DO NOT FEED birds flour or corn syrup, both are unhealthy, especially corn syrup. Unflavored gelatin is fine, so is peanut butter and/or lard.

This is great information. Was experiencing the same issues with bird seed waste. However I found using hot Pepper 🌶 sauce ( for birds) or make your own, took care of the squirrels issues. They leave the seed and cakes alone and the birds do not mind the hot seeds in the least. I did not have any Kayro syrup as you suggested, but used maple syrup (the pure stuff) instead. It worked. Also I found that using black shelled sunflower seeds, with shelled peanuts, safflower seeds, and other no waste seeds took care of the waste issue and reduced the sparrows, starlings, and grackles down to just a few. Discovered the woodpeckers, finches and wrens love the cakes. Also it is important to read your seed bag for list of ingredients. Milo seed is a cheep filler seed, birds do not even like it, even the sparrows would prefer other seed and it it seeds your lawn with milo. Ugh!

I'm trying to learn how to draw in me old age! For birthdays, I try to draw a cute bird for a card, attach it to a $dollar box of Dots, wrapped up, and write "Happy Bird-day"!!! We had a 'free range Peach-faced lovebird, for a couple of years. Then we got another one. (only one at a time)... They are brilliant and adorable... We loved them so!! Thanks for your painting 'tutorial'!!

Hey I had the same problem with Sparrows and doves that are capable of waisting 15 lbs of birdseed a day..... So I totally switched out almost all of my feeders to seed cakes of different shapes and types.... It worked...sparrows still come around but give up quickly and the doves are completely gone..... Good ridden.... 😁 Ohh and the squirrels I trapped and relocated them to a park 😀 Thanks for the recipe 👍👍

totally agree with your "secret ingredient." Our recipe is very similar but we will have to try the dill weed addition. The only addition we would suggest for yours would be some finely chopped green onion. I think I will go boil some eggs now. You have inspired us.
