What's Going On - practice

Skinny and I practicing for upcoming gig. Love this song so much I had to record it. Ignore my voice and put in Marvin Gaye. But Skinny's guitar playing belongs right there.

Girl and Mom come up to dance with Bruce during Dancing in the Dark KC Nov 2012

Bruce pulling women up to dance with him and the band during "Dancing in the Dark". Woman and her mom get pulled up right next to me. They were elated. Only caught the beginning of this but was a very cool thing to do.
Born to Run

Bruce Springsteen in KC. Best concert I've ever been to. Waited all day and got in lottery to get in early. Within arms' reach of stage. After 3 hours of non-stop music to a completely packed Sprint Center (minus the seats behind the stage), the lights came up and he broke into "Born to Run".

End of Scenes from an Italian Restaurant
had a few drinks bob? 😂
This song came up on my playlist a couple days before what would have been my late brother’s 65 birthday, and not surprisingly, I started to cry a little bit. I managed to avoid not getting tearful on the actual date of his birthday, but on the day after his birthday, the chorus of this song came out of nowhere and kept repeating in my brain while I was in the shower. I was crying enough that I had to get out of the shower and started sobbing heavily into a bath towel. He was the one to introduce me to the music of Lyle Lovett.
Thanks Doug, I fucking love this sad song
But is it really sad? I’ve loved this song for 10+ years and not sure if it’s sad or uplifting. Thank you Lyle!!!
@@kumac7370 I'll answer that. My cousin just died and this reminds me of my family that is disappearing. IT IS VERY SAD.
Thanks for posting this great song... he changed that one line from “...and I see them laughing” to “...and I see them dancing” - which for me, is a really great change... it conjures up a whole different image... thanks!
magical harmonies
We love this! Thanks for posting. :D
My favorite band at Bulegrass
Just saw REK at the 1st KOKE Fest in, yes this is the correct name of the town, Hutto Texas and he was fan-dang-tastic.....Also mentioned Lyle as being the "main" songwriter of this song and admire him for that....Love BOTH these singer/songwriters and pray God blesses both of them with many more awesome years !!! Thanx for ur tunes guys !!!
"There are more I remember, and more I could mention, than words I could write in a song. But I feel em watching, and I see em dancing, and I hear em singing along. " is my favorite line. Thanks, Lyle
Nobody needs to be told that Mr. Lyle Lovett is a genius, and it must pain him to hear it. But this song is MADE for genealogists who are looking backwards, seeking the faces and ANYTHING of those they loved. Thank you for posting this-I've been listening for decades to Mr. Lovett, and never before heard this. (And we saw him shortly after his marriage to J, at the Berkeley Greek. Outdoors. Summer in California. Can anything be dearer to a woman's heart than a song about keeping the faces of a family together? (Yes. But have some perspective.) So grateful for this little bit. Pictures of hands.
We really liked your clip. You should make more
Oh duh, just saw your published info that it WAS the KC concert!
Which concert venue was this? I attended his Kansas City Sprint Center concert on 05/01/15. Love your video and thanks for sharing it! I've watched it several times. This and Piano Man were my favorite performances of the night! His vocals are still outstanding!...fun concert!
I would love if you could find the Anne bolin song. Her head tucked underneath her arm!! Been looking everywhere!! And thank you for posting the mermaid song!!
I heard it on PHC also, and am trying to learn to play it on the ukulele (key of C--pretty straightforward). I would probably perform it only once, at a private gathering--hope that's fair use! I'm a big fan of jug bands, past, present and future. Jim and his associates are a national treasure.
This was on Prairie Home Companion tonight....awesome!
At 2:36 when Pokey says "how you all doin' behind that blanket, is that a snuggie", he was talking to me & my friends who were trying to stay warm in the balcony on the front row. Incredible intimate feeling at that show, like being at a family reunion. You'll know what I'm talking if you ever get to see him live, not to be missed.
