Ribblehead Viaduct also known as Batty Moss Viaduct carries the Settle-Carlisle railway across Batty Moss in The Ribble Vally in North Yorkshire. The viaduct was built between 1869 and 1874, the line was opened in 1876. More than 100 men lost there lives building the viaduct.

Views of Scapa Floe and Hoy from Lyrawa Hill View Point Hoy. The Kitchener Memorial at Marwick Head overlooking the area were HMS Hampshire sank on the 5th June 1916 after hitting a mine taking over 700 lives including Lord Kitchener. There were only 12 survivors.

Lyness on the island of Hoy was the site of the Naval Base for Scapa Flow and is also the site of the Commonwealth War Grave Commission Royal Naval Cemetery. Hoy is a lovely island with lots of history. South of Hoy joined by a Causway is the island of South Walls and the settlement of Longhope.

The blockships were place at some of the entrances to Scapa Flow Naval Anchorage during World War One to prevent attacks on the ships by U Boat These proved inadequate during World War Two and after the sinking of HMS Royal Oak on 14th October 1939 by U47Churchill then the First Lord of The Admiralty ordered the bulding of the concrete barriers.
