach, Buxtehude and other old masters, beginning in a slow tempo and subdued dynamics and culminating in a fiery fortissimo finale. On IMSLP, you can find a book of chorale preludes edited by Karl Straube, which is full of extravagant dynamics and articulation marks. From the "modern", "historically informed" point of view, it is absolutely terrible! I love it!
@@WonderingAndWanderingOrganist how fun! thanks, the Straube book reminds me of many such romanticized editions for piano, but of course organ has many more ways in which to make 'fff' sound deafening and overwhelming. interesting how tastes change, but its fun to hear a more adventurous interpretation from time to time.
Wow I really love op 34/37 in particular, these are great!
Same! It's a nice selection of impromptu pieces but the last two are just wow.
Also Thomas ich muss sagen, auf nem U-Boot sitzt man wien Waffeleisen
Great! I would like to know who is the pianist: CATHERINE Collard?, JEAN-PHILIPPE Collard? other Collard maybe? Thanks in advance ¡Estupendo! Gracias anticipadas
I found myself the answer: The pianist is Jean-Philippe Collard.
A sublime overture by Schumann, but zero comments? Let me fix that.
Wer singt das?
I like it :) In general, this is a very good playing 🥰
Too much butter on the bread... ( Forces the tone) out of tune on several occasions. Double harmonics not clean. Aggressive playing. Faulty vibrato on G string. Really, I miss Michael Rabin so much. Rabin's live broadcast is absolutely out of this world!
personally I really like his aggressive take. I do agree that he has been slightly neglecting his sound too much in recent years, as it has become a bit too harsh, but I do prefer his take on this concerto, especially the finale.
I agree. Rabin is better, his sound more gentle, melodic and delicate. However, Ray Chen's playing is good too, despite his flaws. We must remember this concerto is incredibly technically challenging and even to attempt to play it is an achievement
I don't know if it is just me, but I really like Itzhak Perlman's recorded version of it. But I do agree, Rabin's is also phenomenal as well.
Well of course Rabin is far superior but Perlman runs him a close second. Ray Chen is still a fine player and does not deserve the criticisms many of you give him. Ricci is one of my favourites in this difficult work as his style and tone is so satisfying and technically nothing fells him.
Stupendo!
it doesn't appear to be a particularly promising theme but Schumann applies his genius and makes it something wonderful
Who are the violinist and the cellist??
Capucon, Gautier
What delightful undiscovered gems these pieces are, and so sensitively played by Daniel Grimwood. Like a mixture of Schubert and early Chopin. They deserve to be much better known and played.
1, 2, 3, 4, 5 & 6.
Why are these pieces so unpopular?!!!! It's incredible beautiful music!!!
Because you need a special piano to play it
@@polina5918 That makes sense. Argerich and Barenboim performed it with four hands.
@@polina5918no you don’t, you just need to know how to use the left pedal correctly.
@@bartwatts1921 Simple enough if you only need to know how to use a single pedal correctly… out of the one or two dozen pedals that the instrument had….
I am certain that No. 3 was the inspiration for his “Toccata.”
Schumann really predicted Jazz with that 5th impromptu
No. 1 gives me goosebumps. Just beautiful❤
One can learn a lot from this easy studies with regard to harmony theory.
cool :) thanks
Beautiful melodies, full of passion and effervescence.
Thx for uploading
T he Gartenmelodie is gorgeous &the Kroatenmarch1 one knows it is Schumann and the players have a definite idea about how Schumann is played !
The first ones are kinda boring but the later ones are lovely
So can we play these pieces without the pedal ? is it gonna still sound good ?
There is a version for four hands, no pedal (arranged by Georges Bizet).
@@katkluczy Yes, and a version for two pianos (arranged by Claude Debussy)
I think number four is my favorite piece of music. It’s almost like I can see the world through Schumann’s eyes, and the world is indescribably beautiful.
That's a phenomenal interpretation
Agreed!
If I remember correctly, in the old Kalmus edition of the compete piano works, there are two versions of this work. Can anyone add anything further? It was so long ago, all my piano scores are long gone, along with my memory.

Very exciting to hear my former chamber music teacher play these pieces. He was very inspiring! Talking about more than 30 years ago! This sounds a bit formal though. Still nice to hear it.
Merci.
I can't stop loving No. 4 ❤ This rendition is exquisite
Sorry to be a year late but here's another beautiful performance and lo-fi kinda cover on No. 4 if you care to listen - ua-cam.com/video/ox8L2EzF6Uc/v-deo.htmlsi=Z8T5jCk9oqyCDacF ua-cam.com/video/3DZyFwraGVU/v-deo.htmlsi=8PVI-XFoP_2vdQWP I need to study this piece cause my brain is lost in the elegance
