In '95 I was motocross wild child with a love of drink, drugs and metal, and upon finding a self titled CD of Ron Sexsmith I thought it had to be some weird industrial styled acid alternative or the like. Imagine my surprise to hear what it really was. But I can't tell you how profound the effect of Ron's songs were on me, and to this day, when I hear Galbraith Street I melt inside and just cry at the mental imagery, I am now 49. The real kicker is how Ron's music has covered the world, I found that CD in a record shop in Port Augusta, South Australia in '95. Talk about an out of area place for the beauty of his music to find my ears.

I recently read an interview with Nick that stated he wasn’t very happy with the original because he rushed through the writing of it. He said he believed the versions he has performed with Los Straitjackets have been far superior to the original. I think he’s right (and I also love those guitars in the break).

They played so "tight" and so great (all those hours in Hamburg made them to be so great) That's why there is no comparison they are the best. Always played so well; it looked like they were never nervous (I imagine they were saying; 'if we could handle the sailors and drunkards in Humburg, we can handle anything') they were ready for America!
