I have a 2180 in my airplane, and did this to the heads. Did it in one afternoon. All chambers within 1cc of each other. The camera person is one of the worst I have ever seen.
What do you guys think of the chamber cut? Hemi? And the intake port? Enlarge round? Since it comes from the right genes (Berg) I am tempted to follow the cutting. Loves the flexible contraption holding the cylinder head
Great way to waist your life and your children's,I know because I did it. Problem is , you can't quit, it's that "I can do that" mentality taking over. Happens to others with our domestic V8s too. Ask me how I know. Don't please.
You are witnessing greatness. The Berg family are the absolute best at VW engine modification. The father Gene Berg was a genius who went against the grain in the VW industry and impeccably engineered every part and process they sold and he was known for calling out parts dealers for selling garbage like "full circle cranks" and many other bad ideas. The Berg catalog and technical sheets are must reading for any serious VW engine builder if you want high performance and reliability. I consider this video a rare look inside the greatest VW shop ever. Thanks for posting this.
Absolutely, I built a very excellent motor working with the Gene Berg Family. Talked with Clyde about shimming pistons out for the right compression for lower octane gas without loosing power and keeping the motor cool. They made the shims for me and basically I bought everything from them. I found out about Gene the year he died. The motor was a powerhouse and a daily driver. Had to sell it years ago because of financial issues. Basically gave it away because they just thought it was a regular VDub Motor. I bet the people who bought it from me blew it up or something because they would not have any clue on how to tune it from any VW manual. Timing ETC. Legendary. Gene Berg. Peace AKARaygun64. Today I found a 1967 Type one small block on craigslist and picked it up for $40.
Is he removing metal or polishing what is there? I can see that the port diameters are matched to the gasket size. I assume they all have to be cc’ed then the biggest becomes a guide for the other three.
A lap Make your own. I do. Metal rod or wood dowel. Pick the appropriate grit paper/cloth. Piece of tape to hold the end( small is ok. The wrapping really holds it.) wrap it the proper direction. Go for it.
How much would these sets cost?
Why reshape the chamber, when totally believe in semi-hemi cut for street or race
wow, that edge where the cylinder sets sure is narrow wonder if this is the first set of heads he has ported ... probably more like 1001 ... this week
I am baffled too on the seating for the cylinders, does not look like it has any more seating. Maybe he is going to bore it out for a bigger spigot

ポートを磨くのは昭和の時代遅れチューンだね ポートは狭くザラザラにするほうが流速が上がって空気の貼り付きが無くなる
Hey , the long tool that I have used to port and polish is a cyl head stud with a slot cut in the middle . Ain't no rocket science.

Aluminum is part of the tau tangles that signifies Alzheimer’s. The nasal passages are a direct path to the brain.
What a cool job

What is the name of the long tool you inserted sand paper in? Where can I get one? Was that crocus cloth?

U. R A dumb shit. They sell sandpaper rolls for that reason. So much wrong with this video, I would be embarrassed.
